An appeal from peoples' movements to all Members of Parliament, to ensure that Parliament is allowed to function Dear Members of Parliament, We are extremely concerned about the continuous disruption of Parliament, resulting in an unprecedented loss of time and the consequent danger of a large number of very critical bills lapsing. The fact that Parliament has not been able to transact much business has had an adverse impact on a number of issues which in turn affects all citizens of India, especially the poor and the marginalised. While we appreciate that disrupting parliamentary proceedings is a legitimate form of dissent, yet the prevailing level of disruption inevitably promotes, among the people, disenchantment and frustration with democratic processes and institutions. The consequent erosion of respect for democratic institutions concerns us immensely as it does not bode well for the future of India. We, therefore, appeal to our representatives in the Parliament to ensure that there is no further disruption of the proceedings of Parliament and that the important pending bills are immediately and conclusively debated. We especially appeal to our elected representatives from Andhra Pradesh that while we understand and appreciate the importance of their issues, these issues could be raised in a manner that does not deprive millions of Indian’s the justice and relief that Parliament alone can deliver to them. Dear Members of Parliament,

We are extremely concerned about the continuous disruption of Parliament, resulting in an unprecedented loss of time and the consequent danger of a large number of very critical bills lapsing.
