JANUARY, 2011

NATIONAL YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP 5th - 8th January, Bangkok

CAT

Nine boys teams and six girls teams took part in the second National Youth Cricket

Championship which was held in Bangkok from 5th - 8th January 2011. The championship

consisted of 23 15-over matches were staged at the TCG and AIT grounds in Bangkok.

Boys: 1st Chiang Mai, 2nd Supanburi & 3rd Bangkok

Girls: 1st Chiang Mai, 2nd Bangkok & 3rd Uttaradit

Men’s Team: Group A: KHONKAEN, PHETCHABUN & SRISAKET

Group B: PHUKET, UTTARADIT & BANGKOK

Group C: CHIANGMAI, CHANTABURI & SUPANBURI

Women’s Team: Group A: BANGKOK, CHANTABURI & UTTARADIT

Group B: PHETCHABUN, SISAKET & CHIANGMAI

BPS INVITATIONAL SCHOOLS TOURNAMENT 22nd – 23rd January, Bangkok

BPS / CAT

Bangkok Patana School (BPS) completed another successful invitational tournament like every junior cricket season at their sports ground. The tournament consisted of three teams; Bangkok Stars, Bangkok Tigers and the newly invited Chiang Mai team. The 20 over tournament took place on the 22nd and 23rd of January at BPS consisting of U-16 players.

Chiang Mai continued to come out strong and undefeated by beating both the Bangkok teams in the last overs, while Bangkok Tigers beat the Bangkok Stars.

UNDER 19 CENTRALIZED CAMP 14th - 27th January, Bangkok

CAT

CAT held a training camp for the ACC U19 Elite Cup squad which was held in Bangkok from

the 14th to the 27th of January. This camp was used to work on areas of weaknesses which

were identified in the previous camps and in the previous practice matches.

ACC UNDER 19 ELITE CUP 1st - 10th February, Bangkok / Chiang Mai

ACC/CAT

Group A: Hong Kong, Qatar, Malaysia, Singapore & Bahrain

Group B: Afghanistan Nepal, UAE, Oman & Thailand

Thailand hosted the ACC Under-19 Elite Cup held in Bangkok & Chiang Mai from 1st to 10th

February, 2011. The ACC Under-19 Elite Cup has 10 teams from across Asia take part. The

teams were divided into two groups. Thailand managed to win 1 of their group matches

against Oman. Thailand finished the tournament placed 8th and retained their Elite ranking.

Afghanistan beat Nepal by 61 runs in the finals to claim the championship.

Final: Afghanistan v Nepal at TCG, Bangkok

AFGHANISTAN WON BY 61 RUNS

Afghanistan won the toss and chose to bat

Afghanistan: 200 for 9 off 50 overs (N.Haq 34, M.Paak 36*; P.Airee 5-43)

WOMEN'S CENTRALIZED CAMP 6th - 12th February, Chiang Mai

ACC

CAT held its final training camp for the women ACC Twenty20 squad, which was held in

Chiang Mai from the 6th to the 12th of February. This camp was used to work on areas of

weaknesses which were identified in the previous camps and in the previous practice

matches.

ACC WOMEN'S T20 TOURNAMENT 18th – 26th February, Kuwait

ACC/KCA

Group A: Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Bhutan & Oman

Group B: Thailand, Nepal, Malaysia, UAE & Kuwait

Thailand took part in the Asian Cricket Council Women Twenty20 Cup 2011 held in Kuwait

from 18th to 26th February. The tournament featured 10 Asian countries that were divided

into two groups.

Thailand performed exceptionally well. The Women’s team won three of their four groups

games and came in second in their group. Thailand lost to China in the Semi Finals by 53

runs. In the 3rd and 4th Place Playoff, Thailand beat Nepal by 13 runs to claim the 3rd place.

NATIONAL YOUTH GAMES 20th - 31st March, Uttradit

SAT

This year Thailand’s 27th annual National Youth Games

(Uttaradit Games) took place in Uttaradit from the 20th to the 31st of March, 2011. National

Youth Games are considered to be the pinnacle youth sport competition in Thailand. 12

provincial boys and 7 provincial girls cricket teams took part in this year’s games. The junior

ethnic cricketers from across Thailand competed in a total of 33 matches over 9 days at the

Technical College Ground.

In the boy’s final Khon Kaen beat Chiangmai by 14 runs to claim the title. Chanthaburi

finished third after beating Phuket by 6 wickets. In a thrilling girl’s final Bangkok beat Chiang

Mai by a wafer thin margin of 4 runs while Uttradit beat fellow newcomers Sisaket to the

claim the third position.

UNDER 14 CENTRALIZED CAMP 1st - 15th April, Chiang Mai

CAT

CAT held a training camp for the SEA Under 14 Tournament squad, which was held in Chiang

Mai from the 1st to the 15th of April. This camp was used to fine tune specific areas of

weaknesses.

SENIOR MEN AND WOMEN CENTRALIZED CAMP 1st - 30th April, Bangkok

CAT

CAT held a centralized training camp for the senior men and women’s teams. The

centralized training camp was conducted in Bangkok, at the TCG ground and the SAT

training facility from the 1st to the 30th of April. This camp was used to fine tune specific

areas of weaknesses.

SEA UNDER 14 TOURNAMENT 20th - 24th April, Chiang Mai

CAT

Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore & Thailand

CAT hosted the inaugural South East Asia under 14

Cricket Championship. SEA U14 Cricket Championship took place in Chiang Mai from the

20th to the 24th of April, 2011. A total 4 countries took this championship which consisted

of 8 35 over matches. Thailand fielded a completely new side made up of young players

from all over Thailand who have all come through the Cricket Association of Thailand’s

development programme. Malaysia beat Hong Kong by 8 wickets in an exciting final at

Prem. Thailand beat Singapore in their group matches and beat Singapore again by 5

wickets in the 3rd and 4th place playoff to finish the tournament placed 3rd.

ACC COACH EDUCATION COURSE LEVEL 2 21st – 26th April, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

ACC

2 members of CAT attended the 7 day ACC Coach Educator’s course which was conducted in

Penang, Malaysia from the 29th of March to the 4th of April. A total of 33 participants from

different countries took part in the course, Miss Sornnarin Tippoch and Miss Nattaya

Boochatham represented Thailand. The course was conducted by ACC. ACC Development

Officers and Turner Campbell Consultancy co-ordinated the proceedings.

The Annual General Meeting was held on the 29th of April at the Sports Authority of

CAT DEVELOPMENT MEETING 30th April, Bangkok

CAT

CAT held its bi-annual development meeting on the 30th of April at the Sports Authority of

Thailand complex. The meeting was attended by 22 people with development officers from

all the 12 different regions attending. During the meeting all 12 provinces highlighted their

achievements in terms of spreading cricket in their respective regions and suggested

improvements as to how cricket uptake can be accelerated even further and the

reconfiguration of annual objectives and strategies. All in all this edition of CAT bi-annual

development meeting was very constructive as it clearly defined the path which CAT needs

to follow in order to continue developing cricket in Thailand.

The ICC Annual General Meeting was held in Hong Kong this year from the 26-30th of June.

Chairman of CAT Mr. Ravi Seghal represented Thailand at this meeting.

ACC

The ACC Annual General Meeting was also held in Hong Kong this year on the 29th of June.

Mr. Ravi Seghal & Mr. Mohideen Kader attended this meeting.

TALENT ID PROGRAM 2nd - 6th July, North East

CAT

CAT conducted a 5 day Talent identification program was held in different regions from the

2nd – 6th of July. The purpose of this programme was to scout the local region for potential

cricketing talent which could be developed later on. This programme which was overseen

CAT/ACC LEVEL 1 UMPIRE EDUCATION COURSE 12th - 14th August, Phuket

CAT/ACC

CAT hosted a Level 1 Umpiring Course in Phuket from the 12th to 14th of August 2011. 15

participants took part in in the course which overviewed of all the cricket laws, an umpire’s

responsibilities and duties. The course was conducted by Mr. David Walker, Mr. Mohideen

A. Kader and Mr. Richard Folds. The purpose of the course was for CAT to build its pool of

umpires as cricket spreads into more regions and to support the growing number of boys

and girls introduced to cricket

SEA GAMES CENTRALIZED CAMP 10th - 31st October, Bangkok

CAT

In preparation for the With the South East Asian Games (SEA) to be held in Jakarta 2011,

CAT conducted its preliminary training camp with 30 boys and girls from national squads

along with some new boys and girls from different provinces. All the participants were

ethnic Thais. Most of the players were aged between 14 to 16 years old. The training camp

was held from 10th -14th August 2011 at the Bangkok Patana School, and Sports Authority

of Thailand facility.

CAT UMPIRES REFRESHER COURSE 21st - 23rd October, Bangkok

CAT

CAT hosted a Level 1 Coach Educators course in Bangkok with a view to update the umpires

of changes in the Laws of Cricket and discuss on local playing conditions.

CAT DEVELOPMENT MEETING 28th - 29th October, Bangkok

CAT

CAT held its second bi-annual development meeting on the 28th to the 29th of October at the

Sports Authority of Thailand complex. The meeting was attended by 22 people with

development officers from all the 12 different regions attending. During the meeting all 12

ACC MANAGEMENT COURSE 30th October - 3rd November, Kuala Lumpur

ACC

ACC hosted a Management Course for the Chief Executives, General Secretaries and

Treasurers of the ACC’s Associate and Affiliate members along with staff from the

Bangladesh Cricket Board and Sri Lanka Cricket in Kuala Lumpur, Mlaaysia. The program was

the second of its kind, following one held in Brunei in 2004. The presenters for the course

were ICC Global Development Manager Tim Anderson, ACC Development Manager Bandula

Warnapura, Head of Compliance at the ICC Ammar Sheikh, ESPN Star Sports’ Steve

Slater and two independent consultants, Peter Hanlon and Ross Turner. Three participaints

from Thailand took part in the course.

UNDER 16 CENTRALIZED CAMP 10th - 31st October, Bangkok

CAT

CAT hosted a U16 centralized camp in Bangkok from the 10th to the 31th of October. A total

of 19 participants took part in this camp. The camp was over seen by Khun Thiti Kader.

CAT LEVEL 1 COACHING COURSE 27th - 30th October, Bangkok

CAT

This course was postponed due to the flood conditions in Bangkok and surrounding areas.

SEA GAMES 18th - 22nd November, Jakarta, Indonesia

The organizers of the SEA Games informed at the last moment that Cricket had to be

cancelled from the Games. The team that had been training for this event for over 4

months was totally disappointed by this move.

ACC COACH EDUCATION COURSE LEVEL III 15th - 21st December, Sri Lanka

ACC/SLC

The high level coach education course was held in Colombo and was hosted by Sri Lanka

Cricket. Turner Campbell Consultancy and the ACC Development Officers conducted the

course. One participant from Thailand attended this course.

Postponed due to flood conditions.

UNDER 16 CENTRALIZED CAMP 15th - 29th December, Bangkok

CAT

CAT conducted a centralized camp at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) for two week consisting of various drills for skill enhancement, games and theories. The camp started on the 15st till the 29th. The camp helped in respect to team building, specific skills and further differentiate the different laws and strategies.

UNDER 19 WOMEN'S CENTRALIZED CAMP 15th - 29th December, Chiang Mai

CAT

The ACC U-19 Women’s Championship 2012 will be hosted in Kuwait from 1st to 10 February 2012. CAT conducted another successful training camp with 25 girls from different provinces across Thailand. The camp consisted of girls ranging from 15 to 17 years old primarily grass root players whom CAT aims to develop continuously even after the tournament. The camp was conducted in Doi-Saket, Chiang Mai at CAT’s new facility consisting of skills, short games and fitness.
