World Environment Day –“Beat Plastic Pollution” SoundaryaCentralSchoolcelebratedWorldEnvironmentDayon5June2018withthetheme“BeatPlasticPollution”.TheManagement,Principal,Coordinatorsalongwithteachersandstudentsstartedthedaybylightingthelampfollowedbyprayersong.GradeXstudentsmarkedthedaywithspeechesonplasticawarenessprogramme.

Saplingtheplantsbyourdignitariesalongwiththestudentsmarkedtheendoftheday’sprogrammethatencouragedstudentstojointhecampaigntomakeourearthabetterplacetolive.Studentswereacknowledgedtotheconceptofecofriendlylifestyle.

HAL Aircraft MuseumGrade 4 and 5 students visited 78years old HAL Heritage Centre andAerospace,museumon6June2018.Museumislocatedamidstofgarden.Itharboursseveralaircraftmodelsfewdatedbacktotheyear1940..Almost80% of the aircraft spare parts aremanufacturedinHALBangalore.

Students adventured the outdoordisplay of aircrafts such asMARUT<MTG -21, HT-2. KIRAN, CANBERA,AJEET LAKSHYA (Pilot less TargetAircraft). It was very informativevisit where students gathered goodinformation.

International Yoga DayTohaveaholisticapproachtowardshealthandwellbeingwecelebrated InternationalYogaDayon21June2018.ThestudentsofGradeItoXhadgreatopportunitytolearnthebenefitsofYoga.ThestudentsperformedyogicexercisesanddifferentAsanaslikeThadasana,Paschimottasana,andUthkatasanaetc.Themainaimwastoraiseawarenessand ignitepassionforfitnessandyogaamongthestudents.FinallythesessionendedwithShanthiManthra.

Iskon Visit

On18July,2018Grade1studentsvisitedISKON Temple Rajajinagar Bangalore.The students were accompanied by theirteachers.Theyspentfewhoursinthecalmandsereneenvironmentofthetemple.Thestudents were taken to the Gallery Walkwhere Idols, books, souvenir and picturesof Lord Krishna’s life were displayed.Delicious Prasad was relished by youngdevotees.Thevisitwasanoptexampleoflearningbeyondtheclassroom.

Krishna - Janmashtami3 September was a special day at schoolas Krishna Janmashtami, the birth of LordKrishna was celebrated with great pompandfestivitybythetinytotsoftheprimarysection. Dressed as Radha and Krishnathey gave a traditional touch to the entirecelebration. The cute Radha Krishna pairsdancedtothebeatsofJanmashtamisongsfillingtheairwithjoyandfestivespirit.

Independence Day School celebrated Independence Daywith unprecedented patriotic fervour on15August 2018.Our chief guestMr ASKirankumarformerChairmanofISROwaswelcomed by our Dignitaries. The chiefguest unfurled the Tricolour Flag followedby intone of national anthem. The gamutof celebration started with an impressiveparade. Students marched in contingentsto the beat of drum. To commemoratethe sovereignty of our nation an array ofprogrammeswereorganized.

Studentsfromgrade1toXparticipatedingivingspeeches, renderingpatrioticsongsandsoon.Thechiefguestwashonouredand gave an informative speech. Hindi DiwasHindi Diwas was celebrated on 14September with great enthusiasmby all grades. Various activities likedebate, essay, poem and story writingwere arranged to commemorate andcelebrateournationallanguage.Primarystudents gave inspirational speechesontheimportanceofnational language.Middle School students participated inparagraph writing, riddles, & pick andspeakonHindipoetsandwriters.Debateand essay writing competitions wereheld for Secondary Sections. It was avery eventful day to witness eloquentparticipation.

Second Inter School Soundarya Swim MeetSCS has successfully conducted 2nd Inter School Soundarya Swim Meet. On 31August school hosted “2nd Interschool SwimMeet”. Participating schools includedDPS[South,North,andEast],VidyanikethanSchoolandotherreputedorganizationsacrossBangaloreandotherpartsofKarnataka.Swimmersexcellentlydisplayedtheirsportsmanship.Mr.SrihariNataraj -“TheMedalMachineofIndianSwimming“hadpresidedasthechiefguestwithothermembersofthemanagement.

AGroupsongonSabarmathiKeSanth.....stoletheshow.StudentsfromGradeIandIIwateredtheplants,GradeIIIandIVwereinvolvedcuriouslyincleaningthegardenwith“SwachhBharath”manifesto.SCSwassuccessfulincelebratingthemeaningfulbirthanniversaryofGandhijitokeepSwachhBharathCampaignatthepeak.

Dasara & OnamDasaraor“NadaHabba”fillsthespiritoffestivity.Itbringsuniqueperceptionoftriumphover evil and significance of worshipping the goddesses of Navarathri. Our schoolalwaystakesleadtocelebratesuchfestiveoccasions.Studentsartfullycelebratedthe“NadaHabba”.Grade Iandgrade IIperformedpoojawithcreativelydesignedaarthithalis.BeautifullydecoratedspongedollsmadebygradeIIItoVweredisplayedwhichwereeye-catching.

Diyas were lit to reinforce themessage that “Good always triumphs over evil andspreadslight(knowledge)byexpellingdarkness(ignorance)”.

OnamwascelebratedbysettingupattractivefloraldecorationPookalambystudents.

Kannada Rajyotsava 63rdKannadaRajyotsavawascelebratedwith great pomp and show. Theprogrammebeganwithlightingthelampby Principal Mrs Renuka Devi and theCoordinators.TheCampuswasbuzzingwithenthusiasmandgreatfervourfilledwith thecoloursof redandyellow.Thestudentsputascintillatingperformanceto depict the rich culture and heritageofKarnataka.Avarietyofentertainmentprogrammesthatincludeddance,drama,vachanasandsongswerepresentedbystudents.

Students performed “DanceDrama “onHoysala dynasty, captured the spirit oftheday.KidsenthralledtheaudiencebydancingtothetunesofpopularKannadasongs. Principal Mrs Renuka Devispecifiedtheimportanceoftheday.

SCSalwaysstrivestoemergeoutwithsomethingnewforitsstudents.Children’sdaybeingaspecialdayforthemwascelebratedtopaytributetoourfirstPrimeMinisterPanditJawaharlalNehrupopularlyknownasChachaNehru.

TheeventstartedwithafloraltributefollowedbyaninvocationsongbyMrs.Manjula.Schoolprefectswereinvitedaschiefguestsoftheday.ThePrincipalthrewlightonthelifeandachievementsofPanditJawaharlalNehruandmotivatedthestudentstofollowhisteachings.

CulturalprogramspresentedbythestudentsofGradeItoXwerereallyexuberant.FashionShowwasperformedbyGradeXsetthestageonfire.Teachersalsogavevarious performances to make children cheerful. The campus was buzzing withexcitementandjoy.Thedayendedinabeautifulresonancelingeringineverybody’sminds.Theentireprogrammewasprovedmemorableforstudents.

Awakened Citizen Program The vision on education by SwamiVivekananda is the basis of AwakenedCitizenProgram(ACP).Theinfinitestrengthand potential inherent in every child canbemanifestedaswonderfulpossibilitiesineverywalkoflife.ACPseekstoempowerstudents in real and tangible ways todevelop as enlightened citizens whocan stand on their own feet and makeresponsiblechoices.

SCS Sports Day5thAnnualSportsMeetwasheldon22and23November2018.Numeroussportseventswereorganized. Individual events suchasRunningRace,Relay,HopRace,Japanesewalk andmanymore exciting eventswere held. Cricket andBasketballmatcheswereheld for thestudentsofgradeVII toX.Thewinnersof thecrickettournamentwerethemembersofSatyendraNathBosehouseandrunnersupwereSatishDhawanhouse.TheBasketBallwinnerswereofVikramSarabhaihouseandrunnersupwereofSathyendranathBosehouse.Eventuallysportsmeet2018-19wasagrandsuccess.

Special AssembliesSpecialAssembliesareconductedwithcompleteandactiveparticipationofstudentsi.e primary Monday to Wednesday and secondary from Thursday to Saturday toacquaintstudentswithschoolactivitiesprogrammesandcurrentaffairstodevelopa feelingof affiliation and unity among students. It’s the training for good socialbehaviourdesiredinpubliclife.FewspecialassemblieslikeRallyforrivers,Communityhelpers,NotoJunkfoodfocusedoncurrentissues.

Dental Health Camp @ SCSSCS collaborated with a team of seniordentistsledbyDr.PrathikshaandDr.AishaSiddiquetoorganisefreedentalcheck-upandawarenesscamp inschoolpremisesfrom3rdto5thDecember.

The camp included dental awarenesstalk educating students about commondental ailments especially stressing ontooth decay and gum diseases and themeasurestakentopreventthem.

Theyoungstudentscherishedthechancetointeractwiththedentisttoenquireandgainknowledgeabouttheiroralhealthandmaintaininggoodoralhygiene.

Ganit WeekMathematicsisascienceinwhichwestudylawsofnatureconnectingwithnumbercomputingandcalculations.Itdealswiththelogicofshapequantityandarrangement.Mathematicsisqueenofscience.Tocommemorate thebirthanniversaryofSri.SrinivasaRamanujanageniusmathematicianand toactivelypromote interestofstudents, “GanitWeek”wascelebrated inourschool.Activitiessuchaspuzzle,postermaking,math-o-art,patternmakingusinggeometricalshapes-circleandpartsofcircle,superminute,essaywriting,quizandSudokuwereconductedfromGrade1toX.Thestudentswereengagedtodisplaytheircreativeexpression,artwork,quickanalysingandproblemsolvingability.Prizesweredistributedtoencourageparticipation.DanceperformanceonGeometricalshapes,SkitonBODMASandimportanceofmathswasperformed.

Christmas CelebrationSCS celebrated Christmas with greatfervour and enthusiasm. Grade 1 kidsworeafestivelook(Santa).Thechildrenenjoyed the day fabulously with theChristmastheme,songanddance.AshortskitonLordJesusbirthwasperformed.The spirit of giving and sharing wasinculcated among the tiny tots as theyexchanged exquisitely packed giftswith each other. The boundless joy ofcelebratingthefestivalwasamplyvisibleamong children especially when Santamovedarounddistributingsweets.

Primary ExpeditionTravelandchangeofplaceimpactnewvigortothemind.SchoolexcursionsaddrealitytothelearningexperienceswhichconsequentlyenrichesthecourseofstudyandmotivatesbothteachersandstudentsOn28DecemberstudentsofGrade1to3visitedtheBigBarnFarminBannerghattaalongwiththeirteachers.Theyexperiencedthedifferentactivitieswhereintheywereaskedtosowseedsinthepots,feedhaytotheanimalslikehorse,cow,andbuffalo.Enjoyedthetractordrivetogoaroundthefarm.Studentsrockedtothemusicofraindanceafterthetastyfood.Theexperiencewasrichwiththecontentrelevanttothescienceandnature.Studentswentthroughthenewvisionofscienceeducationaboutorganicfarming.Students ofGrade4 and5 experienced the joy of rural living in a home, away fromhomeatMadhuvananearKanakapura.Studentsexperiencedtypicalvillageinallitsrusticcharmandnaturalsplendour. It isaplacewhereartisans, farmersandhome industryentrepreneursfromacrossKarnatakashowcasedtheirindividualskillsinavarietyofarts,crafts,culture,delicaciesandagricultureproduce.Theywereexposedtothevillagelifethemostnaturallifeforthehumanbeings.Itwasagreatexperienceforthemtoseethenatureveryclosely.

Students were fascinated by watching the making of Channapatna toys and jaggery,beekeeping(apiculture)etc.Finallytheyenjoyedraindance.Thetripwasinformativeandfun-filled.


New Year CelebrationSoundaryans celebrated the day withgreat enthusiasm. Students were incolourful attire and daywas joyful withlotsofprizesforthewinnersofGKquizand Ganith Week. They enjoyed withdances and songs. Principal inspiredthe students by enlighting them aboutthe value of time and take it as theirresolutionof2K19.

Manjappa,Managing DirectorMrs. Sunitha PManjappa, CEOMr. Keerthan Kumar,ManagingTrusteeMrs.PrathikshaKeerthanKumarandMr.VarunKumar,PrincipalMrs.RenukaDevi,CoordinatorsMrs.AnupamaPatilandVeenaSunil.Lightingthelampbythedignitariesgaveastartertotheprogrammefollowedbydevotionalprayersong.PrincipalreadouttheAnnualReportoftheSchool.ChiefGuestwasfelicitatedandaddressedthegatheringwith her thoughtful words. ChairmanSir also conveyed hismessage to theparentsandthegathering.Studentswereawardedfordifferentcategorieslikeattendancecurricularandco-curricularachievements.SchoolChampionshiptrophywasbaggedbyVikramSarabhaiHouse.Themaineyecatchingmomentwas the “Ramayana: MusicalPhysicaltheatre”.Childrengaveascintillatingperformancewhichenthralledtheaudience.Theircharacterswerevivid.TheeveendedwithvoteofthanksandNationalAnthem.

High School ExpeditionAccordingtoFrancisBacon, travelling isapartofeducation.Anexcursion isnotapleasuretrip; itenhancestheknowledgeof thestudentsbeyondthefourwallsoftheclassroom.Toprovidesuchanenrichingexperiencetostudents,schoolorganisesexcursiontofamousresorts/placeseveryyear.Educationaltourispartandparcelofthelifeofstudents.Studentsneedrestandentertainmentafterworkinghardformanydays.

Excursionformsanescaperoutefromtheirhecticschoolschedule.Studentsofgrade6,7and8developedlovefornatureandgotrealhappinesswhentheygotachancetovisit“RDRetreatResort”.RDRetreatresortgaveanexperienceofbeingsurroundedbygreeneryandthebeautyofnature.Thestudentswereextremelyexcitedandhappy.TheywerewelcomedbythestaffofResortandwereamazedtoseethehillfortrekking.Adeliciousbreakfastfollowedbytrekkingexhilaratedthestudents.Theyplayedfewcrazygameswhichwereorganizedbythemembersoftheresort.

Atripforgrade9and10from23to26Decembertogod’sowncountryKeralaWayandwasrollicking.SightseeingstartedfromteaestatesofWayanadtothemarvellousbeautyofmountains.StudentsvisitedPookodLakeandenjoyedboating.OnDay2studentsenjoyedtheSoochiparawaterfalls.Childrenrejoicedplayinginnaturalwaterfalls.ThelastvisitwastoKarpuzhadamwhichwasalluring.Threedayswerememorableforallstudents.

Republic DaySchoolcelebratedRepublicDaywithgreatfervour on 26 January. CEO KeerthanKumar hoisted the flag and addressedteacherstopromotepatriotisminchildren.

Mathribhasha DiwasSchool celebratedMatribhasha Diwas (Mother Language Day) on 21 February topromotethedisseminationofthemothertongue,tocreateawarenessoflinguisticandcultural traditions throughout theworldand to inspiresolidaritybasedon theunderstanding,toleranceanddialogue.Studentsintheirregionalattiresspokeandsangabouttheorigin,importanceandfounderoftheirlanguages.

Theygrabbedaudienceattentiontothediversityoftheculturesandtheconsequentformsofliterature,performingartsandotherformsofcreativeexpression.

Saraswathi PoojaIt was celebrated on 22 Febraury. On thisauspicious day of Saraswati pooja, thestudentsandfacultyofSCScametogetherto seek the blessings of the goddess ofknowledge to have a successful academicandcarriergrowth.

TheDutcheducatorswishedtomakefrequentvisitsinfuturetointernationalizethemutuallearningandcollaboratetheIndo-Dutcheducationalcurriculum.

StudentswereinspiredandmotivatedbytheDutchmethodologytocompeteglobally.Ourstudentshadinformativeinteractionofexchangingtheirknowledgeperceptions.

WomeninIndiaattimesaresubjectedtothehonourkillingandtheyarenevergiventheirbasicrightsforthepropereducationandfreedom.Theyarethevictimsofviolenceandabuseinmaledominatedcountry.ToenshieldwomenintheIndianSocietycertainsturdyandimpregnablestepsshouldbetaken.
