Alhaurín de la Torre is a town in the province of Málaga, Andalusia, in

southern Spain. The town is part of Málaga Metropolitan Area and of 

the comarca of Valle del Guadalhorce. It sits at the entrance to

the Guadalhorce valley on the slopes of the Sierra de Mias mountains, some

The township sits $etween the Sierra de Mias, mountain formation covered with

The Sierra de Mijas is a mountain range in southern Spain, part of the coastal

mountain range that lies $ehind the %osta del Sol ccidental, in Andalusia. Itseparates the Valle del Guadalhorce region from the %osta del Sol.

The highest point is the &ico Mias at !,!- metres. Geologically it is located in the

inner part of the %ordillera /'tica. It is traditionally divided into two sectors, and is

mostly composed of mar$le and, to a lesser e0tent, limestone.

 The fora consists o pine and abundant Mediterranean scrub as

thyme, rosemary and palmetto. In the middle o this massi lowlatitudes and we ound a large pine orest repopulated in the mid-

twentieth century, along with carob and olive trees, an important ood

source or chickadees, robins, crossbills and herrillos, among others,

who take reuge in these orests. On the slopes o the mountain you

sage, rue, ennel, palm, esparto$ Through various paths and trails that

run this natural enclave, scents and ragrances open scrub and small

ailments under its healing properties. !s part o the pasture, in orest

clearings, you can see one o the most advanced amilies o the plant

kingdom$ orchids, which together with the native plants that develop

and thickets.

was the place where @eneral #osA MarBa de Torri"os took reuge ater revolt

against the absolutism o 5ernando 2II in 9C, beore his eDecution.

!rcos de Eapata$ well-preserved remains o what was the !/ueduct o 

5uente del &ey, originally rom the eighteenth century and was built to bring

water rom the spring o the same name, located in 'hurriana to Malaga. Itnever came into operation, due to the enormous pressure eDerted by the

landowners o the valley and numerous economic problems. It is located in

the 1arrio de Eapata.

!lbaicBn caves$ are caves that are inside thirteen homes located in the Old

0uarter, which are currently being studied and cataloged. The result o this

study will determine the value o each o them and their possible protectionand recovery.

!rchaeological remains around the nucleus ound numerous ragments o 

pottery, bowls, canvas walls, coins and tombs belonging to the &oman era.

Mollina, where remains o a Moorish armhouse and a tower o the same

period are as well as other &oman ruins. 8e also ound important

archaeological sites nearby 'ardon The 2alley and 7orse &ace and around

the 7ouse o Torri"os, in Torreal/uerBa.
