WG CDR SHAMILA SYED ASSUMES CHARGE AS VICE PRINCIPAL

A farewell dinner was arranged on 21 November, 2020 to bid adieu to Wg Cdr Amjad Ali Khan, Vice Principal, on his retirement after serving the institution for 29 long years. He joined the College as a Mathematics teacher in 1990. Besides teaching, he also handled many additional key responsibilities. He remained Head of Maths Deptt for 25 years and Housemaster Alam House for about 17 years. Under him, his House made a hat-trick in winning Education Trophy and twice lifted the coveted Quaid-i-Azam Shield. He served as Head of Sciences and Director Sports simultaneously for five years before he assumed charge as the Vice Principal on 1 January, 2019. He also has the honour to represent Pakistan in Sri Lanka as contingent commander at Herman Loos Championship Trophy Camp-2005. He was awarded CAS Commendation Certificate in 2004. Wg Cdr Shamila Syed, Vice Principal, Wg Cdr Abdul Latif Noonari (R), Wg Cdr Shehzad A Khan, Head of Humanities, Sqn Ldr Arif Mubeen, Head of Maths Deptt and Sqn Ldr Ishfaq Ahmad expressed themselves on the occasion recounting the sweet memories of their long association of working together. Sqn Ldr Abdul Rauf and Sqn Ldr Muhammad Iqbal expressed their feelings by singing songs. AVM Qasim Masood Khan (R), Principal, appreciated the outgoing Vice Principal for his long and dedicated services to the Institution. He also wished him an equally successful future ahead. Wg Cdr Amjad Ali Khan was presented the Air Force Crest, a wooden plaque carrying a thank you note from the faculty, a crest bearing signatures of the whole faculty and an album of his photographs snapped on different occasions. In turn, Wg Cdr Amjad Ali Khan also presented a souvenir to the Principal for the College. Begum AVM Qasim Masood Khan also presented a memento to Begum Wg Cdr Amjad Ali Khan. In his Farewell speech, Wg Cdr Amjad Ali Khan (R) expressed gratitude for giving him such a warm sendoff. He also expressed his love for the College and deep regard for his colleagues.

Wg Cdr Shamila Syed took charge as the Vice Principal on 5 July, 2020. She is a veteran English language teacher who joined the Institution in 1991. She is masters in English and has done Dip (TEIL). In 2005, she was selected for the South Asian Teachers' Training Programme conducted by United States Education Foundation Pakistan. Besides teaching, she has been Officer in-Charge Hobbies Club, Officer in-Charge English Dramatics Club and Editor English Section of the College Magazine for many years. She has the unique honour of being pioneer Officer in-Charge of at least five co-curricular activities at the College namely Inter House JAM (Just a Minute) Competition, Friday Tutorials, Annual Inter House Essay Writing Competition, Sunday Reading Hour and publishing of English Literary Society's `E-Mag' (renamed Eagles' Wisdom). She also has the great honour of being the first female HoD English, Head of Humanities and Vice Principal as well. She has also represented Pakistan in Azerbaijan as Contingent Commander in Young Rescuer Competition in 2016. She was awarded CAS Commendation Certificate in 2005.� Her appointment as Vice Principal not only acknowledges Wg Cdr Shamila's commitment and contribution to the grooming of the scores of Sargodhians, but also pays tribute to the dedication of the PAF women.

On 25 July, 2020 a dinner was arranged to give farewell to Sqn Ldr Sheraz Wahab, College Admin Officer and Flt Lt Muhammad Tayyab, College Adjutant. Sqn Ldr Sheraz Wahab, CAO, has been posted out to Shehbaz Base, Jacobabad as Officer In-charge “P” Squadron. Whereas, Flt Lt Muhammad Tayyab has been posted out as Officer In-Charge Messes and Camps at Training Wing Korangi Kreek, Karachi. Air Vice Marshal Qasim Masood Khan (Retd), Principal, appreciated the performance and dedication of the outgoing officers in their respective domains and wished them and their families a happy and prosperous future. He also gave them souvenirs and the College Crest. The outgoing officers thanked their colleagues and the College Administration for giving them a warm send off and being cooperative during their stay at the College.

On 8 August, 2020, a farewell ceremony was arranged in the Rehman Auditorium to bid adieu to the th

graduating the 48 Entry of the College. The outgoing Entry paid homage to their teachers through a pictorial display. Hamid Nawaz (3604-Ad), outgoing Head Boy, thanked the College Administration for arranging their farewell in the midst of difficult covid times. He said the time that they had spent at their alma mater would stay with them forever as they were departing as mature youth with much broadened horizons. He promised, on behalf of his entry, that they would always uphold the Sargodhian traditions and never let their alma mater down. The outgoing boys were given SOBA certificates and College souvenirs. He appreciated their individual and collective excellent achievements in different domains of training. He wished them all the best in their future endeavours. He also administered an oath to the outgoing Entry emphasizing the moral values of never lying, stealing and cheating as edified by the College Honour Code. The Principal also gave away commemorative Head Boy Cane to Hamid Nawaz.

rdOn the eve of 02 October, 2020, the newly inducted 53 Entry was given a welcome dinner by Air Vice

Marshal Qasim Masood Khan (R), Principal, at his residence. The Principal along with the faculty, officers and lady wives warmly welcomed the young Sargodhians at the aesthetically set up venue. Before the dinner was

rdserved, the lively 53 Entry exchanged pleasantries with their host and guests.rd

The talented 53 Entry shared some nice jokes, sang songs, performed dances, enacted some skits and gave beautiful poetry rendition in a variety programme. Zain's (3983-Y) melodious song “BAARI” will be remembered for a long time. The comperes of the function were Abdul Kabir (3945-R) and Rayyan (3975-A).

The Principal appreciated the young Sargodhians and the efforts of Sqn Ldr Ishfaq Ahmad, FLt Lt Ali Abbas and Flg Off Muhammad Atif for preparing the boys for such a well-coordinated show.

The Munirites coloured the night further with three well synchronized group dance performances of Bhangra, Khattak and Balochi dance led by Mansoor Ali (3646-M), Shehzad Waseem (3684-M) and Allah Nawaz (3633-M), respectively.

A sumptuous dinner was served after the arrival of the Chief Guest, AVM Qasim Masood Khan (R), Principal. The Munirites gave a brief presentation to entertain their guests. First of all, a pictorial narrative of the past year House activities prepared by Danish Shabbir (3622-M) and Danyal Shehzad

Mansoor Ali (3646-M), House Captain Munir, presented the House Report. In his speech on the occasion, the Principal appreciated the Munirites for maintaining their position and gave away commendation certificates to the high achievers in academics, sports and co-curricular activities.

On the eve of 28 September, 2020, the Champion Munir House, hosted a dinner in the Pre-Cadets' Mess Lawns to celebrate its enviable achievement of winning the overall performance award, Quaid-i-Azam Shield for the third time in a row. The persistent Munirites proved their mettle in all academic, co-curricular and sports competitions. They won the Quiz Competition, Declamation Contest and coveted Academics Trophy along with many individual prizes in sports and other co-curricular activities.

A ceremony was held in the Pre-Cadets' Mess Lawns on 22 August, 2020 to proclaim House and thCollege appointments of the 49 Entry. Uzair Ali Akhtar (3628-A), M Abdullah Khan (3616-Ad), Khuzaima

Khal id (3647-I), Mansoor Al i Usaid (3646-M), M Arsalan Malik (3607-R) and Hassan Faizan (3645-Y) were designated the house captains. House Captain Munir, Mansoor Ali Usaid, is the Deputy Head Boy as well. Hamza Amin (3621-I) was appointed the College Prefect for Discipline (CPD) whereas, Talha Tanveer (3606) from Iqbal House was announced the new College Head Boy. AVM Qasim Masood Khan (R), Principal, congratulated all appointment holders and advised them to realize the worth of their role in effective running of all House and College matters. They must aim at implementing College rules and set healthy grooming environment. The Principal also handed over Head Boy Cane to the new Head Boy and administered oath to the new batch of command.

THPROCLAMATION OF APPOINTMENTS : THE 49 ENTRY

Faculty development programmes help to enhance the knowledge, skills and abilities of teachers. Hence, faculty development has become an increasingly important constituent of every educational institute of repute. The College held its Annual Faculty Development Programme from 22 to 28 June, 2020. The faculty working in groups comprising three or four members shared their insight and experiences on topics pertaining to Educational Psychology like the art of mentoring, the role of a housemaster, developing emotional intelligence, pursuit of happiness, critical analysis of senior - junior relationship, horizontal growth plane, the power of positive thinking, critical thinking, values based education and effective communication skills. Flg Off Raheel Riaz presented book review of Mark Bowden's book, 'Winning Body Language'. AVM Qasim Masood Khan (R), Principal, appreciated all the presenters in his address on the final day of the programme. He emphasized that collective wisdom surely paves way towards forming an ideal team that carries potential to establish a comprehensive learning and grooming environment.

The College holds a Badge Award Ceremony annually to appreciate the academic achievements of the Pre-Cadets and the outstanding class results of the faculty members. The airmen and civilians who perform well in their respective domains are also awarded Principal's Commendation Certificate on the occasion. This year the ceremony was held on 08 October, 2020.

The total number of awardees among students was an enviable 173. Badge of Distinction was awarded to Muhammad Abdullah (3637-M)

stMuhammad Abdullah (3777-M) from the 51 Entry for achieving the first position in F Sc Part-I Pre-Board Exam, SSC-II (Composite) Exam and SSC-I Pre-Board Exams, respectively. 21 boys for F SC Part-I Pre-Board Exam, 63 boys for SSC-II Board Exam, 42 boys for SSC-I Pre-Board Exam and 14 boys for Class 8 Promotion Exam were awarded Badge of Excellence. The Badges of Excellence were awarded to students getting 90% and above in SSC Part-II Board Exams, 85% and above in SSC-Part I Pre-Board Exam and class 8 Promotion Exam, and 80% and above in F Sc Part-I Pre-Board Exam.

29 members of the faculty, 09 airmen and 31 civilians were awarded Principal's Commendation Certificate. AVM Qasim Masood Khan (R), Principal, appreciated the achievements of all the awardees and advised them to keep working with the same keenness to scale even greater heights.

BADGE AWARD CEREMONY

th The 50 Entry produced an outstanding result in their SSC (Composite) Board Exam-2020 with all 79 of them achieving A+ Grade with an excellent class average of 92.2%. Muhammad Bukhari (3687-M) stood first securing 1064/1100 (96.8%) marks. Muhammad Zulshamalain (3696-R) and Shaheer Ahmed (3716-M) shared the second position with 1062/1100 (96.6%) marks. Muhammad Abaidullah (3702-M), Ahmad Ali Khan (3686-M) and Samiullah Shehzad (3728-A) shared third position with 1060/1100 (96.4%) marks.

Part-I Exam. Muhammad Faizan (3533-R) earned the first position in his Entry with 1046/1100 (95.1%) marks. The second position was grabbed by Ali Abbas (3525-I) with 1031/1100 (93.7%) marks and Abdullah Saad Ali (3556-I) with 1029/1100 (93.5%) marks got the third position.

E-Olympiad is an online competition with collaboration of Tiger Force of Pakistan under supervision of Assistant Commissioner Taxila, Faheem Ashraf and E-Olympiad President Syed Wajahat Haider. It’s founder is a Sargodhian, Syed Haseeb Haider (3657-M)

There were 26 competitions held during the summer vacation from 24-26 May, 2020. Five Pre-Cadets participated from their homes. Muhammad Osama (3650-I) got first position in calligraphy, Mehdi Abbas (3669-I) stood first in Urdu Poetry rendition and Affan Zarrar (3729-Y) was runner up in the same competition.

The Inter House English Debate and Declamation Contest was held on 07 November, 2020. Air Vice Marshal Sajid Habib, HI (M), (Retd), former Principal, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The judges for the contest were Prof Muhammad Akhtar from Fazaia Inter College, Sargodha, Mrs Sadia Hassan from Beacon House Cantt Campus and Ms Saima Qamar, HoD Eng at Readers Grammar School, Sargodha. The junior contestants had declamation whereas, the seniors had to speak for or against the motion, “Wealth not values is necessary for survival today”. Zulqarnain (3893-Y) stood third in junior category. Abdullah Waqas (3902-A) won the second position, and the title of the best English Language speaker was grabbed by Haseem Samo (3898-I). Khuzaima Khalid (3647-I) stood third in the English Debate Contest. Abdullah Nasarullah (3637-M) won the second position, and the best English language debater for the year 20-21 was Abdullah Khan (3893-Ad). Overall trophy was won by Iqbal House and the runners up were the Alauddinians. The Chief Guest appreciated all the speakers and awarded prizes to the jubilant winners.

INTER HOUSE ENGLISH DEBATE & DECLAMATION CONTEST

nd Hamid Ali (3928-Ad) of the 52 won the first position at provincial as well national level in the category of Digital Painting in the Inter Base Aviation Art Contests that were held on the theme of PAF's performance in wars and Operation Swift Retort. He had the honour to receive his prize from Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser who was the guest of honour on the prize distribution ceremony.

Ali Hammad (3736-Ad) recited verses from the Holy Quran and Abdullah Khan (3616-Ad) spoke on the occasion highlighting the courage displayed by PAF personnel and their feats of heroism. Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan's message to the nation was relayed by the Principal. The Principal also inspired the young Sargodhians by mentioning the valiant feats of the great heroes of war of 1965 and lauded the PAF pilots mentioning 'Swift Retort' of February 2019. The ceremony ended with a prayer for the welfare and prosperity of the Pakistan Air Force and the Motherland.

On 07 September, 2020, the College paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1965 war by conducting a Wreath Laying Ceremony at Heroes' Monument. AVM Qasim Masood Khan (R), Principal, and Talha Tanveer (3606-I), College Head Boy, laid the wreaths. The orderlies were Abdullah Khan (3616-Ad), Asad Hayat (3640-Ad), Sarmad Murtaza (3614-I) and Hamza Amin (3621-I).

MUNIR & YUNUS SHARE ATHLETICS TROPHY

This year, Munir and Yunus Houses emerged as the best with 118 points each to their credit in the Inter House Athletics Championship held from 13 to 16 November, 2020. Alam House was the runner up. Abdullah Mukhtar (3777-M) won the best athlete title with 10 points to his credit. He was first in 100 M race, 400x4 M relay race, second in 200 M race and 400 M race. The runners up were Zohaib Ahmad (3730-Y) and Hamza Amin (3621-I) with 9 points. This year for the first time, the names of Hobbies Club secretaries were announced in front of the whole College in the Morning Assembly on 07 October, 2020. The new secretaries of Science, Photography, Woodwork, Aero-modeling, Calligraphy, Painting, Clay-modeling and Sketching were Shehzad Waseem (3684-M), Danish Shabbir (3622-M), Muaviyah Saleh (3609-Y), Talha Tanveer (3606-I), Muhammad Osama (3650-I), Hammad Ali (3656-R), Bilal Rao (3625-R) and Hashaam Saleem (3674-Ad), respectively. The Hobbies Club Secretary for the year 2020-21 is Danyal Shahzad (3653-M). Air Vice Marshal Qasim Masood Khan (R), Principal, congratulated them and pinned on their badges.

This year, the College arranged proper training of th

shooting for the senior most 49 Entry Pre-Cadets. Prior to actual firing, they had the Ground-Training in Pre-Cadets' Mess Lawn where they learned safety precautions and handling AK-47 (AR) in four-steps. PTIs told them the prerequisites of the procedure.

THNIGHT SHOOTING BY THE 49 ENTRY

This year Inter House Senior Football Championship was held from 07 to 12 September, 2020. After a tough competition, Munir and Alam houses made it to the final. The team captains Danish (3622-M) and Ahmed (3659-A) led their teams exceptionally well making the final quite thrilling as both teams remained tied and none could score any goal till the end. At the end, the match was decided on penalties 5-4 in favour of Alam House. The best scorer of the championship was Israr (3746-Ad) with five goals to his credit. Air Vice Marshal Qasim Masood Khan (R), Principal, appreciated the teams and distributed prizes amongst the worthy recipients.

The Inter House Junior Football Championship was held from 9 to 15 October 2020. After a tough competition, Munir and Alam house made it to the final. Under the leadership of Muhammad Iqbal (3852-M) and Muhammad Zeeshan (3820-A), teams played exceptionally well but the match ended 2-1 in favour of Munir House. The best scorer of the tournament was Abdullah Mukhtar (3777-M) with five goals to his credit. The Inter House Senior Hockey Championship was held from 21 to 28 September, 2020. After a lot of persistent efforts, Munir and Rafiqui Houses made it to the final. The final match proved quite brisk from the very beginning under the captaincy of Muhammad Usman (3670-M) and Saleem Abbas (3630-R). The Munirites pressed really hard but the Rafiquians countered all their moves well and won the match 3 to 2. The best scorer of the tournament was Shaheer Ahmed (3716-M) with eight goals to his credit. RAFIQUI HOUSE LIFTS SENIOR HOCKEY TROPHY

The Inter House Junior Hockey Championship was held from 21 to 25 October 2020. All teams tried their best but teams Iqbal and Alauddin made to the final. Both the teams remained neck and neck with each other throughout. Resultantly, the match drew 2-2. Hence, the match was decided on penalties and Alauddin House won by 4-2. The best scorer of the tournament was Muhammad Sultan (3815-Ad) with five goals to his credit. Wg Cdr Shamila Syed, Vice Principal, appreciated the finalist teams and gave away prizes to the worthy recipients.

ALAUDDIN HOUSE LIFTS JUNIOR HOCKEY TROPHY

Wg Cdr Shahid Hafeez, Head of Sciences, Sqn Ldr Arif Mubeen, HoD Maths and Flt Lt Raheel Riaz attended his funeral. May Allah grant eternal peace to the departed soul.

The whole College felt immensely grieved to hear the sad news of demise of a veteran teacher, Mr Zafar Alam, on 21 August, 2020. Mr Zafar Alam joined the College as a teacher in 1956. He taught subjects of Urdu, History and English. He served as tutor of Fury House and AHM of Tempest House. In 1964, after passing Civil Superior Services Examination, he was transferred to Ministry of Education as Assistant Advisor. In 1990, he was appointed as Secretary Board of Governors and held the post till 2001.

VETERAN TEACHER ZAFAR ALAM PASSES AWAY

s t( 1 E n t r y, 6 8 -Sabre/Rafiqui) left the College grieved as he breathed his last on18 November, 2020. He was a very active participant of SOBA meetings and was always involved in decision making bodies. He was CEO of Sargodhian Spirit Trust School, Rashidabad. May Allah Almighty grant him the highest place in Jannah. Amin!

Mr Ali Sher, an old PTI of Rafiqui House, breathed his last on 2 November, 2020. Mr Ali Sher was Welter Weight West P a k i s t a n B o x i n g C h a m p i o n w h o served the College from 1956 to 1984. He was gymnastics and boxing coach of Rafiqui House. The news of his death sent a wave of sadness amongst all associated with the College. May Allah grant eternal rest to the departed soul and patience to the bereaved.

NEWS IN BRIEF

The outbreak of COVID 19 pandemic paralyzed all activities including the Education system. Like all other institutions, the College was closed on 22 March, 2020. To mitigate the impact caused by closure, the College began online classes for all Entries from 29 June, 2020 till the reopening on 16 August, 2020. The Pre-Cadets were called in phases starting with first year and second year

th thclasses boys. Two weeks after their arrival, 9 and 10 classes reported to the College, and the junior most new Entry joined on 13 September, 2020. The Pre-Cadets were kept in isolation for two weeks in Thunder-I and Thunder-II before they resumed the normal routine.
