At IFDS, we know that ‘Giving Something Back’ is of great importance. It’s vital to us to support local charities and communities as well as being proactive in reducing our ecological footprint on the environment.

We recognise that partaking in charitable initiatives is our way of helping improve the local community in which we live and work in. Our employees are always enthusiastic in terms of giving something back and we take pride in supporting their involvement in helping local communities.

As a large company we are aware of the significance of our direct and indirect impacts on the environment, so ensure that we are actively looking for opportunities to improve our ecological footprint and continuously seeking ways to minimise our negative impacts on the environment.

Continous improvement is in our company make-up, we constantly strive to improve in all aspects of IFDS and our Corporate Social Responsibility strategy is no exception. We are proud of our BREEAM award winning offices, we are delighted with our charity partnerships and we are looking forward to seeing what else we can offer as a company to the local community.

The Environment

In 2007, IFDS achieved ISO14001 which sets a high criteria of environmental standard and maps out a framework for an environmental management system that a company can follow. Working at this level is a great achievement for IFDS, and we put a high value on constantly improving our environmental impact, and in doing so, raising awareness of sustainability.

IFDS looks to achieve positive change in the direct and indirect ways in which it affects the environment using a variety of environmental initiatives, such as: • Recycling • In 2010, allotment plots were introduced to two of our UK offices• Encouraging staff to car share, cycle to work and video conferencing

We continue to reduce our environmental footprint by building environmentally efficient offices to conduct our operations. Our European Headquarters is renowned within the construction industry for its use of mixed mode cooling systems including natural cooling via a lake on the grounds.

In 2003, our European Headquarters won the award for “Corporate Workplace” and received an “Excellent” BREEAM* rating for environmental assessment and impact. The facilities at Dublin’s Sir John Rogerson Quay also received “Excellent” and “Very Good” ratings from BREEAM.

IFDS is continually looking and thinking forward, and has various innovative plans for the safe-keeping of the environment. These include:

• Green Travel- IFDS have been in discussions with their travel provider on ways to reduce our impact on the environment.

• Reduction of carbon emissions- we have been investigating options to reduce our carbon emissions with a target to reduce year on year.

• Renewable Energy- IFDS is actively researching viable options for use at all premises.

esIn 2012, our UK offices raised £68,303 through a variety of charity initiatives throughout the year. We recognise the importance of our employees helping to improve the local community, so therefore encourage them to suggest charities for sponsorship. So far in 2013, IFDS has already sponsored 29 different local charities.*

We also aim to support wider charitable initiatives. These include:

• Our UK offices annually donate their call centre for national telephone appeals, such as BBC Children in Need; with staff, clients, family and friends in 2012 taking in £143, 322 worth of donations.

• Many of our Luxembourg employees volunteer to help UNICEF alongside State Street, our parent company, with their annual mail out.

• Our employees in Ireland volunteer alongside State Street for charities such as Oxfam.

In 2013, our UK offices set up a partnership with two local charities, ‘The J’s Hospice’ and ‘Canine Partners.’ This partnership focuses on raising awareness and educating people on the issues concerning the charity. We believe a partnership approach like this also promotes employee engagement, so is therefore beneficial to both the company and the community surrounding it.

We welcome that communities are increasingly looking to the private sector to support them and help them to make changes and welcome this opportunity.

We are committed to getting involved in our community at a local level and our UK offices make sure to volunteer within their local business community. We are sponsors of the ‘Business-to-Business’ award (at the Essex Worldwide Countryside Business awards).
