A dog handler in the police force is a very rewarding and very exiting job. The job of a dog handler is to train a working dog and to take care and look after them. Also they control the dog if there has been an incident and will point thedog in the right direction. Police dogs are a huge asset to the police service.Not only do they help to deter criminals and safeguard the public they alsooffer an amazing sense of smell. If we did not use police dogs wit would benear impossible for a human to do the same work rate and same sense of smell that a dog can achieve. The average wage for a god handler in the

Passive Dogs – used in the detection of drugs on persons

Proactive Dogs – used in the detection of drugs in a specific area, such as awarehouse, airport baggage control, nightclubs, schools or offices
