MSI-REaCH (Reconstrucng Earth’s Climate History) School of Ice • NSF-funded for 3 years (2015-2018) • Collaboraon with Consorum for Ocean Leadership and 7 other instuons/organizaons • Provides substanve professional development for MSI facutly and serves to enhance research-type experiences for students at parcipang instuons • Focuses on paleoclimate data gained through ocean sediment cores • Partners faculty with researchers and science instrucon experts who act as mentors as faculty implement what they learn • Lockheed Marn-funded • Partnered with the U.S. Ice Drilling Program Office (IDPO) at Dartmouth College • Focuses on paleoclimate study through examinaon of the ice core record • Includes tours of ice processing facilies, university labs, and meengs with logiscs experts responsible for U.S. naonal research in polar regions • Faculty interact with research sciensts and educaon specialists that support faculty in implemenng ice core data/informaon into classroom • Apply online: hps://goo.gl/forms/UhomfScVIpdMVzLQ2 • Applicaon deadline is 12 February The AMS Climate Studies Diversity Project builds on highly successful, NSF-supported diversity projects for the AMS Weather and Ocean Studies courses (2001-2008).
