AIESEC KPU Board of Advisors Newsletter October 2012 Issue 1
1
Message from the Executive Board
October means that we are almost at the end of our
terms! Everything we have accomplished up to this point
could not have happened without the hard work of KPU’s
class of 2012 AIESECers. Each and every one of our
members have helped us surpass our own expectations.
And now it is the time for us to push harder than ever and
to really leave our mark as the world’s next generation of
leaders.

Communications Communications has done a fabulous job promoting AIESEC
throughout Kwantlen and the community. With the creation of our
new website, blog, and continued promotion through our social
media platforms, we have been able to expose AIESEC Kwantlen
and relay the benefits of joining our amazing organization!

KED Talks
KED Talks has finally come to a close! The communications team
has done an amazing job of taking an idea and turning it into
something that has impacted a number of students at Kwantlen.
Hopefully we can make this an annual event!

Corporate Relations The CR team has broken records by realizing not one, but three
internships in the past 2 months! Agranee Solutions has now
taken on a total of four interns from India and hopefully will be
looking to take on more in the future!
Also, with the help of our Director of Corporate Development, we
were able to restructure the entire portfolio to create a more team
like atmosphere to drive our sales up! We have recruited five new
CR members and are excited to see what they can do!
Alumni Relations
Brian Mackie, will be transferring from the Communications
portfolio to Corporate Relations to take on the role of Corporate
and Alumni Relations. Over the years we have amassed more
than fifteen AIESEC Kwantlen alumni and we will now be
conducting exit interviews with each alumnus to make sure that
they are still engaged with us in some way!

Talent Management
Stand Out!
The TM team wanted to put on an event for AIESEC members and
the Kwantlen community alike so they decided to organize Stand
Out in June! We had speakers come and speak about a variety of
topics including HR, Social Media, Leadership and
Communications.
Fall 2012 Recruitment
We at AIESEC KPU have had our best recruitment since our
conception! With Talent Management leading the way, we were
able to recruit 18 new members!

Outgoing Exchange
First Realization
This year’s team has made history yet again by sending our first
intern on exchange! Irwin Chahal, a second year marketing
student went to Manama, Bahrain for two months to work on the
“Colors of Bahrain” project. The group attempted to create a
Guinness Book world record by piecing together the largest scale
map of Bahrain, consisting of paintings made by school children.
Irwin also took part in creating a short film depicting Bahraini
culture.
New Exchange Participants
Marie Hiebert, a recent HR graduate has passed our review board
and is now looking for a development internship to match with.
Wahid Wasay is a fourth year accounting student who is in the
preliminary stages of our process and will be matched with an
exchange participant manager within the week.

Finance
Finance has recruited three new members who are all in the
process of being trained. They are also updating to the new
system of WAVE accounting and preparing for our upcoming
audit.
Current Grants
Saveena is currently working on multiple grant and sponsorship
opportunities for the local committee which include: Kwantlen
School of Business, Freedom 55 and Coast Capital.
Thank you for reading and see you
at the meeting!
