This life saving equipment was generously donated by Ring’s Manufacturing Incorporated, of Melbourne, and bestowed upon local K9 teams during a special 4 legged Law Enforcement BBQ on Monday May 2 nd 2016! All three Titusville Police K9’s will be preforming their duties wearing custom fit vests that are made with layers of ballistic material which absorb the impact from a bullet or an edged weapon. The HOP establishes a process whereby the “homeless” are provided with prevention/diversion services, emergency shelter, repaid rehousing and/or permanent housing, and case management services. To begin the process of assistance, a simple call to 2-1-1 is all it takes! Neighborhood Services- during the month of April 2016, the department processed 3 applications for the Housing Rehab Program, and notified 11 additional applicants for preliminary review. The “waiting list” remains closed to new applicants while the department processes the current citizens on the list. There are currently 11 citizens on the waiting list.

Neighborhood Services- provided the following services at the Harry T. Moore Social Service Center during the month of March 2016: Bread Program- 92 citizens signed in and received bread products Community Dinner Program- 94 hot meals were served to the community Daily Clients- 263 citizens signed in and utilized the Center’s resources and services Social Services- 34 citizens were assisted with obtaining or applying for local, state, or federal services such as Food Stamps, Medicaid, Social Security, Veteran Services, housing, etc.

On April 20, 2016 Titusville Fire & Emergency Services visited Surfside Community Fellowship Church In Titusville. Life Safety Specialist Heather Gilmore provided a presentation on the Fire Departments “File of Life Program.” The “File of Life” is just a small medical record that goes on your refrigerator where you can record important medical information such as the medications you are on or drug allergies that you may have. It is a very important tool for the Firefighters, allowing them to treat the patient more efficiently if they are not able to speak, then the record speaks for them. This is a very important tool for every one of all ages to have. A total of 25 individuals attended the presentation.

The City Clerk’s Office coordinated and hosted the 2016 student awards ceremony on Monday, May 2nd at the Titusville Performing Arts Center. The awards ceremony is held annually to recognize outstanding students from North Brevard area high, middle, and elementary schools. This year, 233 students overall were recognized for their achievement. Participating in the event were City Clerk, Wanda Wells; Assistant City Clerk, Jolynn Donhoff; Secretary, Debbie Denman; Records Manager, Brenda Evans; EDMS Records Manager, Charlene Lehmann; Executive Assistant, Kathy Daniels; Media Specialist, Kurtis Korwan; and the Titusville Police Explorers. Mayor Tulley and City Council; City Manager Larese; Brevard Public Schools North Area Coordinator, Debra Crannell; and School Board District 1 Member, Misty Belford were present to hand out certificates and congratulate the students.

On April 22 & 26, 2016 Titusville Fire & Emergency Services participated in a Car Seat Install in Cocoa. Life Safety Specialist Heather Gilmore assisted her car seat instructor, Mrs. Gayle Whitworth, with the University of Florida, at this event. The installs that day focused on a large part of the Spanish community that lives in Cocoa. An interpreter assisted both Mrs. Whitworth and Heather Gilmore with the translation of the important proper uses of car seats and booster seats. Life Safety Specialist Gilmore helped to install a total of eight car seats and inspected two car seats in the event, teaching a total of 30 people.

On April 30, 2016 Titusville Fire & Emergency Services participated in Healthy Kids Day at the YMCA. Station 12’s crew consisting of Lieutenant Michael Abernathy, Acting Driver Operator Brian Moss and Firefighter Joe Kohutek provided an Engine Display for the event. Life Safety Specialist Heather Gilmore manned a booth and fitted 17 children for bicycle helmets. A total of 1000 people visited the YMCA event.

On April 21, 2016 Titusville Fire & Emergency Services participated in the City Picnic. The Fire Department took first place in the Volleyball tournament. The Volleyball team members consisted of Fire Chief Mike Woodward, Operations Chief Chad

Lindquist, Battalion Chief Chris Threlkeld, Station 12’s crew consisting of Lieutenant Brian Strong, Driver Operator Josh Hall and Firefighter Jason Lengefeld. Titusville Fire & Emergency Services also took first place in the Hot Dog eating contest thanks to Firefighter Aaron Jolly. Senior Fire Inspector Mark Woodward received Fire & Emergency Services Employee of the Year. Congratulations to everyone. To the Water Department thank you again for a great City Picnic.
