MASCULINE AND FEMININE…and why they matter so much in French
RULE: ALL NOUNS (THINGS) IN FRENCH ARE EITHER MASCULINE OR FEMININE
Activity #1: Look up five foods en francais, and then write them out, adding the appropriate “a” (une vs. un) in front.
MASCULINE AND FEMININE: AND WHY THEY MATTER
Example:
pizza = feminine
hamburger = masculine
This affects how you say “a”
une = “a” (feminine)un = “a” (masculine)
Example:a pizza = une pizzaa hamburger = un hamburger
RULE: IN FRENCH, VERBS (ACTION WORDS) CHANGE DEPENDING ON WHO YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.
Activity #2: Using two of your food words (one masculine and one feminine) fill out this chart, using the appropriate form of the verb avoir:
