The SWITCH project, which won the best projects of the year 2011 - 2012 shows no sign of slowing down this AIESEC year. Work started on the 1st of June as the project worked with KREATIVE ISLAND,

their partner by helping with advertisements for their IT trianings.

The project is also currently working with its extremely hardworking interns Andreas(Sweden), Lane(China), Kaya(Norway), Lizzie(China) and Ethan(Australia) who are teaching in deprived junior

high schools. So far, they have been working in schools like Graceful Grace Academy and Evangelical Presbyterian School.

Some are also working with Redco 2. So much has happened and so much more is going to

happen........As the school is about to begin, we wish all members the best and an awesome year.

Afritour this year set its goal; Promoting tourism, Impact in tourism society and Explore (PIE). This goal will be realised through our plans for this year which are tourism seminars in high

schools, community development and a trip.

The rst of the interns arrived on 29th June and have been working very meticulously with PD’s and TL’s. The community based project has been started and it is centered in the

community of Doryumu. On 4th July, they visited Doryumu, a community around the Shai Hills. Our choice for Doryumu was because it was located around Shai Hills and the community

had a tourist attraction which is the Shai game reserve and also the Shai Hills.

The community had just started a senior high school with about 28 rst years students. Since it was starting, the school lacked some educational materials. The plan is to help raise funds for

school materials such as stationeries. Interns are also going to assist by being volunteer teachers at the school. The school was also visited on 12th July by the Yvonne, Ling Xiang and

Andy (Chinese interns) and Nathasha(PD) and Genevieve(Comm TL). On this visit, interns interacted with the students and shared a bit of their Chinese culture with them through

presentations.

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING........

JUST WARMING UP............

ASK PROJECT

AIESEC LEGON GLOBAL VILLAGE is working towards creating culture diversity and awareness. Whatsmore, we seek to drive a

sense of shared responsibility to environmental safety.

With our ve junior high schools on board, the team together with two interns Felicity and Harry both from china are all

working in this direction. We have started teaching at St. Peter LutheranSchool.

In line with our environmental safety campaign the team has been to the environmental protection agency. We met with the head of education at EPA and had a very fruitful discussion with him. They are interested in partnering with us and pledge their

support.

At the same time we are also trying to raise funds for the project. We are contacting a number of embassies, organizations and

companies for sponsorship and collaboration.

In all, everything on course and everyone is working hard towards an exciting and successful

GLOBAL VILLAGE 2012/2013.

about work

about touring

To be honest, as a college freshmen majoring in Mathematics, I knew nothing about marketing before I came to Ghana. But thanks to my project Director Reina, she patiently showed me how to do everything. We modified the letters for embassies together, sent our proposals to every related company; we went to the NGO’s, schools, and companies. It’s such fun when you are doing meaningful things that you never thought you would handle successfully. I still remember that there was a time when we were discussing about how to make one sentence look more professional and clear, we both stopped talking for a while, and then all of a sudden, we said the same thing together!! It was amazing, like we are really closed to each other. In a word, before I came here, I thought my job was to share, while actually, we are learning from each other. Thank you, AIESEC Legon, and I love you, Ghana.

So far my favorite place in Ghana is Kakum National park. It is in Cape Coast. Actually, the main reason why I chose to come to Africa is because I think it’s the most natural and beautiful continent in the world. Therefore, when I knew that we would visit rainforest, you can’t possibly imagine how happy I was. When we arrived in Kakum, it was raining heavily. For a time, I was worried that we wouldn’t be able to get in. But it turned out to be that it’s more exciting to visit Kakum on a rainy day. The ground was so wet and… that one of my friends had to take off her shoes! While I was walking through the giant trees and bare roots, I felt totally relaxed. No more worried about the work. I just imagined, I had been living there since I was born. The hiking took 45 minutes, too short for me. How I wish I could go back again!
