SAFETY INFORMATION

TO THE OPERATOR It is the responsibility of all operators to read and understand this entire manual before installing, operating or

servicing the PREMIER Ammbusher Heavy Duty Brush Cutter. Pay particular attention to cautions, warnings and

safe operating procedures. Be a safe and qualified operator. Operate your equipment with care and good judgment

and see to it that it is properly maintained.

SAFETY DECALS WORN, DAMAGED OR ILLEGIBLE SAFETY DECALS MUST BE REPLACED! New safety decals can be ordered

from PREMIER. Safety decals for PREMIER Brush Cutters are ordered and packaged in sets only.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

DISCHARGE DANGER LABEL

The PREMIER Brush Cutters discharge materials out the front. When cutting

with a PREMIER Brush Cutter, never discharge material toward bystanders

nor allow anyone near the machine while in operation. When cutting near bystanders is unavoidable, do not operate the Brush Cutter

without Front Deflector Chains in place, and do not cut in the direction of bystanders.

Bystanders must be at least 75 ft (23 m) away when operating. Clear the work area of objects (fencing, rocks, bottles, wire, etc.) which might be

picked up and thrown.

Always use a shatterproof cab door for your loader or the 3/8” thick safety door when

cutting brush. This is not only to protect you from thrown objects, but primarily to

prevent overhanging or protruding objects such as rebar, tree limbs, or other objects

from entering the cab and causing operator injury. Disengage power to the PREMIER Brush Cutter and shut the loader engine OFF

before leaving the operator’s cab.

Shut the PREMIER Brush Cutter OFF and the loader engine OFF before performing

any inspection or maintenance to the Brush Cutter.

Never place hands or feet under the Brush Cutter deck or near any moving parts when

unit is running. Always keep clear of front discharge area when operating Brush Cutter.

HYDRAULIC LEAK WARNING LABEL

The PREMIER Ammbusher Heavy Duty Brush Cutter has been designed to

reduce the likelihood of hydraulic system leakage. Each Brush Cutter’s

hydraulic system is tested and inspected prior to shipping. However, over

time, any hydraulic system may develop fluid leaks, and very small leaks

may produce high-pressure discharge flows capable of causing injury should

skin come in contact with such discharge.

SAFETY INFORMATION (continued)

Do not raise the back of the PREMIER Brush Cutter (nearest operator) over 2 feet off the ground. Never

expose yourself or a bystander to the rotating blades.

When driving the loader to and from the worksite, carry the PREMIER Brush Cutter as low as possible to the

ground to avoid the possibility of tipping forward.

Do not carry passengers on the PREMIER Brush Cutter.

Never leave the PREMIER Brush Cutter unattended in a raised position.

The loader and PREMIER Brush Cutter should be stopped and inspected for damage after striking a foreign

object, and the damage should be repaired before restarting and continuing cutting.

Cut only in daylight or good artificial light.

Keep all nuts, bolts and screws tight, and be sure the equipment is in a safe working condition.

Check the blade mounting bolts for proper tightness at frequent intervals.

When working under the PREMIER Brush Cutter, always securely block it up. If attached to your loader,

visually inspect your lock-on pins to make sure the Brush Cutter is locked onto your loader. Remember, the

PREMIER Ammbusher Heavy Duty Brush Cutter weighs more than 2000 lbs.

Reduce speed on slopes and make turns gradually to prevent tipping or loss of control. Exercise caution

when changing direction on slopes.

Stay alert for drop-offs or holes in the terrain.

Use caution when walking on the Brush Cutter deck. The deck can be slick when wet.

Never drive your skid loader with your PREMIER Brush Cutter raised more than 2 feet. Children are small. Be

aware of their presence and ALWAYS make sure you can see what you are cutting.

HOOK-UP PROCEDURES

NOTE: BECAUSE OF THE DIFFERENCES IN ATTACHMENT MOUNTING METHODS AMONG THE VARIOUS

BRANDS OF SKID STEER LOADERS, IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONSULT YOUR SKID STEER OWNERS

MANUAL FOR THE PROPER ATTACHMENT MOUNTING METHOD.

1. Pull up and connect the Brush Cutter to your loader.

2. Secure locking levers. NOTE: Do not attempt to operate attachments with damaged or disengaged lock pins.

3. Connect (2) hydraulic hoses.

TO REMOVE BRUSH CUTTER ATTACHMENT

NOTE: BECAUSE OF THE DIFFERENCES IN ATTACHMENT MOUNTING AND REMOVAL METHODS

AMONG THE VARIOUS BRANDS OF SKID STEERS, IT IS IMPORTANT TO CONSULT YOUR SKID STEER

OWNERS MANUAL FOR THE PROPER ATTACHMENT REMOVAL METHOD.

1. Lower the PREMIER Brush Cutter to ground level.

2. Stop the engine, release hydraulic pressure in hoses and disconnect auxiliary hoses.

3. Release the locking levers and disengage the loader mounting plate.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

The PREMIER Ammbusher Heavy Duty Brush Cutter is capable of cutting trees and vegetation of varying height up

to 7” in diameter. Designed to make your loader more versatile, the PREMIER Ammbusher Heavy Duty Brush

Cutter is intended to perform these functions without the front of the mower deck being raised to a vertical height

greater than 3 feet.

As an additional safety feature, the PREMIER Ammbusher Heavy Duty Brush Cutter is designed with a front-edge

chain curtain. This is provided to reduce the likelihood of discharged objects. Always use a safety door on the

front of your loader to provide the operator an additional level of protection from both overhanging objects (such

as tree limbs) and the potential of discharged objects.

1. Start the Brush Cutter with the loader running slightly above idle. Engage the loader hydraulics and gradually

throttle up to the desired RPM. Maintaining a constant RPM, along with a slower travel speed, will increase your

cutting efficiency.

2. Raise the back of the Brush Cutter (nearest the operator) 4 or 5 inches off the ground. This is necessary for

material to clear from under the cutting deck. Rotate the Brush Cutter front up or down so that the skid rails

are 1 - 2 inches off the ground. The Brush Cutter deck will be sloping front-down (away) from the operator.

This is the optimum method for cutting close to the ground.

Never drive your loader with the Brush Cutter raised more than 2 feet or tilted to the point that your

view is obstructed. Always make sure you can see what you are cutting.

Never operate the Brush Cutter in populated areas, or where thrown objects could injure persons or damage

property. Safety chains MUST be installed.

Never raise the back of the Brush Cutter more than 2 feet off the ground. Never expose yourself or anyone else

to the rotating blades. If you can see the rotating blades when operating the unit, the back of the Brush Cutter

is raised too high. 3. When cutting large brush, operate the PREMIER Ammbusher Heavy Duty Brush Cutter in the following

manner: Slowly drive into the tree and allow the front spring door to open up as you bend the tree with the push

bar. This allows the blades to cut the tree off. The tree can now be mulched by rotating the front up, driving

forward several feet, rolling the front down onto the tree and back-dragging. Keep in mind that, although you

can cut larger trees, the operational life of the attachment may be shortened.

REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE

PART “A” BLADE CARRIER REMOVAL

This operation should be performed by an authorized dealer or a qualified technician. The blade carrier

weighs approximately 600 pounds. Should it unexpectedly shift during removal, it could result in

personal injury. An overhead hoist with the appropriate lifting capacity is recommended for this

operation.

1. Set the Brush Cutter flat on the ground. Turn the skid loader engine off to disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the loader. Then, safely disconnect the Brush Cutter from the loader.

2. Attach the hoist to the two lifting points on the push bar.

3. Lift the front of the Brush Cutter, allowing it to lay back upside down, while blocking and bracing the rear

of the Brush Cutter to protect the motor cover and hydraulics.

4. Block the Brush Cutter to ensure that it is stable.

5. Attach the hoist to the blade carrier and apply very light tension. This is a safety precaution to be taken before removing the cap screws.

6. Remove the (8) cap screws and (8) washers that secure the blade carrier to the drive flange, and lift the

blade carrier with the hoist.

PART “B”

BLADE CARRIER INSTALLATION

1. With the Brush Cutter laying upside down and blocked up for stability, attach a hoist to the blade

carrier and lift it into place. Align the holes on the blade carrier to the holes on the drive flange.

2. Reinstall the (8) cap screws and (8) washers, securing the blade carrier to the drive flange. A permanent threadlocker should be applied to the cap screws before installation.

3. Attach the hoist to the lifting points on the push bar.

4. Lift with the hoist to set the Brush Cutter back on the ground in its normal position.

PART “C”

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURE FOR REPLACING OR FLIPPING BLADES

1. Set the Brush Cutter flat on the ground. Turn the skid loader engine off to disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the loader. Then, safely disconnect the Brush Cutter from the loader.

2. Remove the blade service door to expose the access hole in the deck.

3. Lift the front door weldment and secure it with a strap. Then, rotate the blade carrier until the blade-attaching nuts are aligned in the access hole.

4. From the top of the deck, insert a socket through the access hole onto one of the three blade nuts and remove it. Repeat on the other two nuts.

5. Remove the blade and blade hockey puck.

6. Replace, flip or sharpen the blade.

7. Reinstall the blade and blade hockey puck, aligning with the thru holes on the blade carrier.

8. Install the bolts from the bottom-up and tighten the nuts through the access hole on the top of the deck.

9. Repeat the above process on all 3 remaining blades.

NOTE: Only use genuine PREMIER Ammbusher replacement parts. It is recommended to flip all blades at the same time. Blades should be replaced in pairs on opposite sides of the blade carrier to maintain balance. Remember that one pair should always be face-up, with the other face-down.

PART “D” INSTALLING OR REPLACING CARBIDE STUMP GRINDING TEETH 1. Set the Brush Cutter flat on the ground. Turn the skid loader engine off to disconnect the hydraulic hoses from

the loader. Then, safely disconnect the Brush Cutter from the loader.

2. Remove the carbide tooth service door to expose the access hole in the deck.

3. Lift the front door weldment and secure it with a strap. Then, rotate the blade carrier until the tooth

holders are aligned in the access hole of the Brush Cutter deck.

4. From the top of the deck, insert a socket through the access hole onto one of the four carbide tooth nuts and remove. Repeat on the other three nuts and remove the carbide teeth from the blade carrier.

5. From the bottom of the blade carrier, insert the threaded end of a carbide tooth through the holder and secure

it with a lock nut. Note: Make sure that the carbide edge is facing the direction of rotation.

6. Rotate the blade carrier to the next row of carbide teeth and repeat the above steps. There are a total of (4)

rows of teeth. It is recommended that all teeth in all positions be installed in order to help keep the carrier

balanced.
