S t r e n g t h s :
My strengths in web design/development lie in my proven ability to:
• understand and write code by hand to a very high standard (HTML, XHTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3, LESS, SASS, jQuery, HTML template development for PHP websites/CMSs)
• design and build websites which conform to NZ e-government accessibility guidelines; which validate to W3C standards; and which contain clean and tidy code
• develop logical, user-focused and easy-to-navigate site architecture within a visually appealing and uncluttered design, maintaining brand consistency between print and web
• design, develop and build animations and websites using Flash
• utilise the wide range of software necessary for the creation of websites and graphics
• research and write or edit content, proof-read and maintain quality control
• deliver fully-tested (cross-platform and on all browsers) error-free websites within time and budgetary constraints, requiring minimal supervision or instruction.
In 2007 I was selected for the New Zealand team at the inaugural international website building competition, FullCodePress. Our team, The Code Blacks, competed to create a fully-functioning website for a non-profit organisation in only 24 hours. In a close-fought race, we emerged triumphant with our website for Grampians disAbility Advocates Association.
In 2010 I was nominated for four ONYA awards, when three of my websites were finalists in the categories of Best Accessibility, Best use of HTML and CSS and Best Content (personal) - and in the HTML/CSS category two out of the three finalists were sites I had built.
O t h e r s k i l l s : I have 5 years’ experience managing large groups of creative people in high-stress environments. I have strong communication and teaching skills. I practice the art of mutually-satisfying compromise. I’m easy to work with, enjoy teamwork with good people and value the multicultural world in which we live. I specialise in the calm and unstressed approach when working to a deadline and deal well with crises of all kinds.
I’m skilled in production management and the organisation of large-scale events, festivals and shows. I’m practical, organised and sensible and I love problem-solving. I am a versatile and focused perfectionist giving 100% to every project, and I don’t stop until it’s done.
I have strong presentation and communication skills, and I’m a good teacher and mentor. I’m also an experienced public speaker, and took part in many TV and radio interviews when I was an event manager and publicist.
