J.O.Y. Ministry (Just Older Youth)

What a great first quarter of 2019 with and for the senior adults at Alcoa First, and

that's just the beginning!!! On Saturday evening, April 13, our members joined with Middlesettlements UMC members for the first of 4 dates/activities this year.

We were treated to a delicious, catered meal, and enjoyed the unique entertainment of Eugene Wolfe as he shared memories, songs, and photographs which made up his one-man comedy show presenting life according to “The Book of MaMaw”!

Upcoming May activities:

May 6 through May 8 at the Mainstay Suites, Pigeon Forge, Tn. senior adults

from around the Holston Conference will come together for a retreat exploring ways that we are more than our memories, and also to enhance our relationship

with Christ. Fellowship, worship, workshops, nightly entertainment, and great food adds up to what should be a great time spent with fellow older adults. The deadline

has come and gone, but if there are any who are interested in still going, we'll check with the conference to see if there are rooms available.

Just let, Janet, Karen, or Cindy know!

Friday, May 24, our church bus will be heading to Chuckey, Tn. We'll have lunch at the Farmer's Daughter Restaurant. We're sure this road-trip will become an annual trip! What an incredible menu! Served family style, this Amish farm-to-

table eatery is well worth time and miles traveled, and, besides, it gives us lots of opportunity to look for 'hogweed' – right Janet Bledsoe?! Ha! One note, they only take cash, no credit cards. A sign up sheet will be on the welcome desk in the front

hallway very soon. There is limited space on the bus, so sign up quickly.

If anyone has questions about this ministry or any of the events scheduled, or ideas for future events, please contact Janet Bledsoe, Karen Gourley, or Cindy Murphy.

We'd love to hear from you!!!!!
