teddy bear bread.Teddies like to bounce on the

trampoline too!

The little teddy bears have had a wonderful time this week. Stories, songs, YouTube stories, trampolining on the stretchy fabric, playing teddy bear tennis with a balloon over a tennis net, cooking teddy bear bread, visiting the library together and of course a picnic lunch. And that was just Wednesday! This week we have been exploring the colour brown and semicircles. Our resident boat artist, Lewis, showed everyone how he would turn his semicircle into a boat on the sea and added all the important features of propeller, anchor, kick board, sunshade, steering wheel and antennae. The children enjoyed adding these features to their boats too as well as awesome semicircle fish underneath. We have been colour mixing red, yellow and blue on teddy bears and finding all the colours we have made in the past weeks as well as brown when we mix them all up. Our new autumn display is creating great interest with our brown and green ‘camo’ print tents and some cute campers inside. It ties well into our appreciating nature theme. We visited Mr Pike in the Japanese centre for the dolls festival. Altogether a tremendously terrific and tiring week!Sally Parsons Pre-K 5 Teacher

This Sunday evening instead of an inside Chapel we plan to take the boarders to the river. Not one to miss an opportunity I plan to take a story from the Bible which was set beside a river. It is the story of the first convert in Europe, Lydia. She was a dealer in fine purple cloth.

From Acts 16 the story goes: We set sail from Troas and took a straight course to Samothrace, the following day to Neapolis, and from there to Philippi, which is a leading city of the district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. We remained in this city for some days.

On the sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we sat down and spoke to the women who had gathered there. A certain woman named Lydia, a worshipper of God, was listening to us; she was from the city of Thyatira and a dealer in purple cloth. The Lord opened her heart to listen eagerly to what was said by Paul. When she and her household

were baptized, she urged us, saying, ‘If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay at my home.’ And she prevailed upon us.

My commentary on Acts says that the purple dye came from the murex shell and that each crustacean only yielded a drop of purple. Hence the expense of the material which was dyed.On Thursday April 6, the day before term ends we plan as Easter Assembly at 10.30. The theme will be The Seven Words from the Cross.

There is a plaque in the Chapel commemorating the life of Lieutenant Harold McIntosh. He died leading the Second Gaza Light Horse charge 100 years ago on April 24. He also served on two occasions in the Boer War in 1899 and 1901. We have two memorials in our dining room to soldiers from All Saints’ College who fought in South Africa.

QUARRY DUSTReverend Paul Woodhart

Our records show that there were 31 men who fought and one, Charles Kite who died in action.

To my knowledge we have not had a time in the last 25 years to recognise these soldiers and as Harold McIntosh served in both the Boer and Great War we are planning a dinner in our dining room to remember them. It is set for the evening of Anzac Day, Tuesday April 25. Coming from Sydney to address us will be the Chairman of the NSW Committee for the National Boer War Memorial Associat ion, Lieutenant-Colonel David Deasey. If you have someone in your family who served in the Boer War this would be just the time to remember them. Final details will be up next week.On the Wednesday we return for Term 2 and at 10:30 am the College will gather for an Anzac Assembly. Our College Chamber Orchestra is preparing to lead us and we will be addressed by Mrs Diane Morton, a distant relative of McIntosh.Lastly, and looking ahead, Mr Deasey has invited a group from the College to be present at the unveiling of the Boer War Memorial in Canberra on Wednesday May 31st.Working with you,Father Paul.

KANGA CRICKET ENDS THIS WEEKEND!This is the last week for Kanga cricket. I would like to offer a HUGE

dedication is truly appreciated by All Saints’. I would also like to thank the following Senior School students who have helped over the season:

ASC field well but too cautious with the batKanga 9s vs ORCOn Saturday the Under 9s played a great game against ORC on All Saints’ Junior School Oval. Winning the toss, captain Oscar elected to bowl first.Once again we really proved ourselves in the field with some excellent skills and teamwork on display.Unfortunately our bowling went a bit astray and a lot of runs were scored on free hits. On the bright side a couple of run-outs were achieved by various players as well as a few amazing catches. Going into bat our players were a bit too cautious and only managed 68 runs which wasn’t enough for a win.Thank you again to Ayla’s grandfather, Mr Chris Coleman, who helped with the umpiring. One game to go, so play hard All Saints’!

Keep our children safe stay below 20 on school grounds!

Term 1 in the library is all about the All Saints’ College Literature Festival held in Week 10 (Monday 3rd – Wednesday 5th April). This year we are very excited about the authors and illustrators who will be visiting and conducting workshops with all students of the college. This week’s featured author is ….

Louise Park may not be an easily recognisable name in the world of books – that’s because she writes not only under her own name but THREE different pseudonyms. H.I. Larry (the author of the ZAC POWER series), Mac Park (author of the BOY VS BEAST series) and Poppy Rose (the author of the BELLA DANCERELLA series).

Every boy dreams of being a spy—a very cool spy operating under the agent name of Agent Rock Star! Each book is an exciting stand-alone mission in which 12-year-old Zac has to save the day in 24 hours. Zac is a secret spy for the Government Investigation Bureau, just like the rest of his family. Seemingly ordinary, Zac has a secret life full of extraordinary fast-paced adventures involving state-of-the-art gadgets and spy equipment.

Bella’s Bella’s dreams of becoming a ballerina on stage come true in the most unexpected ways when she unlocks her mum’s jewellery box—Amagical jewellery box that transports Bella to the extraordinary ballet lands of Tututopia!

In this best-selling series one boy and his dogbot defend the wall and protect Earth. He is Kai Masters. Border guard and beast battler. Let the battles commence!

Grandparents & Special Friends’ DayWe would like to extend a big thank you to the grandparents and friends who donated

books on behalf of the students to be added to the library collection. The books with their donation plates are ready to be borrowed!
