    SUPPORT TO WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS IN AGRICULTURE 2012-2015

    The Women's Business Association SHE-ERA during the implementation of the project "Support to Women Entrepreneurs in Agricul-

    ture 2012-2015" supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark has operated in four regions of Kosovo: Gjakova, Gjilan,

    Mitrovica and Peja. The main purpose of the project is women economic empowerment through agro-business entrepreneurship. The

    component "Support to Women Entrepreneurs in Agriculture 2012-2015" had as a focus 1440 women entrepreneurs who had to fulfill

    the criteria to become beneficiaries of packages A,B,C and D including all four regions: Gjakova, Gjilan, Mitrovica and Peja. The

    predicted objectives have been surpassed because of the high interest of women farmers in the last four years, where the actual number

    has reached 1963 women entrepreneurs in agriculture beneficiaries from all four regions.

    Presents the general results of women entrepreneurs in agriculture, who have successfully participated in the training in four regions

    (Gjakova, Gjilan, Peja, Mitrovica). 1041 women have benefited from packages A and B, with 860 individual 229 group business plans

    completed, totaling 1087 business plans.

    315 women beneficiaries have benefited from this package through advice, business plan compilation, information on fairs, trainingsoffered by other development partners, conferences, round tables, study visits, application opportunities for governmental and

    non-governmental schemes and grants, support programs and financial institutions such as EBRD & TEB.

    INFORMATIVE AND MONITORING ROUND TABLE IN THE REGION OF MITROVICA, NOVEMBER 2015

    Three informative and monitoring round tables took place in the region of Mitrovica with women

    beneficiaries of the project Support to Women Entrepreneurs in Agriculture 2012-2015 supor-

    ted by the Ministry of Foreig Affairs of Denmark. The purpose of this round table was to identify

    the challenges and needs women encounter and provide them with information on fiscal policies,

    business registration and grant opportunities in agriculture, and also detailed information on

    supporting programs from EBRD and TEB Bank. Women beneficiaries were directly infromed by

    officials from the corresponding institutions who expressed their willingness to be a part of the

    meeting. In these round tables participated women from the municipality of Mitrovica, Vushtria

    and Skenderaj (villages of Runik and Syrigana).

    WED WOMENS ENTREPRENEURSHIP DAY KOSOVO 2015, NOVEMBER 2015

    Womens Entrepreneurship Day Kosovo, 2015 was held for the second time in the Republic ofKosovo but this year in Hotel President, the city of Gjakova. Womens Entrepreneurship Day is

    organized in more than 144 countries, universities and colleges worldwide to promote, celebrate

    and support women entrepreneurs. This global event, with more than 250 guests, was organized

    under the Patronage of the President of the Republic of Kosovo Mrs. Atifete Jahjaga, by the WED

    Kosovo Ambassador & Regional Leader for EU/Non-EU countries, Mrs. Mirlinda Kusari

    Purrini. The welcome speech was given by Ms. Kusari-Purrini where she highlighted the main

    objectives of this conference and the privilege of organizing such an event with a positive global

    impact. The event was marked by the presence and speech of the President of Kosovo, Ms. Atifete

    Jahjaga, the first female Mayor in Kosovo Ms. Mimoza Kusari-Lila, local and international repre-

    sentatives from Embassies and organizations and women entrepreneurs from Kosovo and abroad

    such as Albania, Macedonia, Sweden, Croatia and Switzerland. The WED initiative through its

    respective Ambassadors during the whole year aims to provide support and promote women in

    business because they are a vital part of our countrys economy.

    "WEEKS OF KOSOVAR BUSINESS 2015 FAIR, NOVEMBER 2015

    On November 30, 2015 at the Grand Hotel, in Pristina, the Womens Business Association SHE-

    ERA participated in the fair Week of Kosovar Business 2015 organized by the Alliance for

    Kosovar Businesses under the Patronage of the President of the Assembly of Kosovo. The

    purpose of this meeting which has been organized for 13 consecutive years is to promote local

    businesses to increase local consumption and encourage the government to create a favorable

    environment for a more rapid economic growth. The fair will continue to take place in several

    cities of Kosovo until February, on the occasion of the celebration of Kosovos Independence.

    Atotal of 607 women entrepreneurs who have benefited have managed to increase their managing capacities, have been informed on

    fiscal policies, business registration procedures, local and regional market information for placing the products at the local market,

    information on business development and expansion, business sustainability through governmental grants and potential donors in

    Kosovo and creating a value chain which affects women economic empowerment.

    CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES OF CONDUCTING BUSINESS AT THE LOCAL LEVEL, DECEMBER 2015

    The launching of the project Challenges and opportunities of conducting business at the Local

    Level which took place in the city of Gjakova, was organized by IFK and three other partner

    organizations (SHE-ERA, LGC, and OJQ ELITA-VITI) within the project Strengthening Entre-

    preneurship Capacities of Women in Business supported by the Embassy of Britain in Kosovo.Participants in this conference included the Ambassador of Britain to Kosovo, Mr. OConnell,

    representatives of the four implementing organizations of the project, municipal officials, repre-

    sentatives of the civil society and women entrepreneurs. The purpose of this project is to achieve

    inter-ethnic cooperation of women entrepreneurs and those with informal businesses in the

    regions of Prishtina, Gjakova, Peja, Gjilan and Mitrovica through capacity building, technical

    assistance and advocacy initiative. The main recommendation from this meeting was that govern-

    mental and non-governmental institutions have to have a very close cooperation and promote and

    support women entrepreneurs and their business ideas.

    THE SOCIAL DIALOGUE "BUSINESS CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES ON THE LOCAL LEVEL",

    DECEMBER 2015

    The social dialogue "Business Challenges and Opportunities on the Local Level" was held in Peja

    within the project "Strengthening Entrepreneurship Capacities of Women in Business" supported

    by the British Embassy in Pristina, and implemented by SHE-ERA, IFK, LGC and ELITA.

    Among participants were 50 members of SHE-ERA as well as municipal officials. Participants in

    this round table where closely informed about project activities.

    FAIR WOMEN IN BUSINESS 2015, DECEMBER 2015

    PThe fair "Women in Business 2015" organized by Ministry of Trade and Industry through the

    Agency for Investment and Enterprise Support in Kosovo (KIESA), in cooperation with NGO

    "Women in Business , Women's Business Association SHE-ERA and Open Door.

    Participating in this exhibition were 60 womens who represented their businesses and their

    organizations promoting their products

    THE ROLE AND FUNCTION OF WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS IN AGRICULTURE, DECEMBER 2015

    SHE-ERA held the round table with the "Think Tank" group of women in the region of Peja,

    beneficiaries of the project Support to Women Entrepreneurs in Agriculture 2012-2015

    supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.In this meeting also participated local officials from the municipality of Peja and Istog.

    TWO-DAY TRAINING FOR A MARKETING PLAN WITHIN THE PROJECT BUSINESS

    CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES AT THE LOCAL LEVEL

    A two-day training was held in December with 30 women entrepreneurs, members of SHE-ERA

    and IFK.

    During the training, women entrepreneurs were informed on the importance of the marketing

    plan, the role and function of marketing strategy during business plan development by demon-

    strating the opportunities for increase of local product placement in Kosovar market.

    THE DISTRIBUTION OF MILKING-MACHINES FOR WOMEN FARMERS SUPPORTED BY THE

    HELP ORGANIZATION

    Women's Business Association SHE-ERA within the four year program "Supporting to Women

    Entrepreneurs in Agriculture 2012 -2015", and with financial support from the German organiza-

    tion "Help" in Pristina, handed out milking machinesto 21 women farmers, beneficiaries from the

    regions of: Gjakova, Gjilan, Peja and Mitrovica, thus facilitating their work in the farm.

    THE LINK FOR WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS IN AGRICULTURE

    SHE-ERA has converted its internet web page into an effective tool through which will enable its members to promote their work and to set up

    collaborations with different local and international actors, the business community, development partners and networking among the SHE-ERA

    members and women entrepreneurs from other countries. In the web page has been created the database of SHE-ERA members (http://she-

    era.org/~sheera/?page_id=17)and for Women Entrepreneurs in Agriculture (http://she-era.org/~sheera/?page_id=18)where are included the

    data of women farmers which are updated monthly. Through this link, women in agriculture will greatly benefit toward the project realization

    process, and their entrepreneurial capacities as women entrepreneurs will be emphasized through access with cooperation opportunities with

    local programs and international agencies focused on women economic empowerment.
