ASIP 2015 Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology 2

Join us in Boston! The American Society for Investigative Pathology (ASIP) 2015Annual Meeting will be held March 28 - April 1, 2015, inconjunction with Experimental Biology 2015 at the BostonConvention and Exhibition Center, Boston, MA. The ProgramCommittee has assembled a vibrant scientific programencompassing diverse topics relevant to basic biology and thepathobiology of human disease.

It has been our pleasure as members of the Program Committee togarner ideas from the ASIP membership, and to incorporate theseinto the design of the final program. The program has beendeveloped in conjunction with ASIP guest societies, including theAmerican Society for Matrix Biology (ASMB), American Collegeof Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP), Association of PathologyChairs (APC), The Histochemical Society (HCS), Society forCardiovascular Pathology (SCVP), Society for ToxicologicPathology (STP), and Italian Society of Pathology andTranslational Medicine (SIPMeT).

This year's scientific program will include ASIP member interests inpathobiology of diseases and will highlight exciting new emergingresearch topics. Presentation formats will encompass symposia andworkshops in addition to educational and training sessions.Symposia by leading scientists will cover timely and broadpathology topics that include Inflammasomes and Disease;Signaling Through the Matrix in Inflammation, Autophagy, andAngiogenesis; Histones, Inflammasomes, NETs and Cell/OrganInjury; Programmed Non-Apoptotic Cell Death in Tissue Injury;Modulators of Endothelial Cell Inflammation and Angiogenesis;and Epithelial Junctions: Polarity and Cancer. Organ-basedthemes will be well represented in sessions such as Genetic andPhenotypic Diversity in Breast Cancer; Ontogeny and Injury inthe Lungs, Inflammation and Wound Repair; HepaticRegenerative Medicine: De-Liver-ing the Promethean Myth;and Protein Misfolding in the Heart: ConformationCardiomyopathies.

The Blood Vessel Club™ Program this year will focus onMacrophages in the Vessel Wall. The Liver Pathobiology ScientificInterest Group (Club Hepatomania™) is proud to sponsor aworkshop entitled ”Cellular and Molecular Mechanisms of LiverInjury: Implications in Disease Pathogenesis.” This year, theMolecular and Cellular Basis of Disease will be on two topics(Neoplasia and Neuropathology) and will be represented in foursessions - Cancer Stem Cells (SIPMeT Symposium); Crossroadsof Cancer Genetics and Epigenetics; Neuropathology as aParadigm for Disease Processes: Advances in the Understandingof Neural Development and Disease: Cells and Circuits and thePresident’s Symposium entitled Advances in InvestigativeNeuropathology.

We will continue to host several sessions in partnership with ourguest societies and Scientific Interest Groups (SIGs). With HCS andthe Immunohistochemistry and Microscopy SIG, we will host theStowell Symposium on Unlocking New Tools for ExperimentalPathology: Advances in Detection Systems, From Super ResolutionMicroscopy to Whole Animal Imaging; and the HCS Symposium onAdvanced Imaging Techniques and Systems: Super ResolutionMicroscopy. With the Society for Toxicologic Pathology and theEnvironmental and Toxicologic Pathology SIG, we will hold aSymposium on Air Pollution and Health Effects: Cognition,Neuropathology, Cardiovascular, and Metabolic Disease - What youOught to Know by Now! With ACVP and the Veterinary PathologySIG, we will host a Symposium on Intestinal Microbiome: Lessonsfrom Comparative Medicine.

ASIP’s Scientific Interest Groups (SIGs) have cooperativelyprogrammed the Blood Vessel Club™, Liver Workshop andMolecular and Cellular Basis of Disease programs. In addition, TheCell Injury SIG has programmed sessions on Inflammation andWound Repair, Programmed Non-Apoptotic Cell Death in TissueInjury, and Histones, Inflammasomes, NETs and Cell/Organ Injury. The Vascular and Mucosal Pathobiology (VAMP) SIG has workedwith the Cell Injury SIG and Inflammation/Immunopathology SIG onthe Inflammation and Wound Repair session as well asprogrammed two other sessions on Modulators on Endothelial CellInflammation and Angiogenesis and Epithelial Junctions, Polarityand Cancer. The Neoplasia SIG will also sponsor a workshopentitled Lessons From TCGA. Several SIGs will jointly host aNetworking Session and Poster Discussion on Tuesday evening.

Continuing Medical Education (CME): The ASIP scientific programsessions are the only educational components of ExperimentalBiology 2015 that are eligible for CME credit. ASIP gratefullyacknowledges the American Society for Clinical Pathology forcosponsoring our educational sessions so that attendees canreceive AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Please go towww.asip.org/meetings/2015/cme.cfm for specific information.

A fundamental component of the program will include abstract-driven mini-symposia and poster sessions. Given ASIP's strongcommitment to supporting young investigators and traineemembers, the program will also include special workshops oncareer development and presentation skills, and will offeropportunities for trainee members to share their research andreceive awards, including the ASIP Experimental Pathologist-in-Training Award (EPIT), Experimental Pathologist-in-GraduateTraining Award (EPIGT) and Trainee Travel Awards. As membersof the investigative pathology community, your participation in theASIP Annual Meeting is not only vital to the Society's success butwill help to grow the excellent scientific program that we haveassembled. Please register, submit abstracts to ASIP topiccategories and join us in staying abreast of leading scientificresearch pertaining to pathophysiology of disease. Furthermore, any faculty (senior or junior) or trainees interested in becominginvolved in the many ASIP-related activities should feel free tocontact us or Tara Snethen at the ASIP office. We look forward toyour participation in ASIP's scientific program at EB 2015.
