Entity Accreditation
AUB AUB is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Philadelphia USA. AUB degrees are Registered both with the Department of Education of the State of New York and the Lebanese Ministry of Higher Education.
OSB The Suliman S. Olayan School of Business (OSB) has the AACSB international business accreditation (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).
SFEA The Maroun Semaan Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (SFEA) has the ABET accreditation (the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology).
FAFS The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences (FAFS) has accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
HSON Hariri School of Nursing (HSON) has the CCNE accreditation (Commission Credentials on Nursing Education).

AUBMC AUBMC is the first medical center in Lebanon and the fourth in the world to receive institutional accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education – International (ACGME-I). AUBMC is also the first hospital in the Middle East and among only five percent of US hospitals to receive the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet designation for Nursing and Medical care excellence.

Undergraduate Admission:Additional Freshman Requirements
Freshman applicants with a borderline combination of high school grades and SAT 1 scores will be assessed subjectively according to the following :
• Calculations of 50 % of high school final year averages for G10 and G11 and 50% of SAT 1 score (of SAT1 sections as detailed on earlier slides).
• A consideration of personal qualities and academic motivation, as determined in the completed application and personal statement
• Substance of written essays
• Extra-curricular participation and interests
• Academic (Honors and Awards) and non-academic achievements (Work Experience)
• Two letters of recommendation: 1 from Math or Science teacher and 1 from School Counselor
Admission to AUB is based on the following:
• Calculations of - 50 % of high school final year averages for G10 and G11 and - 50% of SAT 1 score based on below SAT1 Sections:
Evidence-based Reading and Writing + Math
• The student final year average is compared to his/her class average
• SAT 1 can be done several times. We will do super-scoring (i.e. taking the maximum of each section from all sessions).

The Student:Creates a Common App account, fills a general section then AUB specific section, invites the school counselor, pays $50 online, then submits the application. Hints: Marks successfully completed sections, Only items with * are required
Uses Common App OnTrack mobile app to get status updates and important alerts.
AUB:Emails the student acknowledgement receipt (with AUB Application ID# and a list of any missing items) when we process the Common App application and/or follow-up notification when online official school documents are received.
The School:Counselor or Teacher receives the student invite(s) and submits the official school documents (ex: Transcripts) online with Common App (Only if not feasible, then it can be delivered in sealed envelope (marked with AUB Application ID#) by postal service or by hand to AUB). Counselor previews (if student enables it) the application.

In general, any acceptance is conditional upon three main requirements:
1. Meeting the AUB English Language Requirements
2. Successful Completion of your Diploma (ex: Baccalaureate, High School)
3. Successful Completion of your Grade 12 Class at School
Important Steps if accepted
Note: Your complete and personal list of conditions is per the admission letter email. It is very important to read it carefully and prepare the required documents.
AUB requires all applicants, regardless of citizenship, to demonstrate English language proficiency or Readiness for University Study in English (RUSE).
Undergraduate applicants can demonstrate RUSE by submitting satisfactory and valid scores from one of several tests (as shown in the above table).

Important Steps if accepted
Test Minimum Score
Acceptance This personal email will be issued around the same time that the list of acceptances is updated our website. The acceptance email will include the program/majors to which the student was accepted to.
Admission Letter This personal email will be issued at least 1-2 month before the semester starts. It will contain the required official documents that the student needs to submit per the specified deadlines in that email
Welcome This general email will be issued at least a month before the start of the semester and will contain information on new student orientation among other important steps that new students need to take.
• All communication with the student will be done by email.
• Emails will be sent to the student and to his/her parent/guardian (if available).
• It is very important to include those 2 email addresses in your application.
• Tuition fees for Academic Year 2018–19 ranges from around $19,000 to $26,000 (Fall + Spring) depending on the Faculty
• The cost of a double occupancy room is around $4,000 (Fall + Spring)
• The yearly food cost and other expenses are estimated at around $6,000

Tuition and Other Fees 2019–20
Important Note:
Please note that starting fall term 2019, the American University of Beirut will begin billing students in US dollars for tuition, housing, and other fees. Settlement of bills will continue to be possible in USD or Lebanese pounds at the market rate of exchange. The change is being made after AUB joined the Common Application for admissions to nearly 900 US and international institutions.

Financial Aid:Scholarships and Work Study
• Merit Scholarship
Each year AUB awards full-tuition merit scholarships to 10 new undergraduates with outstanding academic qualifications.
• Lebanese Baccalaureate Scholarships
Around 15 full-tuition scholarships to the top 5 of the four tracks of the Lebanese Baccalaureate in conjunction with the National Council for Scientific Research.
• Work Study
Students can apply for work study to the office of the Dean of Student Affairs. Students can work a maximum 20 hours per week and they are paid by the hour.
Financial Aid:Liberal Arts Scholarship
• The scholarship covers up to 70% of the tuition fees. Approximately 15K out of 22K.
• 40 incoming sophomore students majoring in the mentioned ten fields will be sponsored throughout their undergraduate education at AUB, provided they remain in good academic standing.

Financial Aid:Hariri School of Nursing Scholarship
HSON currently offers:
60% (Financial Aid + HSON Scholarship) to financial aid applicants who show commitment to nursing and who have a good academic standing.
In addition, students might be eligible to:
• Request 30% bank loan
• Apply for the work study program to cover the remaining 10% of the tuition fees.
• Master card Foundation Scholarship (MCF) which covers around 20 students from Lebanon and sub-Saharan Africa. Undergraduates may apply to sophomore or freshman and selection is based on performance in grades 10 and 11 and financial need. This scholarship also covers tuition for graduate work.
• Tomorrow’s Leaders Scholarship Program (MEPI) It provides around 23 scholarships to promising, under-served secondary school graduates from the MENA region. The scholarship covers all expenses related to undergraduate study (3-4 years) at AUB (non-engineering majors), including: tuition, health insurance, student fees, housing, books, laptop, annual travel (from-to home country), visa/residency expenses, and monthly living allowance. Students requiring English preparatory work may be enrolled in one or two semesters of college preparatory English classes.

To remain covered by any scholarship, a student should always be in good standing.
• Al Ghurair STEM scholarship covers around 100 undergraduate students accepted in science and engineering majors. Accepted applicants to AUB may apply to this scholarship via the foundation website and they are selected based on their need. This scholarship covers graduate students also.
• University Scholarship Program (USP) offered by the USAID which accommodates around 50 public or private school graduates every year (from the different districts across Lebanon). Selection is based on performance in grades 10 and 11, financial need, interviews and tests taken at AUB in addition to the average in the Lebanese Bacc.
• Scholarship opportunity for Canadian Citizens.
• Federal Loans for US Citizens
