Reading 25 nights of home reading achievers are: Prep: Layci C, Malia S, Byron S, Hudson R, Annabelle F Grade 3: Katie, Willow, Declan, Eh K’Lu S, Ethan M, Ethan L Grade 5/6: Mia D School Council is this Thursday 18th March. This year we were looking to fill two Parent Members places and two Department of Education & Training (DET) Member places on School Council. With no parents nominating, we still have two Parent Member vacancies to fill. If you are interested in being a parent representative on school council, please see the office. Parents on school councils provide important viewpoints and have valuable skills that can help shape the direction of the school. All you need is an interest in the school. Traffic Safety – A message from the City of Greater Bendigo The illegal parking of vehicles adjacent to a school poses a safety concern to children, pedestrians and other road users. Parents are reminded that it is essential to comply with parking restrictions when dropping off and collecting children from Motorists must not stop in no stopping areas, even briefly, with or without the motor running. They must not stop next to a continuous yellow edge line, on nature strips, too close to school crossings, park over drive-ways or double park. A number of schools have short term time restricted areas, such as 2 minute pick up drop off and No Parking area’s (stipulated times) These parking areas are in place to allow for ease of access close to schools and these restrictions must be adhered to. Drivers should also be aware that they cannot perform a U-turn over an unbroken or continuous dividing line. With regard to children’s crossings, the law requires that a driver approaching a children’s crossing must drive at a speed at which the driver can, if necessary stop safely before the crossing. Please slow down and take extra care when driving in school zones. City of Greater Bendigo Parking Officers and Bendigo Police do conduct random patrols throughout the school year at various locations to ensure that motorists are adhering to the Road Rules Head Lice (Nits) We have seen several cases of headlice. Please check your child’s hair and treat as soon as possible. Wet-combing treatment Apply lots of conditioner to your child's wet hair. Rub it into the scalp and along the hair shafts. Leave the conditioner on for at least 15 minutes. ... Use the special lice comb to remove the conditioner from your child's hair. ... Comb your child's entire head thoroughly at least twice.

Year 3/4 News Students in the 3/4 unit have been delving right into their narrative reading and writing. Within reading students have been thor-oughly examining their books to find adjectives and good book language to transfer into their writing. Students have also been look-ing at homophones (words that sound the same but are spelt differently and mean different things) for example; no and know. Could you help your child think of some homophones? We would love to add them to our classroom display. Perseverance has been evident in our maths lessons, students are really adapting to the new method we have established. Addition and shape have been a major focus. A reminder to all students that they need to be reading each night to an adult, writing it in their reading diary and returning it each day.

Year 5/6 News In writing we are learning to structure an introduction to a narrative, including a setting, at least 2 characters, why, a time frame and at least 2 descriptors for both characters and the setting. Our reading focus will be synthesising and analysing the text to find infor-mation. We will discuss characters within the story and how they change. Spelling will investigate ‘ly’ suffixes. In Maths we are inves-tigating the connection between decimals, percentages and fractions. Art News: In the art room. Students have been busy working on current projects that focus on line. We have also been combining the element of line with col-our and look at the results! Preps will start to feel more familiar in the art room in the coming weeks and aware of art room expectations. It was lovely to see the effort put into our line activity last week.
