In a behavioral sense, peace is generally understood to be a lack of conflict and freedom from fear of violence between heterogeneous social groups and sects. This case study of Mr Abdul Razzaq is one of the most inspiring and encouraging real story for promoting peace being a good human being by ignoring all type of differences.

Mr. Abdul Razzaq, resident of UC Rukan Hatti was a performing part of prohibited militant group as he shared during the corner meetings organized by FDO team to mobilize the general community for forming Village Peace Groups (VPG). Abdul Razzaq also joined an awareness/mobilization session and revealed his attention to become an element of the VPG. He was radicalized before by his inspiring organization against other spiritual variations. FDO mobilization regarding diversity and co existence changed his mind-set and he became a part of VPG for promoting peace and coexistence. During training session of VPG members, Mr. Abdul Razzaq stimulatingly shared,” it's all due to the initiatives of FDO operating for respectable cause and I am here as I belonged to SSP and the training location possessed by such individual who is associated with Fiqa-e-Jafria - Sect, but now we all from different sect are seated here together and learning for promoting peace and countering violent extremism”. Focused, hard work is the real key to success. Keep your eyes on the goal, and just keep taking the next step towards completing it. If you aren't sure which way to do something, do it both ways and see which works better. This story of Allah Dewaya no doubt is a good example of hard work, faith, determination towards achieving goals.

Allah Dewaya is resident of Chak No. 347 WB Tehsil Duniyapur of District Lodhran, which is one of the deprived parts of Southern Punjab. He was disable person that was the major aspect to bring him in cost-effective economic downturn that

obliges him to live in unpleasant life. Allah Dewaya was born as a normal child but lost his legs due to severe fever at the age of eight. After his marriage, he along with his mother separated from his brother's family and began to strive to earn for respective living. In the beginning, he disturbed enough and shattered with no choice but begging for survival of his mother and himself. Causing of his ongoing trust and bravery introduced sparkle in his optimistic sight and he approached to Prime Minister's Interest Free Loan (PMIFL) scheme in his area. He was encouraged for borrowing loan and to start his own business for dreaming of respective living. He borrowed a loan of Rs. 15,000 from FDO through PMIFL scheme. He started livestock business at domestic level by purchasing two goats. Determination was paid off and within few weeks his goat gave birth of two lambs. In a short period of seven month, he sold two lambs and earned Rs. 15,000. Now he had recovered his mislaid confidence and become more dynamics and creative to end his spot of poverty. Now he was running a Donkey trolley on lease to support his close relatives and his everyday making was about Rs. 250. He has reinvested from his preserving in buying a goat to match the needs of family's dairy requirements. His average income increased up to Rs. 8,000 per month and has also returned the loan installments. He has now on a tack to stand on his own feet and regain his lost confidence. Now He is greatly enjoying the respect he receives especially from the neighbor who consider him as their inspiration and visit him to seek guidance.

This real story of Azra Bibi who's struggle and determination beget an source of inspiration for those women who deprive from their legal rights and privileges just because of unawareness and less empowerment. Patience, Persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success. This success story is also reflecting the best example of a mother's patience, persistence and perspiration for achieving the goal.

Azra Bibi belonged to poor family and she got married with Mohammad Majeed in 2007. Her married life was not too good due to her husband cruel behavior and habit of domestic violence but she was a

patience lady and bearing all type of hardships just for the sake of their 03 minor children, 1 daughter and 2 sons. Later ston her husband Majeed married to another woman without his 1 wife's consent and decided to keep the children with

him. He expelled his first wife (Azra Bibi) from the house and denied her access to her former residence. Majeed forced Azra not to meet her children and kept them with him and their step-mother. There is evidence that their stepmother treated children unfairly and even abused them physically but Majeed did not interfere in the mater.

Unawareness and poverty were the major contributing factors to lose the self confidence of Azra bibi for claiming her legal rights of custodian to her minors. Azra Bibi approached to FDO Legal Service Center located in Bahawalpur through participating in a public outreach session organized by FDO and shared her problem with FDO team.

Legal Aid Lawyer of FDO Legal Service Center carefully listen the complaint and got consent of Azra Bibi to file a judicial case against Majeed for her children's custody. A petition under section 491 CRPC was prepared and filed. As a result, the petition disposed off in favor of petitioner/client and custody of 03 minor had been handed over to Azra bibi. Now she is living with her 03 children happily and Azra bibi thanked LSC Manager and other staff for resolving her issue through free legal aid.

Amanual 37 years old works as a sweeper in Pak German institute run by the Govt. of Punjab. Before his

appointment in TEVTA his father was also working as a sweeper in this department, who was expired during

service. That ultimately, Amanual joined the department as a sweeper in employee's son quota, since he is

performing his duties diligently, efficiently & honestly with the entire satisfaction of his supervisors. During his

service no complaint was made against him from department or other public. After the expiry of mandatory period

he moved an application to the department with the request to regularize his service but his application not

facilitated. While in identical case another person was regularized after mandatory period in employee son quota,

so he was discriminated from the fundamental right of regularization of his service. Provision of equitable justice

to all citizens is the adherence of social contract between state, department and its citizens. In the developing

world this adherence has been diluted. The citizens especially the poor and the vulnerable tend to lose their

identity as citizens as a result of this disillusionment. Amanual was also one of them who was facing this critical

situation then he heard about DLAC Multan through Radio program and contacted us for legal aid. DLAC Multan

THEME 4

Disaster and emergency response is the area where FDO has specialized in last few years. While it prepares communities to mitigate the risks of disasters, it focuses on responding to emergencies and early recovery. However, it helps to keep connecting communities to the organizations who are already working on the capacity building component of vulnerable communities.

Building Disaster Resilience in Pakistan ProjectFDO is implementing Building Disaster Resilience in Pakistan, a project of sixteen months (May 2017 to August 2018) funded by the DFID / Concern World Wide/ Dutch Welt Hungerhilfe (DWHH) (CAWI Consortium). It is pilot phase which is implementing in 4 UCs of Tehsil Kot addu, District Muzaffargarh and likely to be extended for 03 years after the completion of its pilot phase. The focus of the project is to improve the living standard of marginalized community with integrated approach. Shelter, Community Physical Infrastructure schemes, skill based trainings and provision of tool kits, Health & Nutrition and agricultural initiatives are the major domain of this project.

This program follows the multi sectorial approach to achieve the goals that leads to build the disaster resilience of the targeted communities. In coming year (2017-18) more achievements of this project will be shared in detail.
