ALKIMOS BAPTIST COLLEGE
Hello Parents, Friends, Students and Teachers, Welcome back to Term 2 - a fantastic term filled with fun and adventure, including exams, reports, lightning carnivals, discos and most prominently The Princess and the Pea, which our Secondary College is working incredible hard to make sure is a fantastic event for you and your family to come and see. Our Year 6 students will be out next week on the Year 6 Camp. I would love to thank Mr Stravens, Miss Anthony, Miss Johnson and Miss Gale for taking our students away. I will also be attending the camp, and Mrs Werner, Secondary Student Coordinator, will be Acting Principal. Our Year 11 and 12’s will begin their exams in a few weeks, followed closely behind by the Year 7-10’s. I wish all our students the best as they begin to prepare for these important tests. The semester reports will be coming out this term and we are excited to see all the hard work and effort our students have put into their education being reported on and documented. The Princess and the Pea will be a very important event in the life of the College. The staff and students of the College have written this original production. I would like to formally invite all the families of Alkimos Baptist College to come to one of our two night time events on Thursday 27 June and Friday 28 June at 7pm at the True North Merriwa Church campus. Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from the College Office. For our students preparing for The Princess and the Pea and for exams and reports please remember to ask God for help. The writer of Philippians in chapter 4 verse 6 says;
“Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart.”
I hope you all have a great weekend. Yours Sincerely Kieran Graham College Principal

Mothers Day
On Wednesday the 8th of May the Kindergarten and Pre-Primary/Year 1 students celebrated their mums with a special morning tea.
We kicked off the morning with some light stretching positions and body movement - a big thank you to Michelle Schofield for running the fun Kid's Exercise session!
The mums were then able to sit back and relax while the children made flower bouquets and drew their portraits. What a wonderful morning we shared together celebrating our Mums. We wish all our Mum's
at Alkimos Baptist College a wonderful Mother's Day this year!
Secondary Lightning Carnival
Year 7 -12 Latitude Social
On Tuesday the high school had an after-school social event at Latitude trampoline park. Much fun was had bouncing, dodging and slam-dunking balls and climbing.
Year 6 Councillors News
This term the Student Leadership Body has worked hard to
implement a recycling program throughout the Primary School.
Each week, classes place all recyclable paper and cardboard into
recycling bins, in which are then collected and audited by the
Student Councillors on Fridays. Classes are rewarded points for
their efforts, which are then tallied for a class prize to be given out
at each Awards Assembly.
The aim of this program is to raise awareness on the importance of
recycling within the school community and to demonstrate to students,
that they all can do their own little bit to make this world a better place.

Year 3/4 Sleepover
The Year 3/4 class had a sleepover at Alkimos Baptist College on 5th April 2019. After a full day of school the year 3/4 class got dressed and had some crunch and sip. We then set up the tents and played some sports games with Mr Stravens for an hour. Once the games were finished we walked to Chillisaurus Mini Golf. First we had dinner and then we got to play minigolf in teams. It was lots of fun because it was all glow-in the dark! Mr Graham picked our class up on the bus and we went back to Alkimos Baptist College. We then watched ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ on the class projector. Everyone had their sleeping bags, pillows, blankets and lollies for the movie. Afterwards we enjoyed a biscuit and some Milo. Then we went to bed in our tents. The next morning we woke up early, had breakfast and packed up our tents. Our class really enjoyed it and would love to do it again! By Kylan Deniet and Caleb Heaton Year 3/4
Watoto Choir
On Thursday the 9th of May students from Year 1 - 6 travelled
to Quinns Baptist College to watch the fantastic Watoto
Childrens Choir perform. These are an amazing group from
Uganda who travel the country performing a message of the
hope and love they have found in God. Our students were
amazed with these young peoples talent and even some of
the teachers dancing skills!
Woolworths Earn & Learn
Yes, we are participating! Our school is taking part in this years Woolworths Earn & Learn Community Program. Woolworths is once again partnering with Modern Teachers Aids, Australia's biggest supplier of resources for schools in the great rewards sticker challenge. This challenge is a great opportunity to assist the college to help build up our recourses from every learning area including Maths & English resources, Science equipment, Sports gear, Classroom equipment and much much more. There is no limit to the number of points we can collect so your participation will really make a difference.
From Wednesday 1st May when you shop at Woolworths you can collect stickers from the checkout operator and place them on the Earn & Learn sheets provided. There will be one Earn & Learn sticker for every $10 spend in store. All you need to do is place the stickers on the Woolworths Sticker Card. Please note the sheets are only valid if the stickers are placed in the squares, they are not counted if they decorate the sheet. You can collect extra sheets from the College office, or just simply drop off your stickers to the office, and we will complete the sheets for you. Happy collecting!
Fashion & Design & Arts Excursion The Fashion and Art students had a great time at their excursion to Fremantle. They explored the
Kylie on Tour exhibition at the Maritime museum. They also partook in a orienteering challenge inside the maritime section of the museum and visited 3 art galleries. Walking around Fremantle was
inspiring as they soaked up all that Fremantle had to offer them.
