A published author, experienced business man and known member of former Prime Minster Kevin Rudd’s cabinet, Andrew Charlton has enjoyed the opportunity to observe the progress, or lack thereof, of the Australian economy, as well as to be a part of the decision-making process designed to continue the country’s economic advancement well into the 21st century. As a former member of the public sector, as well as a current member of the private sector, Charlton enjoys the chance to both discuss and attempt to advance growth and job creation in any way that he can.

A Rhodes Scholar and graduate of both Oxford University and the University of Sydney, Andrew Charlton has considerable knowledge of Australian’s economic position within the global economy, as well as the many cycles and fluctuations the country has undergone throughout the course of its past. The 19th century, as he knows, was one of considerable prosperity for Australia, though 20th century economic growth and prosperity tapered off. The 21st century, however, has gotten off to a great start for the Australian economy, and Charlton is hopeful the country’s recent prosperity will continue well into the future.

Andrew Charlton : Sole Author of Book Ozonomics

Andrew Charlton is the economist responsible for the publication of the quarterly essays Man-Made World and Dragon’s Tail. He collaborated with Joseph Stiglitz to produce 2005’s Fair Trade for All, and is the sole author of the book Ozonomics, which Random House Australia published in the year 2007. He enjoyed serving as Australia’s senior representative to the G20 Leaders Forum between 2008 and 2010.
