The Presentation
of the Lord
Did you know …
answering our Baptismal call. At St. Charles Garnier we offer visits to those who are homebound. If you would like a visit, notify the office or David Skipper, the co-ordinator for Eucharistic ministers for shut-ins. For those who are of Roman Catholic faith at the Villa, Four Counties Hospital, Babcock Community Centre and Beattie Manor, we offer a Communion service every Sunday. This ministry consists of five teams, of 1 or 2 people each, that work on a rotating schedule. Also, we offer for the residents at Babcock Community Centre – the celebration of the Eucharist every first Wednesday of the month at 10:30am. If Mass is cancelled that week, Mary Lou DePelsmaeker brings Communion and says the Rosary with the residents.
Usually following each of the above events is a social time with “almost-homemade” raisin bread and coffee. For those who cannot partake, pudding cups and ginger-ale are provided. This is a community event that all are welcome to attend. Often, if time permits, visits are made to other residents that need cheering up..
Another interesting initiative that was started this year with the help of the a grade 8 teacher, and the activities department of Babcock Community Centre, is a pen-pal club for each student. The student writes a letter to a resident and they in turn, with the help of a staff or family member, write a letter back to the student. Good reports have been heard from both sides. How exciting – kids who can write and residents willing to share the wisdom of the aged!
A Child’s note to God …
Dear God: Please put another holiday between Christmas and Easter. There is nothing good in there now. Ginny

Imagine you have just been diagnosed with cancer but have no way to get to the treatment appointments you need to save your life. One in five cancer patients cannot get to life-saving treatments. The Canadian Cancer Society’s one-of-a-kind Wheels of Hope transportation service ensures that patients can focus on fighting cancer and not on worrying about how they will get to treatment. Volunteer drivers required for Strathroy area.
News for all parishioners …. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
If Jesus were actually visible in church,
everyone would run to welcome him, but he
remains hidden in the Sacred Host under the
appearance of bread, because he is calling us to
faith that we may come to him in humility, and
it is our duty to honour and adore the Blessed Host. He is
really there!
The specific way that Jesus asks you to love him in return is
to spend time with him in the Blessed Sacrament. It is very
important that Jesus is never left alone during Adoration. In
order to have Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament it is crucial
that you sign up to ensure that someone (at least one but the
more the better) will always be present with Jesus during
Adoration.
"Could you not watch one hour with me?"
*Adoration will take place every Friday at All Saints
Parish. If there is a Mass scheduled, it will follow the
morning Mass until noon. However, on the first Friday of
the month, Adoration will take place immediately
following morning Mass until 4pm.
*At St. Charles, also on the first Friday of the month,
Adoration will take place following morning Mass until
10:30am. (If Mass is cancelled, so is Adoration)
