In DangerAnimals that have

very few of their kind left are called endangered, or threatened.

Animals are endangered for many reasons, but most of the threats are caused by humans; we hunt them and destroy their habitats ( the places where they live).

Your MissionThe mission of this

WebQuest is to become an Animal Advocate.

Essay I nstructions By the end of your research, you should have amassed a great deal of knowledge about the plight of endangered animals. You can understand that preservation is a serious issue that must be given attention.

You will individually construct an essay that will be word processed and handed in to me. I n your essay, you will address two main concerns. The first part of your essay will be to explain two ways in which humans have contributed to the decline of certain animal populations. Be sure to not only name the actions, but to explain why we did them.

The second part of your essay, in which you should focus your energy, is analyzing three ways in which humans can help to erase the damage we have done to our planet’s animals and their habitats. Be sure to include a rationale f or why these actions would be important. You are trying to convince people to change their habits in order to help animals. Be convincing!

Page 11: Animal Advocates WebQuest

Make sure your students don’t spend too much time just looking at the pictures of the animals – you might want to set time limits for research, or say they must have at least 2 fast fact cards done by a certain time.

I would implement this WebQuest after an introductory lesson on wildlife conservation/global issues.

Schedule class time so the students can share their fact cards and their glogs together; they need time to present their findings!
