Analysis Molly Jubas and Taylor Ota p.4 This project taught us that budgeting your money is extremely important. With two different budgets it is hard to find common luxuries that we both can afford. Also, we discovered that it is important to put your money into purchases that are going to benefit both you and your roommate as well as satisfy your needs before spending on unnecessary wants. The greatest shock to us was how much money food costs per year. We didn’t realize that three meals a day, seven days a week could cost so much. Another unexpected twist was how much money is taken out of our income and put towards taxes. Neither of us realized that money is taken out of your salary and put in four separate categories of taxes. It is important to find deals on healthcare and television/internet bundles because those are places where you are able to save a lot of money. The most important thing we learned from this experience is that if you budget your money and stay on top of your spending/expenses you will use your money wisely and not get into trouble. Furthermore, we learned that we can reuse items we have now so we can save money later and not buy a new one (example: clothing, furniture, accessories). Moreover, we are more conscious of how much energy we use, where we eat/going out to eat, and how much money we spend on going to the movies and hanging out with friends. When you are spending your parent’s money it doesn’t seem like you are spending as much as you actually are, but when it is your own money everything you purchase becomes more valuable and your money becomes more sacred.

This project taught us that budgeting your money is extremely important. With two

different budgets it is hard to find common luxuries that we both can afford. Also, we

discovered that it is important to put your money into purchases that are going to benefit both

you and your roommate as well as satisfy your needs before spending on unnecessary wants.

The greatest shock to us was how much money food costs per year. We didn’t realize that three

meals a day, seven days a week could cost so much. Another unexpected twist was how much

money is taken out of our income and put towards taxes. Neither of us realized that money is

taken out of your salary and put in four separate categories of taxes. It is important to find

deals on healthcare and television/internet bundles because those are places where you are

able to save a lot of money. The most important thing we learned from this experience is that if

you budget your money and stay on top of your spending/expenses you will use your money

wisely and not get into trouble. Furthermore, we learned that we can reuse items we have now

so we can save money later and not buy a new one (example: clothing, furniture, accessories).

Moreover, we are more conscious of how much energy we use, where we eat/going out to eat,

and how much money we spend on going to the movies and hanging out with friends. When

you are spending your parent’s money it doesn’t seem like you are spending as much as you

actually are, but when it is your own money everything you purchase becomes more valuable

and your money becomes more sacred.
