We are pleased to share our Annual Report with you. In many respects, 2015 was a very exciting year, giving us the opportunity to meet with several key people in our network. In fact, a committee comprising of Mr. Guy Courchesne, President of the Board, Mr. Robert Bélisle, FCPA, FCA and Mrs. Sophie Labrecque, Executive Director, had the privilege of meeting with religious communities and provided them with an information session on the Roncalli International Foundation’s various donation options. More than 99 religious men and women took part in these meetings. Already this year, we have started discussions with many Canadian religious communities. We are honoured that people have so much confidence in our organization.

We also embarked on several rewarding missions around the world, meeting with religious communities, organizations and local authorities to plan for the future. The purpose of these missions was to create information tables about the Roncalli International Foundation in order to better orchestrate aid requests, follow up on our projects, convey our expectations and understand what is needed. We visited Haiti several times as well as Honduras, Cameroon and Tanzania. Our model of intervention FORCE (strength) is particularly relevant in these countries, whose people are some of the poorest in the world.

Great challenges lie ahead for us in the next few years. We have designed an action plan that will allow us to conduct our regular programs while we improve the way in which we support and follow up with our partners, get to know the all those who are part of our network and develop the technological tools required to do this.

And let’s not forget our 35th anniversary, which we celebrated at the 5e Salle of the Place des Arts with the Minstrels of Hope, a choir of young girls and women from the Philippines! The Foundation team also put on quite a performance, forming a choir of its own for the occasion. With more than 250 people in attendance, it was an evening of pure joy for all.

We hope we can count on your ongoing support so we may continue to take on the many projects that are brought to our attention each year. With these ever-increasing requests, the Foundation is becoming a major project funder. Attached to this report, you will find a list of exceptional organizations that realize these projects.

Thanks to the generosity and confidence of the Foundation’s contributors and partners and the faith they have place in our organization, we have been able to perform its good deeds swiftly and efficiently. In this report, you will read about the impact of their support, which has created many more opportunities for sharing.

We would also like to take this opportunity to once again thank you on behalf of all those who have benefited from your contributions. Your continued support demonstrates the relevance of the mission of the Roncalli International Foundation. Helping the poorest is the true meaning of Providence; committing to it every day is a calling.

It is an honour to have each one of you as a partner and we hope that, in reading our report and learning about all the activities that took place in 2015, you will see our passion, enthusiasm and dedication to making the world a better place.

Please enjoy reading our report. Our heartfelt thanks to all of you!

35 YEARS 94 COUNTRIES 9,133 PROJECTS

We want to express our sincere gratitude to religious communities and donors for their loyalty, their compassion and their confidence that the Foundation and its partners would successfully achieve projects throughout the years.

The work we do at the Roncalli International Foundation is unique because we provide support and guidance at all levels, a key factor in the success of the projects we fund.

This success is also achieved with the support of our network: the World of Roncalli. Our network includes religious communities and international organizations that, through local Canadian organizations, allow us to provide support and guidance to international projects.

The World of Roncalli also includes local communities for whom these projects fulfill a fundamental need.

FONDS MISSI-SAGESSE

The Congregation of the Daughters of Wisdom, remaining true to its foun-ders, Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort and the Blessed Marie-Louise de Jésus, continues to be involved in missions that help the poorest people in several countries: Argentina, Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, Malawi, Papua New Guinea, Peru and the Philippines. Sister Jeannelle Daigle, fdls and many other sisters in her order have done remarkable work through the Fonds Missi-Sagesse.

In 2015, this Fund was entrusted to the Roncalli International Foundation, which will continue the work of the Daughters of Wisdom of Canada on their behalf.

WE ARE WRITING HISTORY

To mark its 35th anniversary, the Roncalli International Foundation is paying tribute to all religious and lay missionaries who have dedicated their lives to helping the poorest people in the developing world. In a new book, we will show how missionary work has changed from bygone years to today, by tel-ling the stories of sixteen missionaries in different parts of the world.

The book will be available in 2016!

EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND – HAITI

After the 2010 earthquake, the Emergency Relief Fund – Haiti was established with the specific goal of rebuilding infrastructure for religious communities as well as local and Canadian organizations so that they could continue their missions and work for the Haitian people.

In cooperation with two of the Foundation’s valued and loyal partners, Fund 1’s fourteen major infrastructure projects were successfully completed, meeting all international requirements for ear-thquake-resistant construction.

During our 35th anniversary celebration, we drew attention to the important contributions of Mr. Guypsy Michel, Regional Director, Haiti-Caribbean of CECI-Haiti, Mr. Alfred Étienne, General Coordinator of FODES-5 (INNODEV), Mr. Michel Guillemette and the entire Roncalli International Foundation team.

These achievements would not have been possible without their help. Thank you for your invaluable efforts!

Five years later, we are proud to announce that the Emergency Relief Fund – Haiti will continue. The Roncalli International Foundation is reaffirming its commitment to the Haitian people with additional funding to support community projects that had not received any other outside assis-tance. These projects will focus on activities that empower participants and provide them with income.

At the Foundation, we know how important it is for people to have access to safe water for drinking and farming.

Not only do we believe that it is crucial for people to have access to safe water, but we also want women and children to be closer to a well. When women and children reduce the time they spend walking for water, they can invest that time in training programs to improve their quality of life.

IN 2015, WITH AN INVESTMENT OF $440,262,

THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTED 29 PROJECTS THAT IMPROVED ACCESS TO DRINKING WATER FOR 82,098 PEOPLE.

Area of intervention Education

Description

Located in the centre of Benin, Savè is a city in the Collines Department in which most families make a living by farming.

Due to a lack of jobs, young people are moving to bigger cities. This makes the area poorer and means that children, especially young girls, do not have proper access to education.

Setting up three classrooms for a kindergarten will make it possible for the sisters to teach children aged 3 to 5, providing them with a decent basic education.
