PLLC Mr. Marks is a lifelong resident of Orange County. He graduated from the Southwestern School of Law in 1981 with a Juris Doctorate degree. Mr. Marks was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1982 and opened his own law firm in 1984. The Law Office of Paul L. Marks provide general legal services with an emphasis in real estate law; estate and will preparation and probate in local courts; foreclosure defense; and guardianship. Mr. Marks is a member of the Orange County and the New York State Bar Associations. He is admitted to practice before the US Supreme Court, as well as US District Courts for the Southern, Northern and Western Districts of New York.

It seems like everything, including your average law practice, is growing larger and more impersonal.

Real Estate Mr. Marks has been extremely active in real estate closings since the 1980’s for properties located from Albany to Long Island, including land sales, residential properties (condos, existing home and new construction) and commercial properties. Mr. Marks focuses on residential closings and short sales and works well with local realtors and local lenders to help get you the results you need.

Estates and Wills Mr. Marks has appeared in various capacities in Surrogate’s Court where probates are heard: as attorney for the estate and as guardian of minor children. He also can assist in drafting a will.

Foreclosure Defense If you have been served with a foreclosure summons and complaint on your residence, Mr. Marks can strategize a legal defense to buy you time to stay in your home. The foreclosure defense can allow you a great deal of flexibility and time to pursue a range of further options. These options may include:

• a loan modification on your existing mortgage;

• a forbearance agreement, which adds missed mortgage payments onto the end of your loan;

• a short sale; • a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy

filing (I can refer you to a reputable attorney for this);

• technical defenses based on the discovery of defects in the filing of your loan.

Guardianship Mr. Marks currently serves on two panels in the 9th Judicial District of New York (Orange, Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester): he serves on the Court Evaluator (CE) Panel in addition to the Alleged Incapacitated Person (AIP) Panel in guardianship proceedings.
