10. Be careful when using thisproduct and protect yourselfproperly.

12. Wear gloves and keep handswarm.

13. Prolonged use of the productexposes the user to vibrations thatcan cause a range of conditionscollectively known as hand-armvibration syndrome (HAVS) e.g.fingers going white; as well asspecific diseases such as carpaltunnel syndrome.

14. To reduce the risk of HAVS,always wear protective gloves andkeep your hands warm.

15. The symptoms of HAVSinclude any combination of thefollowing:

• Tingling and numbness in thefingers,

• Not being able to feel thingsproperly,

• Loss of strength in the hands,

• Fingers going white (blanching)and becoming red and painful onrecovery (particularly in the coldand wet, and probably only in thetips at first).

Seek medical advice immediately ifsuch symptoms are experienced.

PREPARATION

1. This product can cause seriousinjuries. Read the instructionscarefully for proper handling,preparation, maintenance, starting,and stopping of the product.Become familiar with all controlsand the proper use of the product.

2. Beware of power lines.

3. Avoid operating while people,especially children, are nearby.

4. Dress properly. Do not wearloose clothing or jewelry, whichcan get caught in moving parts.Use of sturdy gloves, non-skidfootwear, and safety glasses isrecommended.

5. Use extra care when handlingfuels. They are flammable and thevapors are explosive. Observe thefollowing care:

• Use only an approved container.

• Never remove fuel cap or addfuel with the power source running.Allow engine and exhaustcomponents to cool down beforerefueling.

• Do not smoke. Never refuelindoors.

• Never store the product or fuelcontainer inside where there is anopen flame, such as near a waterheater.

• If fuel is spilled, do not attempt tostart, but move the product awayfrom the spillage before starting.

• Always replace and securelytighten the fuel cap after refueling.

• If the fuel tank is drained, thisshould be done outdoors.

6. Store the product in a clean, dryplace protected from direct sunlightonly after the fuel tank has beenemptied and the product iscleaned. The product may only bestored inside under theseconditions.

7. If the cutting mechanism strikesany foreign object or the productstarts making unusual noises orvibrations, shut off the powersource and allow the product tostop. Disconnect the spark plugwire from the spark plug and takethe following steps:

• Inspect for damage,

• Check for, and tighten, any looseparts,

• Have any damaged partsreplaced or repaired with partshaving equivalent specifications.

OPERATION

1. This product should not be usedfor any other purpose thandescribed.

2. While operating, always wearnon-skid footwear, and long pants.Do not operate this product whenbarefoot or wearing sandals. Wearprotective glasses or goggles.

3. Thoroughly inspect the areawhere the product is to be usedand remove all objects which canbe thrown by the product.

4. Before using this product and afterany impact, check for signs of wear ordamage and repair as necessary.

5. Never operate this product withdamaged guards or without theguards in place.

6. Keep hands and feet away from thecutting implement at all times,especially when switching on themotor.

7. Never allow children or peopleunfamiliar with the instructions to usethis product.

8. Stop using this product whilepeople, especially children, or petsare nearby.

9. Only use the product in daylight orin good artificial light.

10. Stop the engine before:

• Cleaning or when clearing ablockage,

• Checking, carrying out maintenance,or working on the product,

• Adjusting the working position of thecutting device,

• Switching blades,

• Leaving the product unattended

11. Ensure that the product is placedin a proper working position beforestarting the engine.

12. While operating this product,ensure that the position is safe andsecure.

13. Do not operate this product with adamaged or excessively worn cuttingdevice.

14. To reduce fire hazards, keep theengine and silencer free of debris,leaves, and excessive lubricants.

15. Always ensure that all handlesand guards are fitted when using thisproduct. Never attempt to use anincomplete product or one fitted withan unauthorized modification.

16. Always use two hands to operatea product fitted with two handles.

17. Always be aware of yoursurroundings and stay alert forpossible hazards of which you maynot be aware due to the noise of theproduct.

18. Be careful when handling anycutting device/sharp edge fitted fortrimming the filament line length.Ensure a new filament trimming lineis installed correctly before turningthe product on.

19. Always ensure that air vents arekept clear of debris.

MAINTENANCE & STORAGE

1. When the product is stopped forservicing, inspection, or storage, shutoff power source, disconnect thespark plug wire from the spark plugand make sure all moving parts havecome to a stop. Allow the product tocool before making any inspections,adjustments, etc.

2. Store the product where the fuelvapors will not reach any openflames or sparks. Always allow theproduct to cool down before storing.

3. When not in use, store the productout of the reach of children.

4. Use only manufacturer’srecommended replacement partsand accessories.

5. When transporting or storing thisproduct, always fit the cuttertransport guard.

FUEL HANDLING

1. Follow the maintenance and repairinstructions on this product. Nevercarry out any modifications of theproduct. Never change the presetrotary speed or the engine andproduct settings. Information aboutmaintenance and repair is providedin this user manual.

2. Never carelessly touch the product,doing so may cause serious injury.

While the product is in operationor shortly thereafter, its parts,such as the exhaust pipe, engine,and other surfaces are extremelyhot! Pay attention to the markingson the product.

3. Make sure that the air intake ofthe combustion engine is clear.Keep the air intake free of dust,dirt particles, gases, and fumes.

4. Make sure that air circulation isadequate. The product must beeasily accessible from all sides.

5. Always switch the product offand let it cool down, beforerefueling it. Gas is highlyflammable. Never smoke whenyou are refueling the product. Donot refuel the product, if there isan open fire in the vicinity.

6. Always use suitable aids suchas funnels and filler necks. Donot spill any fuel on the productor its exhaust system. There is arisk of ignition. However, if fuelshould be spilled, then you mustremove it carefully from all partsof the product. Any residue whichmay be present must becompletely removed, before theproduct is operated.

7. Exhaust gases and fuel fumesare noxious. Fuel fumes canignite. Never use the product inenvironments where there is arisk of explosion.

8. Never breathe in any fuelfumes when you are refueling theproduct. Never fill the tank inenclosed spaces, such asbasements or sheds. There is arisk of poisoning and explosion.

9. Avoid skin contact with the fuel.

10. Do not eat or drink whilerefueling the product. If you haveswallowed gas or oil, or if the gasor oil has got into your eyes, thenseek medical advice immediately.

11. Close the tank lid immediatelyafter filling the tank. Make sure that itis properly closed.

12. Never use the product without anair filter.

EMERGENCY

Familiarize yourself with the useof this product by means of thisinstruction manual. Memorize thesafety directions and follow themto the letter. This will help toprevent risks and hazards.

1. Always be alert when using thisproduct, so that you can recognizeand handle risks early. Fastintervention can prevent seriousinjury and damage to property.

2. Stop the engine and unplug thespark plug connector if there aremalfunctions. Have the gardenpower tool checked by a qualifiedprofessional and repaired, ifnecessary, before you operate itagain.

3. In case of fire, stop the engineand unplug the spark plugconnector. Take fire-extinguishingmeasures immediately if the gardenpower tool switch is no longeraccessible.WARNING: Never use water toextinguish a product on fire.Burning fuel must be extinguishedwith special extinguishing agents.It is recommended that you keep asuitable fire extinguisher withinreach in your work area.RESIDUAL RISKSEven if you are operating thisproduct in accordance with all thesafety requirements, potentialrisks of injury, and damageremain. Remove all packing and shippingmaterials.2. Disconnect the spark plugconnector (2) from the spark plug.WARNING: The product must befully assembled before operation.Do not use a product that is onlypartly assembled or assembledwith damaged parts.AUXILIARY HANDLE1. Remove the pre-assembled boltson the bracket (13) of the auxiliaryhandle (12).Note: Pay attention to the bolts.Keep them in a secure location.2. Locate the handle (12) to theupper side of the upper shaft (23)and secure in place with the bolts(Fig. 1).3. Insert the handle grip (25) to theend of the auxiliary handle (12) (Fig.2).4. Strain and fix the control cable(11) with the cable ties (24) (Fig. 3).

SHAFT1. Remove the protection cap from thelower shaft (22) (Fig.4).2. Align the lower shaft (22) with theclamp (15) so that the slot isorientated to the slot in the clamp(Fig. 5).3. Press the locking lever (17) andinsert the lower shaft (22) into theupper shaft (23). The locking levermust engage in the slot of the lowershaft (Fig. 6).4. Secure the connection by tighteningthe locking knob (16) (Fig. 6).SAFETY GUARDS1. Loosen the nuts from the fourmounting sets (18) for safety guardand keep them handy (Fig. 7).Note: Take care of small parts thatare removed during assembly orwhen making adjustments. Keepthem secure to avoid loss.2. Place the safety guard (19)between the support and plate.3. Fix it with the mounting sets.4. Pay attention to the alignment ofthe guard (Fig. 7).CUTTING OPTIONSYou will be required to assemble therelevant cutting head to suit theintended use of the product.BRUSH CUTTER BLADE1. Ensure that the safety guard (19) isattached.2. Locate the backing flange (32) onthe spindle (31).3. Rotate the backing flange until itshole is aligned with the notch in thegear head.4. Insert the Hex Key (46) into thehole to lock the spindle.5. Loosen the nut (36) and remove thewasher (35) and locking flange (34).6. Fit the cutter blade (33) onto thespindle (31) ensuring that thedirectional arrows on the guard and

the cutter blade match. Ensure thatthe cutter blade sits flush on theextruded ring on the backingflange.7. Place the locking flange (34) andthe washer onto the cutter blade(33).8. Secure the cutter blade (33) withthe nut (36) (Fig. 8).9. Remove the hex key (46).TRIMMER HEAD1. Make sure that the safety guard(19) has been attached properly.2. Locate the backing flange (32) onthe spindle (31).3. Rotate the backing flange until itshole is aligned with the notch in thegear head.4. Insert the hex key (46) into thehole to lock the spindle.5. Screw the trimmer head (37) onthe spindle (31) (Fig. 9).6. Remove the hex key (46).WARNING: Do not attach thelocking flange (34) when usingthe trimmer head.FUEL1. This product is equipped with a 2-stroke engine (1).2. Mix a regular-grade unleaded gasand a quality 2-cycle motor oil forair cooled 2-stroke engines.3. Do not use BIA or TWC (2-strokewater-cooling type) mixed oil.4. The recommended mixing ratiofor fuel:oil is 40:1 (Fig.10)Note: Never mix fuel and oil directlyin the tank of the product.WARNING: This product is notsupplied with fuel in the engine.Before operating this product itis essential to fill with fuel.WARNING: Ensure that there areno open flames around theproduct. Do not smoke whilefilling with fuel and oil.

• Ensure that you have all theaccessories and tools needed forassembly and operation.

• Make suer that you wear suitablepersonal protective equipment.

• Ensure that no unauthorized people,especially children, and pets arenearby or could enter the workingarea.

• Make sure no explosive orflammable materials are present.

• Ensure that the product is free fromdamage and that it is not worn.

• Ensure that the tank is filled with thecorrect fuel/oil mixture.

• Make sure that safety devices andaccessories are correctly fixed.

• Double check that all assemblytools have been removed from theproduct before use.

• Undertake periodic structuralchecks of this product, do not use ifyou have any doubts about itssuitability for its intended purpose.

INTENDED USEThis brush cutter/string trimmer isdesignated with a maximum poweroutput of maximum 42.6cc.With the cutter blade attached, thisproduct is intended to cut small typesof weeds, lawn grass, or similar softvegetation.This product should not be used tocut unusually thick grass orvegetation, wet grass, or to shredleaves, etc.This product is intended for privatedomestic use only. Not forcommercial trade or use. It must notbe used for any purposes other thanthose described.

1. Unscrew and remove the fuel tankcap (7) (Fig. 11).

2. Only use correctly mixed fuel/oil.Do not overfill. Leave a minimum5mm of space between the top of thefuel and the inside edge of the tank(6) to allow for expansion (Fig. 12).

3. Use a fuel funnel fitted with a filterto avoid debris entering the tank.

4. Wipe up spilled fuel with a softcloth and refit the fuel tank cap (7).

5. Always dispose of fuel, used oil,and soiled objects according to localregulations.

PRIMERUse the primer (8) when starting theproduct with a cold engine (Fig. 13).RECOIL STARTER1. The recoil starter handle (5) ispositioned at the back side of theengine unit.2. Pull on the recoil starter handle (5)to start the engine (Fig. 14).WARNING: Do not suddenly releasethe recoil starter handle. Alwaysallow it to return under controlledtension. Do not pull out the recoilstarter BEYOND THE RED COLORBAND at the end of the recoilstarter (Fig. 14).HAND GRIP CONTROLSThere are four controls at the handgrip with the following functions (Fig.15).1. Adjust the engine speed with thethrottle control (27).2. Use the throttle safety button (28)for temporarily setting the throttle in apartially open position, to aid starting.3. The ignition switch (29) electricallystarts or stops the engine.4. The throttle interlock (30) preventsunintentional activation of the throttletrigger until manually released.HARNESS1. The harness (14) helps the operatorto carry the product.2. To remove the harness from theloop (26), open the securing clip.3. Place the harness so that it runsover the left shoulder, crossing thechest and back. The securing clipmust be located at the right hip (Fig.16).4. Adjust the length of the harness(14) so that the hook is approximately6 in. below your waist; locate theproduct to the harness by using thesecuring clip ensuring that the angleof the cutting head is parallel to thesurface being cut.

WARNING: Always attach theproduct to the harness. Do notcarry it only with your hands.5. In case of emergency, release theproduct from the harness by openingthe securing clip.AUXILIARY HANDLEAdjust the position and angle of theauxiliary handle (12) on the uppershaft (23).1. Loosen the bolts on the bracket(13) and adjust the position andangle (Fig. 17).2. Afterward, tighten the bolts.CUTTING HEADSBladeThe cutter blade (33) is used to cutheavier weeds, brush, and similarvegetation with a thickness of up to20mm.Trimmer Head1. The trimmer head (37) is used tocut smaller types of weed, lawngrass, or similar soft vegetation.2. The trimmer head is equipped witha bumper (38) helping to cut thetrimming line (39) while operating.Simply tap the bumper on a firmsurface and the spool will releasefresh trimming line (Fig. 18).3. A knife (20) is integrated with thesafety guard (19) and this will cut theline to the necessary length.WARNING: The cut line will bethrown out. Danger of injuryespecially for bystanders.SAFETY GUARD1. The safety guard protects theoperator against thrown objectsduring operation.2. The safety guard (19) is equippedwith a knife (20) that cuts thetrimming line (39) if required (Fig.19).Note: Always remove the knifeprotection before use and replacewhen work is completed.

CARBURETORIf the cutting heads fail to operate atoperational speed the carburetor mayneed to be adjusted. Please contactan authorized service center orqualified person to adjust it.OPERATIONPREPARATION1. Prior to use, first check the productfor damage or any signs of wear,particularly if the product has notbeen used for a long time,2. Check the fuel level and refill withcorrectly mixed fuel/oil if necessary.3. Wear correct personal protectiveequipment to protect yourself fromhidden objects that may be thrownfrom the cutting heads.4. Ensure that the area to be workedis clear of stones, sticks, wires, orother products that could damage theproduct.STARTING1. Place the product on a flat, stablesurface. Ensure that the cutting headin use does not touch the ground orany objects.2. Set the ignition switch (29) toposition “I”.3. If the engine is cold, move thechoke lever (10) to the CLOSEposition and depress the primer (8)until fuel is visible (Fig. 20).4. If the engine is warm, move thechoke lever (10) to the OPENposition, do not press the primer.5. Hold the product stable and pull therecoil starter handle (5) firmly; repeatuntil the engine starts. (Fig.21)WARNING: Allow the recoil starterrope to return slowly andcontrolled after each pull.

6. Allow the product to run at idlespeed for 10 to 15 seconds to let itwarm up; move the choke lever toits OPEN position once the engine iswarm (Fig. 20).7. Once the engine is runningcorrectly, carefully lift the productand secure it to the harness (14).8. Press throttle interlock (3) andthrottle control (27), then press thethrottle safety button (28) to lock it inhalf-gas position of throttle control(Fig. 22).WARNING: Always attach theproduct to the harness. Do notcarry it only with your hands.CUTTING1. Inspect the blade regularlyfor damage, cracks, or breaks.Always replace a damaged blade.WARNING: When working with thecutter blade, there is always a riskof kickback if the cutting headcomes into contact with a hardobject. Kickback will cause thesudden stalling of the cuttinghead, which in turn results in thecutting head being forced in theopposite direction to the rotationof the cutter blade. Ensure thatyou retain a firm grip with bothhands at any sign of suchkickback. Pay attention and retaina firm stance to avoid injuries.

2. Hold the product firmly so that itsits with a gap between theproduct and your right side.

3. Stand upright, do not leanforward and pay attention toposture. Keep both feet apart tohelp retain your balance.

4. Never hold the cutting headhigher than your hip; the higheryou hold the cutting head, thegreater the risk for objects beingthrown.

5. Carefully plunge the blade fromabove when cutting longundergrowth.

6. Move the cutting head towardsthe base of young trees or thickervegetation.

TRIMMING

1. Use the trimmer head (37) to cutsmaller types of weed, lawn grass,or similar soft vegetation.

2. Hold the product firmly so that itsits with a gap between theproduct and your right side.

3. Stand upright. Do not leanforward and pay attention toposture. Keep both feet apart tohelp retain your balance.

4. Hold the trimmer head justabove the ground at an angle ofapproximately 30°

5. Move the product with a slowand regular arc from the left toright before moving back to thestarting position before trimmingthe next area.

6. Ensure the cutting head remainsclean and free from off-cuts thatmay cause it to jam. Checkregularly. Stop the engine, switchthe ignition switch (29) to STOPand remove the spark plugconnector (2) before checking.

7. Trim longer grass in stages.DO NOT cut long grass in onecut (Fig. 23).

8. Feed the trimming line if it isworn-out or ripped by tappingthe bumper (38) on stableground.

TIPS

1. For best results, do not cutwet grass because it tends tostick to the cutting heads andguard, prevents properdischarge of grass trimmings,and could cause you to slip andfall.

2. Pay special attention whenperforming the work close totrees and bushes. The cuttingheads could damage sensitivebark, and damage fence posts(Fig. 24).

STOPPING

1. Release the throttle interlock(30) and throttle control (27) andlet the product run at its idlespeed for 10-15 seconds (Fig.25).

2. Set the ignition switch (29) toposition “O”.

WARNING: The cutting headswill continue to rotate forsome time after the enginehas been switched off. Waituntil the head has come to acomplete stop before placingthe product on the ground.

AFTER USE

1. Switch the product OFF,disconnect the spark plugconnector, and let it cool down.

2. Check, clean, and store theproduct as described.

GENERAL CLEANING

1. Clean the product with aslightly damp cloth and mildsoap. Use a brush for areas thatare hard to reach.

2. Pay attention to the air vents(9) and to cutting heads. Cleanwith a cloth and brush.

3. Remove stubborn dirt withcompressed air (max. 3 bar).Note: Do not use chemical,alkaline, abrasive, or otheraggressive detergents ordisinfection to clean product asthese may be harmful to itssurface.

4. Check for damage and wear.Repair damages in accordancewith this instruction manual or takeit to an authorized service centerbefore using this product again.CUTTING HEADS AND GUARD1. Keep the cutting heads and thesafety guard clean and free fromdebris. Remove grass trimmings.WARNING: Wear safety goggleswhen working on either cuttinghead. Use appropriate tools toremove debris (e.g. a brush orwooden stick). Never use yourbare hands.2. Keep the cutter blade (33) sharpto retain a good cuttingperformance.3. Replace worn or damagedcutter blades. Replace thetrimming line on the trimmer headwith new ones of the same type(Refer to Assembly - TrimmerHead for detailed instructions onhow to remove and attach them).SPOOL1. If the line is used up, the spoolmust either be replaced by one ofthe same type, or the trimming line(39) must be refilled.2. To refill the trimming line, lay theproduct on a flat, stable surfacewith its trimmer head facingupwards.3. Rotate the backing flange untilone of the notches is aligned withthe hole in the gear head.4. Insert the hex key (46) into thehole to lock the spindle.5. Remove the trimmer head (37)by unscrewing clockwise (Fig. 26).6. To replace the spool, press therelease latch of the trimmer headhousing to open the cover.Remove the worn spool andreplace with a new one of thesame type (Fig. 27).

7. To replace the trimming line,press the release latch of thetrimmer head housing to openthe cover.8. Cut a new 19-1/2 ft. trimmingline with a diameter of 2 mm.Form a loop at the middle of theline and insert this loop into thehook on the spool (Fig. 28).9. Wind the 2 parts of thetrimming line in a clockwisedirection firmly around each partin the guide on the spool.10. Insert each end of thethreads in respective holes. Thethreads should stick out 1/2 in. oneach side.11. Screw the bumper (38) anti-clockwise until it is completelyand safely locked.12. Remove the hex key (46).WARNING: After changing thetrimming line, run the productunder no load for at least aminute to make sure that theline and the product areoperating correctly.WARNING: Never use steelthread. Always use cuttingmeans in perfect condition,free of damage.AIR FILTER1. Inspect the air filter regularly.Clean it at least ever 25 hours orreplace with a new one ifnecessary.2. Remove the screw and openthe air filter case (9).3. Tap the filter on a stablesurface to remove dust. Use highpressure air (max. 3 bar) toremove stubborn dust.4. Apply a small amount of airfilter oil on the filter to increasethe filter performance. Wring outsurplus oil and put the filter intothe case.

TRANSPORTATION

1. Switch the product OFF anddisconnect the spark plugconnector before transporting itanywhere.

2. Attach the protection guard tothe cutter blade (33).

3. Always carry the product by itshandle.

4. Protect the product from anyheavy impact or strong vibrationswhich may occur duringtransportation in a vehicle.

5. Secure the product to prevent itfrom slipping or falling over.

BEVEL GEAR

The bevel gear is filled withgrease. Ask an authorized servicecenter or similar qualified person tocheck the quantity regularly and fillup using proper grease ifnecessary.

CARBURETOR

The carburetor is pre-adjusted bythe manufacturer. Should it benecessary to make any changes,please contact an authorizedservice center or similar qualifiedperson. Do not attempt to makeadjustments by yourself.

SILENCER

Should it be necessary to makeany changes or replacement,please contact an authorizedservice center or similar qualifiedperson.

STORAGE1. Clean the product as describedabove.

2. Store the product and itsaccessories in a dark, dry, frost-free, well-ventilated location.

3. Always store the product in aplace that is inaccessible tochildren. The ideal storagetemperature is between 50° and86°F.

FUEL

1. Empty the fuel tank whenstoring the product over 30 days toavoid deterioration of the fuel.

2. Open the tank (6) by unscrewingthe tank cap (7) and use a properfuel pump to empty the tank (Referto Fuel Handling).

Note: Fuel deteriorates over time.Engine starting may be difficult ifyou use fuel that has been kept formore than 30 days. Do no reuseany fuel that has been removed.Always empty the fuel tank whenstoring over 30 days.

Note: Towards the end of theseason, it is advisable to put onlyas much fuel in the tank as youneed for each cut, since it shouldbe completely used up beforestoring the product.

SPARK PLUG

1. Inspect the spark plug every 25hours or prior to long-term storageover 30 days if the use has notbeen this high. Clean or replacewith a new spark plug if necessary.

2. Unplug the spark plug connector(2).

3. Loosen the spark plug with thespark plug wrench (47) andcarefully remove it.

4. The color of the electrodeshould be light-brown.

5. Remove debris from theelectrode with a soft wire brush;avoid heavy cleaning of theelectrode.

6. Dry the spark plug with a softcloth if it is wet with fuel.

7. Check the spark plug gap. Itshould be 0.6-0.7 mm.
