Pub Quiz & Silent Auction Hosted by our Friends
at Café du Cerf
Neuchâtel, 28.01.2020
My appeal to you The catastrophic bushfires in Australia have ravaged every state
of Australia since September 2019. To date, over 6.3 million hectares (1.5 times the size of Switzerland) of land has burned.
Still, the fires are out of control and many are expected to continue burning for several weeks.
Homes and businesses have been lost, entire communities have been evacuated, hundreds of millions of animals have
died, ecosystems have been destroyed and sadly, human lives have also been lost. It is truly devastating.
As an Australian living far from home in Switzerland, it is distressing to see the beautiful bushland and country reduced
to ash and not be there to help ease the suffering.
So from my new home in Neuchâtel, I appeal to you, my fellow humans, to please join me in an effort to help the people and
animals impacted by the devastation in Australia.
How the auction works No auctioneer required! Simply write your bids on the sheets
for the items you want and at the end of the night, the highest bidder wins! For duplicate items, the top few bidders win.
u Identify the Items by Number You can review the list of items up for auction on the next few
pages and note the number of the items that interest you.
v Go to the Bid Sheets The sheets will be available in number order
and located in the third-floor bar.
w Make Your Bids Write your name and mobile number on the next available row.
Enter your bid considering the minimum bid increment for the item—chf5, 10, or 20, depending on its value.
BUY IT NOW
If you would like to guarantee you win, enter the BUY IT NOW bid (2 x Item Value) and alert one of our helpers.
x Keep Bidding
Throughout the night, repeat steps v and w, to improve your chances of winning and increase the donations for our charities.
y Make Your Donation & Collect Your Items
Before the last round of the quiz, or for BUY IT NOW bids, we will close the silent auction and highlight and announce the winners. Make your way to the third-floor bar to make your donation—cash or Twint preferred—and pick up your loot!

Our charities Of the several registered charities helping victims of the
Australian bushfires, we have chosen to split all proceeds from the Bushfire Benefit among those most deserving. The charities we chose are those that are smaller and not supported on an
international scale and those that are comprised mostly of volunteers and support the hardest hit areas in Australia.
Communities & People Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal
Kangaroo Island Mayoral Relief & Recovery Bushfire Fund
Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund
Animals & Wildlife Animals Australia
Wildlife Victoria
Zoo and Aquarium Association Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation Appeal

Thank you! I would like to express my deepest appreciation
for your kind donations, contributions, and participation in tonight’s Pub Quiz and Silent Auction. Arranging this event
took many hands, open hearts, and hours of coordination and I am truly grateful to all of you for your help and support.
About me My name is Jennifer Robertson and I am an Australian living in Neuchâtel,
since December 2017, with my Australian/Belgian husband and two children, moving across the world for his job. We are keen adventurers and explorers and loved opportunity to
live in the world’s most beautiful country! Professionally, I’m trained as
a research scientist with a PhD however, I spent the past 12 years in university management in Australia. I am very much a
believer in giving back to your community and have spent many years volunteering and fundraising for a variety of
charities and organisations. Currently I volunteer at Bibliomonde and local sporting events and am a ‘pilot’ for À
Velo Sans Âge. I am passionate about the environment and in particular, Australian wildlife. This photo is of me with an
inquisitive Helmeted Honey Eater, a critically endangered bird and the bird emblem for Victoria, my home state in Australia.
