DAVIDsTEA is a fresh new tea company from Canada that offers a wide range of quality teas by weight. The design strategy involved integrating new customer experiences such as the tea sample wall (shown above) to allow for smelling the various types of tea offered. Finely detailed casework and displays gave this tea company a fresh new look for their expansion into the US market.

Responsibilities: concept and schematic design, renderings, construction documentation and construction administration.

TYPE RESIDENTIALLOCATION BROOKLYN, NEW YORKSIZE 3400 FT2

DATE 2010 - 2011FIRM JPDA

The strategy developed with the owner of the brownstone was to maintain historical character while introducing deliberate cuts to the residence in order to create a contemporary feel. Where the walls were removed, a highlighting ash hardwood trim covered its ‘wound’.

The residence also focused on sustainability with the extensive reuse and repurposing of on-site materials and an updated infrastructure featuring a new high-efficiency HVAC system and a rooftop solar photovoltaic array.

Responsibilities: concept and schematic design, renderings, document coordination, construction documentation and construction administration.

Imagery Container Brand Strategy

The initial strategy involved capturing O2’s brand into a visually striking and elegant package to create an environment that express the brand. Integrated Colour Kinectics LED lighting were used to express the blue colors used by the O2 brand.

The O2 customers are entitled to exclusive use of this bar/lounge for being loyal customers. In the lounge, online and mobile game ideas (such as trivia and dj requests) were utilized to engage the vistiors further.

The Journey 27

The storefront functions as both a billboard on the High Street and as a window into the O2 Experience.

Beginning with the large illuminated visuals on angled lightboxes behind the glass, the visitor encounters a series of messages that quickly introduce them to the world of O2 and its current offerings.

The fundamental concepts include:

Preserving visibility to the • depth of the shop through a minimal and elegant bubble-free storefront.

Exclusion zones in the glass • guarantee unobstructed views.

Creating theatre in the • windows by encouraging the customer use of two-sided product displays tables directly behind the glass.

Providing a consistent visual • framework for displaying channel messages and promotions via lightboxes and supergraphics.

O2 approached JPDA for submissions to propose a new line of retail stores to express and redevelop their brand. The goal was to foster a new approachable store that has the ability to adapt with the changing times.

A modular wall display system along with display tables with interchangeable panels were employed to allow for multiple changes to merchandise display. Allowing for a clean, concise design allowed for the most flexibility and clarity of design.

Responsibilities: concept development, renderings, design documentation.
