At the outset I would like to thank you all for responding to our invitation and gracing the occasion amidst the busy schedule. As we share the yearly updates of our activities, we take the modesty to say that we did our best to do as we had planned and we are proud that our students and teachers who strived hard to achieve beyond expectations. We have focused on the holistic development of students. I feel proud and privileged to present before the august gathering the annual report 2017 in nut shell. We are glad to share the news that this year we have started our maiden +1 batch. This academic year began on 5th June by lighting the lamp and distributing sweets. The opening day message was given by our beloved Principal. The school organized a rousing reception for the fresher’s and the returning students .The high light of the reopening ceremony was the sparkling performances of our students. Honouring all the full A1 students in the AISSE Examination was the cynosure of all eyes. Our Kindergarten reopened on June 7th. Tiny tots enjoyed the reopening day celebration with enthusiasm. It was a novel experience for them. AISSE EXAMINATION 2016-17 Excellence in academics is the hall mark of a good institution. The class X results of the school proved without an iota of doubt that our students have made us proud. Out of 100 students appeared in the AISSE 2017. 35 students got full A1 in all subjects. Our students have performed remarkably well by achieving 100% results for the second consecutive year as well. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES. Students are the blue prints of our ultimate achievements. Keeping this fact in mind our vibrant teachers have been shouldering the responsibilities in a well defined manner. For every event and activity teachers were assigned specific responsibilities. Under the able guidance of our Principal, teachers have been putting their best efforts and have monitored and mentored the students to unleash their talent and prove their potential whether it is academics or out of box activities. SCHOOL PARLIAMENT School election for the school parliament was held with an authentic election process. Alen A. Thankchen and Sruthi J. Nair were elected as the head boy and head girl for the academic year 2017-18.

Out of 100 students appeared in the AISSE 2017. 35 students got full A1 in all subjects. School election for the school parliament was held with an authentic election process. Alen A. Thankchen and Sruthi J. Nair were elected as the head boy and head girl for the academic year 2017-18.

GUIDANCE AND COUNSELLING PROGRAMME.

Counselling classes were conducted from time to time by eminent persons who tried to instill in students the moral ethical values there by to enhance the discipline and behavior. Special mention to Sister Ananda SIC, special counsellor who is always in the forefront whenever needed.

FACULTY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAMME.

“Teachers are also learners” Staying updated is the key to success in any field especially in the field of Education. Our teachers constantly strive to stay updated by attending workshops and various training programmes.

A few of them are listed below:

1. Various workshops for language teachers and subject teachers were held enlightening the innovative methods of classroom teaching.

2. A talk on class room management by the eminent resource person Sir Thomas Kutty Principal of St.Johns college Anchal on 15 may, 2017

3. An induction programme by the most experienced resource person Mr Abhishad on classroom planning and management on 16 May 2017

4. A counseling class was conducted by eminent resource person Mr Madhusudanan Pillai on 9th January 2018.

STUDENT ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME

To ensure that our students are well equipped with self confidence to face any challenge, we have focused on few student enrichment programmes as follows-

1. An awareness class on cyber cell by Mr. Manoj C.I of Haripad to make students aware of cyber crime.

2. A motivational class by Mr Madhusudanan Pillai a renowed motivator on easy mathematics was held on 4th January 2018.

3. An awareness programme on Dengue fever by a team of Doctors of Vandanam Medical College to sensitize students about the disease.

4. Two movies, Sugamayirikkatte & Don’t do papa was screened to raise the moral values & create and awareness on social issues.

5. A team of resource persons from InfoTech conducted a career guidance class for students of Standard XI.

PTA

The school is meticulously following the practice of parent teacher meeting, after every assessment to discuss the problem of the students. This practice has helped us in assessing the strengths and weakness for applying corrective measures. Remedial teachings for slow learners and special classes for the gifted are taken up regularly.

HOUSE AND CLUB ACTIVITIES

Clubs namely, English Club, Malayalam club, Hindi Club, Mathematics Club, Health Club, SS, Science & Eco Club, Anti Addiction club functions efficiently in our school. Four houses that function in our school are Red, Blue Green & Yellow. The teacher in charge motivates and inspires the children to develop their aesthetic sensibilities and spirit of cooperation.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

By providing a conducive environment students are motivated to participate in a variety of Intra School & Inter school competitions. They are also given enough opportunities to unleash their talents in various activities.

SAHODAYA CBSE DISTRICT AND STATE KALOTSAV

Our students have proved their talent and excelled in many items in CBSE Kalotsav not only in the District level but also in the in the state level. Sahodaya District Level fest was held at Believers Church English medium school and State level at IES Public School, Chittilappilly.

The following are a few glimpses of the excellence of our school in the individual items.

Category 1 - Recitation Hindi - I, Painting Crayon - II, Folk Dance - III, & Light Music -II.

Category II - Elocution Hindi - 1, Essay writing (MAL) - II, Folk Dance - I, Recitation Arabic - III, Pencil Drawing - III

Category III - Story Writing Hindi - II, Extempore Hindi - 1, English - I, Anchoring – II, Versification English - I, Pencil Drawing, Mimicry, Collage, Folk Dance(Boys), Mappilappatu - III,

Category IV - Recitation Sanskrit – II, Hindi – I, Mohiniyattom - II, Collage - III, Digital Painting - III, Cartoon –III, Story Writing Mal, Hindi - III, Mappilappattu – III Guitar – III.

And in the group items, Thiruvathira – I, Oppana – I for Cat - III & II FOR Cat - IV, PPT - II Position For CAT - III & PPT - III position for Category IV. Group song – II Prize, Group Dance category – II Third Position, Duff mutt Cat-IV – II prize.

A special mention to our vibrant Band team as it bagged first prize in the district level and consecutively for the second time, second position in the State level.

Out of 62 schools participated we are proud to highlight that our school secured 5th position in the zilla level and in the state level it ranked 18th position.

Our school was announced first runner up in the new generation items and it was a maiden victory for us

KERALA CATHOLICS STUDENTS LEAGUE

For the first time our 35 grooming buds have participated in the competitions conducted by KCSL. We are delighted to share the excellent results. All the 35 students grabbed accolades.

DCL TALENT FEST

Our talented students proved their mettle in DCL talent as well. They bagged overall trophy for our school.

SPORTS MEET.

Our institution, right from the inception have always been focusing on the holistic development of students. Apart from academics, sports and games were also given prime priority. A sound mind in a sound body is the motto, we instill in the minds of new generation. A part from academics sports and games are given equal importants in our curriculum. Annual sports day was celebrated on August 29 & 30.The sports day began with the lighting of the torch and the students took an oath of sportsmanship read by the school leader and thus the events started with full enthusiasm. Mr. Manoj C.I of Haripad was the Chief guest on the Occasion .

Our kindergarten also celebrated the sports day on August 19th with utmost Zest and fervor.

Under the able guidance of Mr. Tharanath our physical education teacher our students proved their talent in Alappuzha sahodaya sports meet 2017.

In the CBSE sahodaya atheletic meet Angelin Abraham secured first position and Vivek K. Pillai Secured second position in shot-put under Category under 14.

SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATIONS.

This academic year few scholarship Examinations like DCL, PCM, IMSE, and NASO were held. IMSE results were announced in the month of December. We are delighted to share that 12 students secured below 10 Ranks. Our students also secured good marks in PCM and NASO. Muhammed Aftab of Second standard added one more feather to the cap of Bethany by securing First Rank in the Dcl Scholarship Examination.

CELEBRATIONS AND MAJOR EVENTS

1. Independence Day Celebration:-Independence Day was celebrated with great pomp and vigour. Apart from flag hoisting an array of colorful programmes were organized. The event was marked by PRAYANAM, a special programme organized by Nalanda School of arts to create an awareness of Freedom Movement. Mr. Paul disguised as Gandhiji in reel & real life arousing the ever lasting memories of our all time favourite “Bapuji” grabbed the attention of the audience.

2. Onam Celebration: Onam was celebrated with glimpse of nostalgic tradition that our Ancestors

followed. Mr. Joseph William our special guests on the day shared his beautiful Onam Memories. The students celebrated and enjoyed the day with Pookalam, House wise Competition, Thiruvathirakali, pulikali and Vadam vali. Channel Kochu TV gave an exposure by giving a wide coverage of all the programmes held in the school.

3. Christmas Celebration:- Christmas is a spirit of giving without the thought of getting and

spreading the emotion of love .To instill this thought in children Christmas was celebrated with great pomp. Our beloved Principal conveyed the Message of love and mercy. A congregation of activities was organized in a befitting manner. General body principal meeting held here on the same day added a dual sparkle to this auspicious occasion.

4. Children’s Day Celebration: - Children’s Day was celebrated with great vigor in kindergarten and in our school.

5. Yoga Day Celebration: - A three day yoga session was conducted in connection with Yoga day under the able guidance of our yoga guru Sri Jyothi Babu.

All other important occasions like Environment day, Readers day, Kerala piravi, Teachers Day were celebrated in a due manner.

SOCIAL AWARENESS PROGRAMME.

To encourage the spirit of Compassion in students, as part of Nallapadam programme, our students paid a visit to Vandanam Medical College and distributed Onam kits to the patients. On the basis of eco friendly atmosphere and energy conservation, out of 306 schools participated 38 schools were short listed and our school was one among them for winning Wonderla Environment and Energy Conservation award, instituted by Wonderla Amusement Park.

CHARITY:-

Our Sincere thanks and appreciation to the students, teachers and parents for their voluntary contributions for noble causes. Here is the statistics below to learn how we had put donation to good use this academic year.

1. We have contributed an amount of RS 17000/-to various charitable institutions to help the poor and

needy.

2. An amount OF Rs.75000/- was contributed to few students of our school for medical aid.

3. An amount of Rs10000/-was given to a parent for treatment

4. For a Kidney patient we have contributed Rs 40000/- for his further treatment.

5. To Okhi relief funds an amount of Rs 60,000/- was contributed by the institution.

6. We have collected an amount of Rs.225000/- to lend a helping hand for the construction of a house to

the one in need.

7. An amount of Rs.100000 was spent for onam kit distribution to the patience in Vandanam Medical

College.

TRIPS

This year students had wonderful moments to cherish as trips were arranged to different places. Our tiny tots from kindergarten enjoyed a marvelous trip to Adoor Green valley and our L.P Section to Magic Planet. UP Section enjoyed the trip to Trivandrum. Students of standard 5, 6, 7 & 8 cherished their wonderful moments in Veega land, std 9 to Mysore Ooty , Coorg and std 10 & 11 to Hyderabad for 3 day trip.

SPLASH MAGAZINE

”Ideas shape the course of History as the pen is mightier than the sword”

This Academic Year School our school has come out with its maiden magazine Splash “before the readers recapturing the schooldays and activities. This magazine provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and creativity and explore new vistas of life.

FOND REMEMBRANCE

27.06.2017 is a dark day as we have witnessed a withered rose from the Bethany Garden. Aimy Arun of standard IV passed away unexpectedly in a tragic accident. May her soul rest in peace.

MERITORIOUS CASH AWARD

The kith and kin of our beloved Late Mrs. Preetha Tr in her fond remembrance has announced a meritorious cash award to students in recognition of their merit and memento to the best articulator to encourage their skills in academics and English Communication.

On this occasion, we remember the honourable founder of Bethany, the servant of God, the heavenly patron, His Lordship Arch Bishop Mar Ivanios, His excellency Moronmore Baselios Mar Clemis Catholica Archdiocese Thiruvananthapuram, His excellency Most Rev: Dr. Joshua Mar Ignathios, Bishop of Mavelikara Diocese, honourable priests who strive for the growth and development of this school and our Mother provincial Rev. Mother Hridya SIC, our local manager, dedicated Rev: sisters of Bethany and the previous in charges of Bethany family.

Before concluding the report I bow my head in reverence to the almighty god for the blessings he has showered upon this institution. All these achievements are made possible due to the commitment of the management the teaching staff, the supporting staff, students, parents, well wishers and the blessings of the Almighty.

Let me conclude the report by entrusting our school to the divine hands and invoke blessings of Lord Jesus for the journey ahead.
