The History of Tucan TravelHaving worked and travelled over

South America in the early 1980s,

Pip Tyler and his wife Liliana were

inspired to establish one of the first

overland adventure tour companies

on the continent in 1987. The

couple named their fledgling

company Tucan Travel after the

brightly coloured local bird with the distinctive beak (with its traditional

Spanish spelling) and in 1997 joined forces with Matt Gannan, a fellow tour

operator. The company has been continuously owned and managed by this

partnership ever since, growing from a three-person team to a thriving

international business with offices in London, Sydney and Cuzco.

Today Tucan Travel offers more than 450 itineraries in over 60 countries

worldwide. We run three different travel styles, Budget Expeditions,

Overland Tours and Adventure Tours. Recently, Tucan Travel started

offering tailor-made tours and the Add-ons and Expedition Cruises can

be combined with our group tours to extend our passengers adventure

of a lifetime.

the road and in our offices. The company owns a fleet of comfortable,

modern Mercedes Benz custom-built vehicles which comply with European

emissions standards, are regularly maintained and well equipped to deal

with the demands of the varied terrain on tour. We also pledge to reduce

the company’s environmental impact by managing our energy efficiently and

offsetting business travel. Clients have the ability to offset a portion of the

carbon emissions of their tours with international conservation charity World

Land Trust through the Carbon Offset Scheme.
