Hyundai have pitched the i20

into the most price competitive

segment of the market against

market leaders like the Toyota Yaris,

Ford Fiesta VW Polo, Suzuki Swift

etc. The competition is hot, the

stakes are high. Will the i20 be as

successful as the Getz has been?

This comparison would have to be one of

the most frustrating we have done. Here

we are with two supremely capable 4WD

vehicles and keen to video our review

over very testing conditions only to be

thwarted by torrential rain for days on end.

So the video was killed and the intended

trail became suicidal to attempt. We did

manage to test them though finally.

Holden’s Cruze CDX Diesel 6

spd automatic combines all the

ingredients to make it a huge success.

Surprisingly good looks, plenty of room

inside, 5 star ANCAP safety rating,

lots of features, leather seats,good

performance and great economy all

bundled into a well priced package.

They should and do sell heaps of them.

HOLDEN CRUZE CDX 2.0L CRTD 6 SPEED AUTO ENVIROCAR REVIEW

The Kia Rio Sport has taken a reasonably

good looking micro car, added some

cool extras and bundled them into a

feature filled value package at a drive

away price of around $19,000 The

Rio has always been a super reliable

economical Envirocar that should be

on the shopping list, especially now. Just

don’t expect anything sporty though.

The Fiesta ECOnetic has European style,

very comfortable inside, 5 star safety, plenty

of features, drives with a surprisingly sporty

nature and has economy that makes hybrids

cringe. The 1.6L TDi works almost perfectly

with the 5 speed manual transmission and is

very tractable thanks to its 200Nm of torque

that comes in at 1750rpm.

TOYOTA CAMRY HYBRID LUXURY 2.4L HYBRID SYNERGY DRIVE ENVIROCAR REVIEWToyota strikes up a number of firsts with the

Camry Hybrid, bringing this technology to

the mainstream market with the first Hybrid

car built in Australia. It is surprisingly good

and should tempt many buyers, more so

than the Prius. In this size car the Hybrid

Synergy Drive makes sense.

The 6th generation Golf continues to

improve on one of the most successful

cars in history. The 118TSI Comfortline

provides outstanding economy, more than

adequate performance, typical VW Golf

features all wrapt in what is unquestionably

the best looking Golf ever.

First impressions of the Alto is that its

‘cute’ I am told and many thanks to

Bridgette from Suzuki as it must have

looked quite a sight a 6’3” mid 40’s

bloke driving around in this tiny rose

pink Alto. It is however pretty stylish.

HYUNDAI SANTE FE 2.2L ‘R’ HIGHLANDER -WHAT’S BENNY BEEN UP TO NOW?

On the weekend we finally got the

chance to try out Benny’s off-road

credentials. We headed down to my

local offroad playground to have

some fun and for a bit extra I loaded

him up to the gunwales with people,

three adults and three kids two of

which are in child restraints.

In a word it’s SUPERB. There is no other

vehicle that I can think of that has the

same level of performance, refinement,

off road ability combined with limousine

ride and prestige. You want for very little,

having almost every conceivable luxury

item you could think of. The Autobiography

adds to the already considerable high

levels of Vogue luxury with leather, more

leather and yet more leather.
