Welcome Back
• Welcome back to the course after the teaching break• A lot has changed, so we’ll go over everything in this lecture
• Although it can be hard to concentrate at a time like this, we all need something to give us purpose
• If you are struggling, the university has developed this page
Timetable (General)
• The 2 week midterm break will go ahead as usual from next week.• This means that there will be 7 weeks of lectures and labs after the
break, and the final exam period is delayed a week.
• Census date delayed until 8 May.
Lectures
• Slides on the website, Audio on Echo360• To be uploaded at similar times to the old lecture schedule• Use Piazza afterwards for questions and answers
• 1130: I am investigating the possibility of a more interactive modality for lectures after the break
• The planned Michael Norrish guest lecture has been delayed until then
Labs
• Lab sign-ups are now closed.• Many of you will have already sat your first online lab.• Information about how to do so is on our resource page
• Your tutors may have changed! See here for contact details.
• You have until 11pm this Friday to submit your work from Lab 4; after that you will return to the usual schedule of submitting by the start of next lab.

• Running every day from 4-5pm as before.• Just log in to Microsoft Teams and you’ll see tutors will have a
meeting going.
PAL’s New Structure• PAL is still here, helping you
understand and practice content.
• We can no longer run any sessions… :(
• But new worksheets are and will continue to be uploaded on the COMP1100 website.

• The Midterm Exam, Engagement Hurdle, and Advanced Hurdle are all cancelled.
• The Final Exam is now worth 60%, instead of 50-60%.
• There will be a Final Exam. We are not ready to announce details, but it will be some combination of at-home programming and oral examination (perhaps for a randomised subset of students).
Assignments
• Assignment 1 deadline postponed until Sunday April 12, 11pm Canberra time.
• You can expect marks and feedback about two and a half weeks later• Please note that daylight savings ends on 5 April!
• Assignment 2 and 3 dates will change, but we’re not quite ready to announced the new dates.
This Week
• There will be three 1100 lectures and one 1130 lecture this week.• This upload by me is only a part of today’s lecture; we also have an
exciting guest lecture from one of our tutors, Abigail Thomas, on how to write a technical report for your assignments!
