AGS PTA Newsletter

This year's annual paintball day is at Sabotage Paintball near Swanbourne, between Milton Keynes and Winslow (see - www.sabotage-paintball.co.uk/ for details). The price is the same as last year (£35) for a full day. We will have the whole site to ourselves so the organisers will design the programme to suit us, and we can take up to 100 participants - pupils, parents, teachers and friends. We have spoken to the High School and they are also interested in participating so we should have a good turnout (ask your sisters/ mums/ girlfriends). The event is open to all year groups. Non-AGS guests can participate as long as they are in Year 7 or older. If you would like to attend, please complete the attached form on (page 5) and return along with your cheques made payable to ‘AGS PTA’ if you have any questions regarding this event please contact Jeremy Webster at [email protected] .

The PTA has had a FANTASTIC start to the academic year, raising an amazing £11,626 so far, thanks to everyone for their support including the Xmas raffle which raised in excess of £3,200. We are hoping to raise £20,000 this academic year, £15,000 for a new multi gym and a further £5,000 to go towards the refurbishment of the Science Labs. Please continue to help us to reach these targets for the school projects”.

Many companies offer to match funds raised by their employees for charitable purposes. The PTA is a registered charity and you could help by participating in a sponsored event or helping out on a stall at the summer fete and asking your employer to match the funds raised! Can you help us DOUBLE THE MONEY? Ask at work and contact us if your employer will support AGS PTA through your efforts: pta@ags,bucks.sch.uk You may be surprised at how many companies help in this way!

Does your company do matched Funds

The PTA is offering bursaries for boys in Year 12 with the intention the award is used in the 2013 summer holidays. The bursary will be a fixed sum of money for part or full funding of a project to help others, whilst at the same time developing the proposer’s skills and experiences. It is expected that two or three bursaries will be awarded and the maximum award would not be more than £500. Application process: A word processed application of no more than 400 words which should include;

involvement of the proposer

amount requested This application should be emailed to [email protected] by 22nd February 2013. The PTA and school will review applications and may invite successful applicants for a short interview. Awards will be made in March 2013. To inspire others, successful recipients will be asked to deliver an assembly at school in autumn 2013. Any queries about bursaries should be directed to [email protected] with ‘Bursary’ in the subject.
