Welcome to Amthor Experience, Amthor International’s new magazine that will be published once a quarter. Each issue of Amthor Experience will be chocked full of industry information, news about Amthor innovations, introductions to industry partners, photos and even an Amthor cartoon strip called the “Sewer Suckers” that will surely give you a hoot.

At Amthor, our mission is to thoroughly understand and meet your — our valued customers’ and future customers’ — needs by employing our decades of experience in design, engineering, customization and service to build state-of-the-art tanks for the refined fuel, vacuum, propane, portable restroom, water and specialty tank truck industries that increase efficiency, productivity and, in the end, make your teams’ work easier.

DOES YOUR COMPANY OWN A FULL-OPENING REAR DOOR, DUMPING VACUUM TANK? If so, does your tank have the “old” style wing nuts to tighten down when closed? If the answer is yes, we are pleased to tell you about a major new innovation that will revolutionize the way the rear door on vacuum tanks operates.

Amthor International has developed The Claw (patent pending). The Claw is a series of hydraulic arms that are used to open and close the rear door, eliminating the use of wing nuts along the top and sides (there are two at the bottom at ground level, which are required by law). No longer does your driver have to climb 10’-13’ in the air to tighten down the rear door; all he has to do is pull a lever and the arms extend and reach out to release or pull the door in which will give you a much tighter seal than any human can provide manually. Our Claw locks past center and even if you lost pressure or your cylinder goes bad it won’t loosen the latch at all, once it locks you have no worries.

Amthor’s Claw design can be used on any code or non-code vacuum tank and is available mid-first quarter of 2014. The increase in cost over the standard wing nut design is minimal. The Claw increases driver safety and saves money on unnecessary tank repairs due to incorrect operation.

Back in early 2013, Amthor International was approached by GRB Entertainment in Los Angeles, California to shoot a PILOT episode for a new show called “Showdown of the Unbeatables” that will be airing on the National Geographic Channel in 2014. The reality show pits inventors and entrepreneurs against each other in a battle royale in which their inventions face off in a death match.

The show originated in Japan and had such huge success they are bringing it to the United States featuring US companies. The results of the show and everything that occurred are secret until the airdate sometime in early to mid-2014. “It was a unique experience for Brian and me to be part of a

full fledged TV shoot” explains “Butch” Amthor. “We filmed over 40 hours of footage in Virginia and on location in Hollywood. It was pretty neat as we got to film in the same spot as “The Dark Knight Rises.” Look for “Showdown of the Unbeatables” on National Geographic channel soon and let us know what you think!

THE CARDINAL REFINED FUEL TANK IS THE FLAGSHIP MODEL for the Amthor International refined fuel tank line. Available in five rear canopy styles — the Champion, Clipper, Classic, Classic II and the Combo — the Cardinal tank meets the needs of fuel customers no matter where they are located or the job they need to get done. “Over the years this product has evolved to where it is today,” explains Brian Amthor. “Each industry serviced by the Cardinal has its own special requirements that we work to meet; from aviation refueling to home heating oil to oilfield application -- each industry’s needs are different from the other.” This is why Amthor will never be classified as a cookie-cutter manufacturer because we build and adapt our product to what the customer needs; we reinvent each and every day.

In addition to the different styles, the Cardinal offers numerous design options, such as tank material including aluminum, steel and stainless steel. We firmly believe as people change, markets change and as a supplier we need to change as well. If products didn’t change Ford would still be selling the Model T and the same goes for Amthor tank models!

We build tanks to exceed the operating conditions for which they are intended. For example, Amthor builds special tank features for all units that operate in the oilfield including thicker floors and extra internal supports. We even build tanks for non-air ride suspensions such as the Mack Camelback, which no other manufacturers offer. “My father’s adage is that the only “NO” in his vocabulary is “No Problem” which is something we proudly adhere to each and every day,” explains Brian Amthor.

Additionally, Amthor International offers numerous extra options on their tanks from cabinets to air railings to special overflow sensors, but this list is not exhaustive; if an option is not specified and a customer needs it, if it is doable Amthor will do it. “As the most diverse and largest truck mounted tank manufacturer in North America we didn’t get here by just pure luck, we got here by offering a great product and building it to exceed the customers expectations,” concludes Brian Amthor. Customers just need to let us know what they need. We are here to make it happen.

Missouri Valley Petroleum in Mandan, ND has purchased a dozen propane and fuel tanks mounted on International and Freightliner chassis from Amthor over the past year. These trucks need to be rugged, built for rough terrain and the field jobs they need to handle. And Amthor sure knows how to build trucks tough for the road ahead. “We like how Amthor beefs up a truck, makes sure it needs minimal down time for maintenance and repair,” explains Bud Kear, Field Support Manager with Missouri Valley Petroluem. “ With Amthor, we have no worries in the field.”

Engine & Accessory, founded in 1950, builds and assembles tank trucks for the refined fuel,

heating oil, chemical transport, vacuum, and fire industries throughout the United States.

Like Amthor, they are a multi-generational family-owned business. Owner, Robert Smith

has worked with Butch Amthor for over 20 years and now, sons Craig and Brian

continue the tradition and working relationship. In fact, Brian Amthor says,

“Bob and Craig are more like family to the Amthors than business associates.”
