Packaging: Globus• New version of globus RPM released

yesterday

• Includes hooks for other components (PBS, CA etc)

• gsi-wuftpd rebuilt with it, to use gridmapdir dynamic accounts if available

• Last release before Globus 2?

Packaging: GSI openssh• Packaged by QMW in RPM format

• Uses accomanying openssl RPM

• Supports ssh2 protocol

• Underlying openssh is actively supported, so better if/when security patches are needed.

• Uses gridmapdir patch, so again dynamic accounts supported.

Packaging: globus-pbs• A small RPM to configure jobmanager-pbs

in the Globus gatekeeper

• Relies on patches in main Globus RPM to specify PBS command locations

• Only necessary to install globus RPM, openpbs RPM and globus-pbs RPM to get jobmanager-pbs working

CA RPM’s• Globus RPM include make-ca-signing-policy

script

• This rebuilds CA configuration from CA-specific fragments

• gridppca RPM - trust UK HEP CA certs

• eudgca RPM - trust EU DataGrid CA certs

• gridppca-request - request UK user certs

Central grid-users• Prototype system working at Manchester on

Babar PC farm

• Fetch grid-users file from CSF@RL

• Each line = email address : “cert DN”

• Script makes grid-mapfile from this (using . for username to get a dynamic account)

• Could easily be used for UK prototype grid

www.gridpp.ac.uk• New website URL (again!)

• All existing links redirected automatically

• Need a better “propaganda” front page• (Working on SSL based authentification, since can

easily convert UK HEP CA certs and import them into IE / Netscape. This will allow “on the page” editing, and be more Windows-friendly.)

Grid “ping” job• Gavin McCance has a prototype of this working

to some sites• Runs simple job and fetches basic results from the

remote sites including a timestamp• Results are fed into WP3 prototype relational

database• Automatic web page of results will be available

soon

Future Support work• Need to formalise software testing: ie need people

to sign up and feed back experiences of what works and what doesn’t

• Need more documentation• CVS repository. Document store. WG Mailing

lists. Better web write access.• Use UK HEP CA host certs• GridPP-wide grid-users file? (with groups)

Testbed1 Integration WG

• Currently deciding process rather than integration itself

• First meeting last Thursday

Major results of first meeting: 1• It was agreed that each WP should deliver the following for PM9

• A Description of all package sub modules as detailed as possible

• A list of dependencies on Globus components

• A list of dependency on external packages

• A Test suite

• One or more contact people. They should be part of the integration team.

Major results of first meeting: 2• People in Integration Team are:

• WPs, Applications, WP6 and WP12 representatives.

• “Integration and Validation teams should work very closely.”

• “The Validation team should be probably have people from the Integration team plus some people from Applications running tests.”

Major results of first meeting: 3

• CVS access by the end of July.

• Start packaging in August.

• By the end of September roll out RPMs to be deployed by the Validation Team.

• Beta "Testbed" with a beta release probably ready by the end of October.
