WELCOMENow in their 4th year the Football Business Awards celebrate the essential role which so many businesses play in supporting the wonderful game of Football. This event has become the place at which to celebrate and acknowledge all the hard work going on behind the scenes.

We have all top 8 clubs from the premier league last season represented here today as we acknowledge the positive impact of football on the community and the efforts that Clubs go to in order to engage their fans.

This year we received more entries than ever before and the quality of the submissions continues to rise, so the competition to win an award is fiercer than ever. Our thanks to our panel of judges who have the difficult task of identifying the winners from so many worthy entries. All finalists should be proud of their achievements

We are pleased to welcome so many of you here today to join the celebrations and we would like to thank Smith & Williamson for sponsoring the event as well as Chelsea FC for hosting. GLOBAL AMBASSADORWhen these Football Business Awards were created it was to acknowledge that the influence of top class football extended beyond the stadium. The economic impact of football on cities and towns is significant. Football creates and supports hundreds of thousands of direct and indirect jobs, assists with urban regeneration and is a vital part of city identity. Much of the power in football comes from the players themselves, those who set positive examples and who use their influence for positive outcomes.

Last year we launched a new award to recognise an individual whose service to the game and the good that it can do is exemplary. Our first winner was Sir Bobby Charlton and we look forward to announcing another worthy recipient of the award this year.
