Proposal:

SeasonFor the upcoming season, the display will be for the fall season in

Chicago. Fall is my favorite season, which is a major factor as to why I chose it. Especially in Chicago, clothing drastically transforms from the summer to fall because of the significant changes in environment and temperature. Ideas/Concept Behind Display

The concept of the window display is to incorporate the things fall is known for, such as leaves and pumpkins, and display the fall merchandise around these props. In Chicago and the Midwestern area, there are many trees and fields, and we will use this as a backdrop for our window display. Much of the culture looks forward to fall, bonfires, cozy sweaters, change of the trees and leaves, and pumpkins. (“Fall is Here! 12 Reasons to Celebrate.”)Theme

The Theme for the window display will be “Leaping into Fall”. This theme will be able to incorporate all of our props, colors and concepts. Colors

Colors that will be used for props and clothing will include typical fall colors, such as deep red/maroon, burnt orange, mustard yellow, teal, brown, tan, ivory and purple. (“Fall 2015: An Evolving Color Landscape.”) All of these colors will complement each other well, and be appropriate for the season and display.

Items to IncludeProps that will be used for the window display include a pile of paper

leaves made of red, orange and yellow. Also, we will incorporate tree branches, a haystack, and a couple of small pumpkins. There will be a backdrop hanging behind the props and mannequins that will have a tree with fallen leaves. The display will use at least two mannequins, one female and one male.

Merchandise that will be displayed will incorporate women’s and men’s clothing. The women’s clothing will include a sweater and jeans, along with accessories such as a handbag, belt and possibly gloves. Men’s clothing will also include a sweater and chino pants, along with a casual chambray button-up shirt underneath the sweater. Accessories for men will be a belt and hat. Principles of Design

Principles of design that will be incorporated into the display are balance and harmony. The display will have an asymmetrical balance, with the mannequins in the middle and props located on either side. Harmony will be achieved by having a unified look. Props

Props that will be used in the display will include pumpkins, leaves, rake, bale of hay and tree branches. All of these props will match the theme “Leaping into Fall” and are appropriate for the Chicago area environment.Location

This display will be in the main window of the retail store. The elaborate use all of the props and merchandise will be used to draw in consumers to the store.

Signage RequiredBrand Signage:

For the brand signage, I wanted to create something simple and elegant. The blue and brown colors are attractive to both genders and complement each other nicely.

Event Signage:

This signage represents the theme previously established as “Leaping Into Fall”. The background of the tree, fall leaves and the grass will be the backdrop for the window. The words “Leaping Into Fall” is brown in color to pop from the orange colored leaves. Also, the words are in an upward arc shape to represent the motion of leaping.
