The Edgewater Beach & Golf Resort, located on one of the
world’s most beautiful beaches, offers spacious and
elegantly-furnished gulf-front suites with balconies overlooking
the Gulf and golf villas surrounded by lush landscaping and several
heated pools. Guests will have preferred access and rates to Hombre
Golf Club, a 27-hole championship course, as well as a 9-hole
executive golf course. Amenities include complimentary wireless
internet, daily self-parking, fitness center use and shuttle
service on property to and from the conference center.

rates are offered three days prior and three days following the

Cancellations prior to two weeks before arrival date will be
refunded the first night deposit. Cancellations made within two
weeks and four days prior to arrival will be refunded the first
night deposit minus $50.00 cancellation fee. Cancellations must be
made four days prior to arrival to avoid forfeiture of the first
night deposit.
The SESAF Golf Tournament will begin Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at
Hombre Golf Club located at 120 Coyote Pass. The registration fee
is $60.00. Plan to join us for a fun filled day on the links. There
will be prizes for all skill levels, so bring your clubs and relax
before the meeting with your fellow foresters on a beautiful

Continuing Education Credits: The Program Committee has
developed an impressive agenda of topics and speakers relating to
the theme “12 Tons/ac/yr: The Science of Sustainably Enhancing
Southern Pine Productivity.” Speakers will describe the newest
information on all the different factors that help maximize forest
productivity in the South, as well as new insights in harvesting
those forests and wood quality. Eight to ten hours of Category 1
CFE credits are possible for SAF Certified Forester and the Georgia
and Alabama Registered Forester program requirements.
Call for Posters: The poster session offers an opportunity for
researchers, graduate students, educators, agencies and individuals
to present their work to a wide audience. Posters will be set up on
Sunday, January 26 between noon and 4:00 p.m., and should be no
larger than 4 ft. X 4 ft. Please submit the title, author names,
author affiliations, corresponding author contact information and a
brief 200 word abstract

will be $100 for first place and $50 for second place).
Mentors: In 1997, SESAF Chair Mark Elliott initiated a mentor
program during the Sunday evening Reception. SESAF members were
paired with a college student to introduce the student to other
SESAF members to help make our students feel welcome and more a
part of our organization. We hope to have a large number of
students at the meeting this year, so we’ll need several mentors.
Please sign on the registration form to help with this very
important program.
Green Circle Bioenergy Mill Tour: Production of wood pellets for
bioenergy has created new opportunities across the South for
landowners to market their timber, especially in areas that
experienced mill closures. Join us Tuesday afternoon for a one-hour
tour of the Green Circle Bioenergy Mill in Cottondale, a
state-of-the-art wood pellet facility. From incoming logs to final
product, observe the production process, learn about the challenges
and opportunities with this maturing industry, and get answers to
those questions you have been waiting to ask. The mill is a little
over an hour from Panama City and participants may drive their own
vehicles or carpool. The event will include lunch and at least one
hour of continuing education credit.
Quiz Bowl: The successful Student Quiz Bowl will continue in
2014 on Sunday afternoon. Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College,
Alabama A&M, Auburn, UFL and UGA are urged to bring a team to
compete in this event. If you would like the challenge of
participating, contact the SESAF office at
[email protected]. A Senior Quiz Bowl will follow the
Student event.
