We also had a healthy snack to keep our energy fueled! This is a great activity for families that is in-expensive and close to home! Check them out when you get the chance. Hiddenite Gems, Inc. P.O. SUPPORTING EXPECTANT FAMILIES

GIVING TO OTHERS

With the Holiday season fast approaching, it’s always a good time to talk with your

family about some things you are thankful for. This is a great way to have positive

conversations with each other and spend some quality time together. This is also a great time to find

ways to show how to be helpful to others. Volunteer at a soup kitchen; donate items that your family

doesn’t use anymore to the salvation army, or Christian Crisis Center; draw a picture for a serviceman (that can be

dropped off at Food Lion to be included in cards that are sent to units when deployed) are all ways

to get them involved in caring for others. Even our very young children can express thankfulness

without having to use many words. Being thankful starts at home, a hug, kiss, and a

smile can convey a powerful message of thankfulness and how important they are in your

life. And remember… this goes both ways!

HOLIDAY HEALTHY EATING

During the season of giving thanks, many families prepare and eat big meals

together. Lots of people have great intentions of eating better during the

holiday season but end up over eating and having too much of the sweet stuff

anyway. We have been working hard to share information about staying healthy and this includes during

the holidays. To keep in the habit of eating healthy, when you are making a dish to share, try this yummy

macaroni and cheese with broccoli recipe that our nutrition class prepared during a recent class, it’s

delicious!
