The agriculture policies followed during the last 50 years can be broadly divide under three phases:- 1.Pre - green revolution phase 2.Green Revolution phase 3. Post –Green Revolution phase Agriculture is often regarded as well as a means of livelihood hence sociological , political and sentimental consideration influence its organizationmore than of forms of activity .

Agriculture development is possible only through modernization and implementing better technology. With the object of achieving this goal government established Agricultural Extension units which underwent several changes in the last two or three decades Agriculture extension has been commenced with the establishment of National Extenenion service or black or community Development block in 1952. The extension system was modified to establish “Krishi Bhavan ” in every panchayath or local body with the effect from 1st September 1987 . According 1047 “Krishi Bhavan” is managed by an agricultural sector. They aim at all around development of agricultural sector including the development of financial agencies that provide support to the agricultural sector.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY1.To evaluate the role and functioning of krishi bhavan in our state.2.To see whether the krishi bhavan has been able to promote the modern techniques of agriculture. Which are helpful for farmers?3.To see the farmers of krishi bhavan are being benefited by the activities.

METHODOLOGYThe study is explorative in nature and is mainly based on primary and secondary data. Two ways primarily level enquiry is conducted using pre- tested schedules and questionnaire survey is conducted among krishi bhavan members as a well as farmers in the kurichy grama panchayath. The total population size is 10 wards consisting of an average of 250 n each ward, since I wasnot be able to cover all, the 10 wards the surveys are conducted in 3wards of the panchayath. 5 respondents were selected from each ward to collect details. The sample size is 25 all relevant information for the study such as details of land each farmers have for cultivation , type of seed use for cultivation weather local seed or hyv seed and which type of seed are more profitable ? Different type of fertilizers used for farming? the most important sources of irrigation , the challenges and problems faced by the farmers and benefits received from the government ,steps taken for nature farming and agriculture development facilities for improving the activities of krishi bhavan also has been included in the questionnaireThe study will also make use of the data from the following secondary sources:-Published reports of the agriculture departmentPeriodicals, journals, newspaper, internet, etc.

Agriculture sector forms a virtual role in the economic development. In the study an attempt is made to analyse the effectiveness of krishi bhavan in Kerala. It is the study with special reference to kurichy panchayath.The major findings of analysis are the following:. It is found that from sample about 50% of the people are working in agriculture sector , and about 15%working as private employees and about 25% of responds works as other Govt employees . More than 55%of the people get assistance from krishi bhavan below Rs.500 and Rs.1000. and 25% people get assistance from krishi bhavan in Rs.1500-Rs.20000 and above 20000.. It is also found that 45% of the farmers are cultivating coconut and around and around 35% of the farmers are belonging to banana cultivation .10% cultivator’s in paddy and pulses

PERIOD OF STUDYA specified period is necessary to make the study systematic .The period of study was 2014-2015 LIMITATION OF THE STUDYShortage of time was the main problem to collect all relevant data Financial problems adversely affected the study

Conclusion Based on the findings of the study The following suggestions and recommendation are given:- To provide awareness about the agriculture and related activities among the residents of kurichy panchayath.Provide feedback of president condition of agriculture in the panchayath through the gramasaba and panchayath samathyPlan, implement, operate and maintain various cultivation in the panchayath for self suffiencyTo identify barren land and maintain various cultivation in the panchayath for self suffiency.Provide more facilities for the cultivation and the allied activities like irrigation, fertilisers, and pesticides.
