ANNUAL SPORTS REPORT 2017 – 18

“Losers visualize the penalties of failure, but winners visualize the rewards of

success.”

The Nilgiri District Table Tennis Association organized District level Table Tennis

Tournament on 24th and 25th June 2017. Our college team players Anushiya C. I

M.Sc Comp. Sc and Sruthi S. from III B.Sc Maths participated in the tournament.

Anushiya C. went up to the semi final round.

Madurai District Table Tennis Association organized State Level Ranking

Tournament at Madurai from 29th June to 1st July 2017. Our college team players

Anushiya C. I M.Sc Comp. Sc and Sruthi S. from III B.Sc Maths participated in the

tournament and their performance was good.

Unique Public School, Ooty organized district level chess tournament on 8th

and 9th July 2017. Malincha S. from II B.Com and Niveditha N. from 3rd Maths

participated in the tournament. Malincha S. from II B.Com secured II Place.

The Nilgiri District Badminton Association organized Nilgiri District Badminton

Tournament from 2nd to 5th August 2017. Two teams from our college

participated in the women’s doubles event. Nisha from I Literatute and Shanmugi

P. from II Botany went up to the semi final round.

The Bharathiar university Inter- Collegiate Chess Tournament was held at R.V

College of arts and science, Karamadai on 3rd and 4th August 2017. 27 colleges

from Bharathiar University took part in the tournament. Our college team secured

7th place team championship. The following players attended the selection trials

and secured the following places.

The Bharathiar University Inter - Collegiate volley ball tournament was held at

Ramalinga Sowdambiga College of Arts and science, Coimbatore on 9th and 10th

August 2017. 28 teams under Bharathiar University took part in the tournament.

Our college went up to II round.

The Bharathiar University Inter Collegiate cross country race was held at Gobi Arts

and science college, Gobichettipalayam on 11.08.2017. 15 colleges under

Bharathiar University took part in the race. The race covered a distance of 8kms.

Out of 75 participants our college players secured the following places.

The Bharathiar University Inter Collegiate Basket ball tournament was held at

Rathinam College of Arts and science Coimbatore on 21st and 22nd August 2017.

Our College team participated in the tournament and lost with PSGR Krishnammal

(2016 – 17 Runner up team) with the points 41- 36. Our college team performed

well and 3 players attended the selection trials. Our student Pavithra M. from III

B.Sc Maths got 18th rank out of 45 participants.

Sports development Authority of TamilNadu Nilgiri District organized Monthly

sports and games 2017 for the month of August 2017. Our students participated

in the Badminton tournament and went up to the semi final round. Our athletes

RVS College, Sulur on 31.08.17. 13 colleges under Bharathiar University took part

in the tournament. Our college went up to semi final round.

The Bharathiar University Inter Collegiate Hand Ball tournament was held at

Kamban College of arts and science, Sulthanpet, Palldam on 3.10.2017 and

4.10.2017. Anitha S. and Kalaiselvi R. from II B.sc Botany attended the selection

trials and their performance was good.

Sports development Authority of TamilNadu Nilgiri District organized Chief

Minister’s Trophy in the event of Basket ball and Table tennis on 27.11.2017. In

basket ball our college team secured III Place team championship. They received a

cash prize of Rs. 500/- per head. 7 of our students were selected to represent

Nilgiri District in the state level Basket ball tournament.

Minister’s Trophy in the game of volley ball on 08.12.2017. Our students

participated and secured 4th place.. Latha S. from III B.Sc Botany and Karpagam G.

from II B.A Literature were selected to represent our Nilgiri district in the state

level volley ball tournament.

The Bharathiar University Inter Collegiate Hockey tournament was held at

Vidyasagar College of Arts and Science, Udumalpet from 14.12.2017 to

16.12.2017. Our college participated in the tournament and secured IV place

team championship. This is the first time our college is entering in the game of

hockey at inter collegiate level.

Gomathi R. from II B.A Economics was selected to represent Bharathiar University

in the all India Inter University hockey tournament which was held at Annamalai

University Chidambaram from 06.01.2018 to 10.01.2018.They went up to quarter

final round.

River side public school Kotagiri organized FIDE Rated open chess tournament

from 22nd Dec to 25th Dec 2017. More than 700 players participated in the

tournament. Malincha S. from II B.Com secured III Place in under 18 category.

Niveditha N. from III B.Sc Maths received best women player award in Nilgiri

District.

MGR Centenary celebration was held at Ooty on 30th Dec 2017. Helen Tina F. from

III B.Com was honoured by our Honourable Chief Minister for her I Place in

Marathon race conducted by Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu Nilgiri

District on 17th August 2017.

District, was the resource person and he gave the key note address for the occasion

07.09.18 to 08.09.2018. 22 teams under Bharathiar University participated in the

game. Our college team won SNS Rajalakshmi College in the first round, SRCW

college in the second round and lost with Nehru College in the Quarter Final

round.

The Bharathiar University inter collegiate athletic meet was held at Nehru Stadium

Coimbatore from 15.10.18 to 17.10.18. Reshma Sharon from I BA Lit participated

in the event of shot put and secured 8th

position out of 3o participants.

On 27/10/2018 Alumini Association of St. Joseph’s college ,Coonoor organised

Runathan race a charity event in which participants run a long distance. Out of

300 participants Helen Tina F. from I M.Com secured II place. The race covered a

distance of 5 kms. She received a cash price of Rs. 5000/- a medal and a certificate.

Nilgiri District Table Tennis Association and Cordite Factory Recreation Club,

Aruvankadu organised District level Table Tennis tournament on 27.10.18 Three

of our students participated in the game. Kamali K from I B.com entered upto

second round, Shiffa G of I B.Com went up to semi final round and Anushiya. C

from II M Sc computer science won the women’s title winner. She received a

shield and a certificate.

Nilgiri District Master’s Athletic Association, Erode Sivam Sports Club and JCI

Ooty organised State Level Mini marathon race on 28.10.18. The race covered a

distance of 5 kms. More than 800 participants participated in the race. 8 of our

University Karaikudi from 23.11.2018 to 03.12.2018. Our university team went

The Nilgiri district Table Tennis Association organised District Level Table

Tennis tournament held at Kerala Samajam Coonoor on 2.2.19.

Our college team participated in the game and Anushiya.C from II M.Sc. Comp

Sci won the women’s title winner. She was awarded hat- trick performer for the

year 2018-2019.

Chatrapathi Sivaji sports club organised Pasumai Marathon 2019 on 3.2.19 at

Karuvalur .The following students received thefollowing places.

Karpagam G.III lit secured Iplace she received one gram gold coin a merit

certificate and a medal. Keerthana I Bot secured III place.she received Rs 600/-

a merit certificate and a medal.

World Record and registered in the Noble World Record Registry.

SUCCESS is a vehicle which moves on a wheel called HARDWORK but the

JOURNEY is impossible without a fuel called SELF CONFIDENCE.

We hope to grow in strength and quality in all sporting activities in the

coming years. We aim to strive for excellence as a prestigious women’s

college on the Hills, combining hard work and team spirit.
