The regional view
In terms of regional UK private equity M&A trends, the graph here demonstrates just how dominant
London and the South East continues to be. The Midlands, which
previously had a thriving due diligence scene, has seen much of this
business migrate south to London.
However, venturing further North, Manchester is home to a quietly thriving M&A scene – albeit one that has shouldered a heavy hit from Covid-19. The
table above shows that in terms of deals completed (as of early October), the North East saw the smallest decline in deal volume – behind only the
Republic of Ireland and Wales, though total deal value receded 71.41%.
