“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:1 Dear All Saints’ family,

Back in the 60’s (some of us remember those days) Pete Seeger wrote a song made

famous by the Byrds called Turn, Turn, Turn. The song is notable for being one of a few in-

stances in pop music in which a large portion of scripture is set to music. King Solomon was

writing about the ebb and flow of life and how all things are done in their time. I thought of

these things as our church liturgical calendar changes to what is called ‘ordinary’ time. The

term doesn’t mean that the time isn’t important but literally it means that the Sundays are

‘ordered’ or ‘numbered’. December through Pentecost focused on the great celebrations of the

church Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost. Now in light of the work of Christ our focus is

on our spiritual growth and maturity in Christ by meditating on Jesus’ teachings and miracles.

Aside from the liturgical calendar change it is also almost summer. Summer is often a

time for activities to slow down as many plan for vacations and travel. As I looked ahead at the

calendar however our activities at All Saints’ are anything but slow. Please mark your calendars

On that same Sunday we will commission our Parish Nurse Ministry and hold our first

Health Fair. We will also celebrate our 2013 graduates with a covered dish cookout

lunch.

June 14th Courageous Dads Simulcast at The McNamara’s.

June 14th & 15th Girls Weekend Out! All Saints’ Ladies Retreat at Life Point.

June 22nd is our Parish picnic at Holbrook Hollow Farm.

June 23rd is the date we change to our summer schedule Holy Eucharist at 8:00 (quiet)

In this novel the death of John the Baptist leads up to the trial, crucifiction, and resurrection of Christ. Pilate is later confronted by Saul, the tent maker from Tarsus who accuses him of killing the true son of God. Further on in the novel, Peter, the apostle assures Pilate that he could

be forgiven for allowing our Savior to be crucified.

Any history lover will find this novel spell binding since Pilate's life was full of political intrigue and adven-ture. This book may be found in Groff Hall, on the shelf, with many of our other interest-ing novels.

The reader will soon become engrossed in early Roman politics, then suffer through a long sea voyage from Rome to Caesarea , in Palestine where Pilate and his wife set up housekeeping in Herod's castle. We encourage every father in our church to attend and please bring a friend to this unique "Men's night out". We will provide transportation to the McNamara's from the church at 6:15 PM. Baby sitting will be provided, since the women are also having retreat at the same time. Please RSVP by calling the Church at 410-833-0700

A Father’s Influence submitted by Laura Bolgiano

Have you ever wondered why a priority of Elijah's ministry in the last days involves restoring the relationship between fa-thers and children (v. 6)? Perhaps it's because the father has a powerful role, both in the development of emotional health in his offspring, and in the shaping of their perceptions about God. By his example, a dad can either draw his children to the Lord or push them away.

Sometimes the easiest way to understand this is to look at negative paternal examples:

The angry, unpredictable father instills fear in his children and teaches them that God is a tyrant who lashes out unex-pectedly.

A critical, demanding dad makes his kids feel inadequate. They see God as a strict taskmaster who's never pleased.

The uninvolved or absent father sends the message that his children are unimportant, and both he and God are too busy for them.

A macho dad's tough, uncaring nature leads his children to feel unloved and conclude that the Lord doesn't love them either.

A fault-finding or abusive father conveys that his child is worthless and God is full of condemnation.

But a man with Christlike character provides children with a healthy emotional connection, not only to their earthly dad, but also to their heavenly Father.

Think about how your earthly father helped to shape your perception of God. The Bible will reveal whether your under-standing of Him is rooted in truth or error. If you were blessed with a father who demonstrated the love and compassion of God, take the time to thank Him for this priceless blessing.
