The comparative form of an adjective compares two things.For example, the weather.

Or two persons.

To make comparative adjectives some rules must be followed.

To form the comparative we add er at the end of the adjective and than.

e.g : fast faster than

small smaller than

• The car is faster than the bicycle

•Jerusalem is warmer than London in July.

1 )a- Sami is taller than Ahmad.

b- Ahmad is not as tall as Sami.

2) a- Jerusalem is wetter than London in February. b- London is not as wet as Jerusalem in February

Examples comparative Adjectives

The second apple is larger than the first.

The third apple is not as large as the first apple.

*Write the sentence again with the same meaning .Use not as…………as ?

e.g: Jerusalem is warmer than London in July.

London is not as warm as Jerusalem in July .

•We make comparative sentences by adding er + than e. g: Our house is larger than your house .

We use not as ……………..as to give the same meaning of er + than.e.g: The mouse is smaller than the cat.

The can is not as small as the mouse .
