    ABSTRACT OF THE REPORT

    PURPOSE

    The purpose of the paper provides an evaluation of the existing state of practice in Knowledge

    sharing in university libraries. The second paper talks about the knowledge sharing in education,

    research and industry. The third paper deals with The Impact of National Culture on Knowledge

    Sharing Activities in Global Virtual Collaboration.

    LITRATURE REVIEW

    METHODOLIES USED

    The first paper explains about evaluation of the existing state of practice in knowledge sharing in

    university libraries. This research is done through electronic questionnaire. These questionnaire is

    consolidated and the findings were majority of libraries investigated are quite friendly towards

    knowledge sharing, and the majority of librarians value the importance of knowledge sharing and

    found that the knowledge mostly used is intangible knowledge.

    The second paper provides the details about knowledge sharing in education, research and

    industry. They analysed the status of knowledge management getting the right knowledge to the

    right person at the right time.The findings were sharing of knowledge in communities of practiceis hence concluded to be a necessity one.

    The third paper explores the impact of national culture on knowledge sharing activities in global

    virtual collaboration. The Chinese culture is examined. This research is done through an online

    survey approach. The findings were Language was found to be the strongest factor that influences

    knowledge sharing activities.

    ANALYSIS ON THE TOPICS

    The first research paper provides the analysis that most of the librarians use both formal

    organizational procedures as well as informal face-to-face communication methods for capturing

    knowledge about information sources.

    The Second research paper explains that knowledge sharing between business units, communities

    of practice was seemed to be a much more effective vehicle for knowledge sharing than any IT-

    system.

    The third research paper shows the Impact of National Culture on Knowledge Sharing Activities in

    Global Virtual Collaboration.

    CONCLUSION

    Specific KM policies and strategies are currently missing in majority of todays Academic

    libraries. Hence most of the librarians use both formal organizational procedures as well as

    informal face-to-face communication methods for capturing knowledge about information sources.

    Theprofessionals are fully recognized as the carriers of crucial, largely implicit, knowledge.Information and knowledge systems can support, but never replace, the professionals as the

    generators and carriers of the company's knowledge assets. Thus it can be concluded that peoplewith the appropriate knowledge sharing mindset and the appropriate knowledge sharing technology

    to support them will rapidly bring about a knowledge-sharing culture that helps the employees

    better to meet their business objectives.
