09:30 - 10:00 Airline Case Study: Vueling - Automating humans back into aviation – how Robotic Process Automation is used on a daily basis within the CAMO department Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is an upcoming technology that allows software robots to mimic actions that human users of M&E/MRO software would normally perform, however is able to perform this faster and without the existence of potential human error. As such RPA has a huge potential in supporting airline Airworthiness Management and Maintenance departments in freeing up their staff to focus on the things that really matter rather than performing dull and repetitive tasks. More than a year ago, EXSYN and Vueling started their collaboration on RPA and since then a software robot has been creating all overnight maintenance work packages for Vueling’s entire fleet of 100+ aircraft. During this keynote presentation the various aspects of Robotic Process Automation will be explained, followed by a methodology on how airlines can start themselves with applying Robotic Process Automation and is rounded off with a look at how RPA has helped Vueling in their day-to-day business.
Albert Almendro, Aircraft Structures Engineer and AMOS Administrator, VuelingSander de Bree, CEO, EXSYN
Workshop Session: A Fuel Efficiency Masterclass (9:30 - 10:30)This Masterclass session will show you how to build a successful fuel savings program or further enhance an existing program. The economic impact of fuel efficiency management is huge, since fuel costs typically represent 30% - 40% of the total costs for an airline. You will be presented with practical examples on how to lower your fuel consumption by several percentage points and substantially improve the profitability. The topics of the case study include:
• Why is fuel efficiency management important
• How to start and organize a fuel efficiency improvement program
• What fuel saving initiatives can be implemented
• How to discover savings and manage initiatives
• Choosing the right software to support a fuel savings program
• How to ensure you make the most out of your current software solution

MRO Workshop Session: M&E / MRO System Health Check (09:00 – 9:30)The aviation industry is changing. New aircraft are providing greater, more informative and complex streams of data. New business models for managing and outsourcing key maintenance functions are placing new demands on the systems and process used to support this increased complexity, and sharing of information with business partners. How your M&E systems are performing in supporting these objectives, are critical to your overall business success.
The workshop will touch on some key industry discussion points and management conversations. Where does an organization start the journey of improvements and how do your focus on the most important areas to seek efficiencies? Paper, whiteboards and spreadsheets, a necessary vice even in 2018? Are you losing the battle with your own IT department and debating the merits of different technologies and ideologies behind them versus focusing on business outcomes by the use of information technology?
The workshop will provide an overview of a typical health check scope:
• Documenting and connecting key organizational business drivers and goals, to the preparedness of your IT systems to facilitate such achievements, for example, will your IT systems support, or impede the achievement of your goals.
• A set of summarized actionable recommendations in support of your key business objectives and suggestions.
• Leveraging current process and knowledge in order to grow the business.
• Controlling and managing costs and increased industry complexity
• Technics to avoid and reduce costs, including inventory optimization
• Reducing errors and customer complaints, and achieving corporate time and quality objectives
• Ability to respond to changes, while still achieving performance objectives

15:30 - 16:00 REFRESHMENT BREAK – SOFTWARE DEMONSTRATIONS
16:00 - 16:30 Ramp Agent Workspace – Make your Ramp paperless! All Airlines are moving very fast forward when digitalizing the passenger experience to make their operational processes more efficient and more convenient for the airline customers. You can check in, rebook and receive information about flight change – all directly via your smartphone. But what about airline operations – especially in ground handling, where the Ramp Agent often acts as a “trouble shooter” for many operational processes? During the aircraft turnaround the Ramp Agents still face a lot of unnecessary paperwork as well as time-consuming and in-efficient information exchange and communication. Moreover, many times the turnaround process still remains a “black box”. How to solve this? The solution is to: Digitalize Your Ramp! The presentation demonstrates how a “Ramp Agent Workspace” can support the Ramp Agent with the needed transparency and workflows. On top it also shows a view on “Future Load Control” where 3D visualization helps to achieve better results.
Michael Muzik, Senior Product Manager, Lufthansa Systems
16:30 - 17:00 Leveraging data and analytics to optimize inventory asset performance - Addressing inventory planning system and process gaps in the aviation supply chain. Inventory Planners are challenged to maximise spare parts availability where and when needed, wrestling with huge complexity because of the volume of different part types, stochastic demand, changing operations and multiple supply channels. MRO IT systems contain valuable data, however, there is a requirement to provide additional analytical decision support capabilities to drive smart decision making. This session discusses how this data can be leveraged to improve service levels while reducing investment in inventory.
Micheál Armstrong, Founder and CEO, Armac Systems
