    EDITOR STUFF.....

REN09 drew ACICV members, spouses and guests from as far West as Hawaii, and as far South as Miami...I counted 89 at the banquet...an excellent showing...Bill Ward told me that be-cause of the poor showing of the NCICA West-ern Convention in Yorba Linda, CA, which my wife and I hosted September 2008, the REN09 organizers planned to put on a “Bare Bones” re-union, this they accomplished. I have lost count of the number of photos from REN09 printed in this issue, we tried to get everybody in and hope-fully correctly identified. We relied at times on the name tags, however, some didn’t wear theirs, if we missed anybody, or miss labeled yours please let me know and we will correct it by taking your picture properly named at the next ACICV RE-UNION to be held 29 APRIL TO 4 MAY 2010.

As mentioned in a previous issue, approxi-mately 20% of our ACICV members also belong to the NCICA, conversely, 20% of the NCICA mem-bership belongs to the ACICV, therefore we are printing registration information for the NCICA Convention to be held in Charleston, SC, 1 to 4 Oc-tober 2009, you do not have to be a member of the NCICA to attend their Convention. However, you must be a member to vote at their general meet-ing. My wife, Estelle, and I will be there and might take a few photos of interest for AR Publication.

We have attended NCICA Conventions at Austin (TX), Columbus (OH), Newburgh (NY) and Yorba Linda (CA). Traditionally, they have an inter-esting speaker at the banquet and in Charleston the fee also includes a horse-drawn carriage tour of old Charleston to be followed by a truly Southern Fish fry. Two weeks later, 18 to 23 October to be specific, the NORTHEAST CHAPTER ACICV will be hosting their 18th annual retreat at POCMONT resort (Penn-sylvania). Estelle & I enjoyed it so much last year we

have made our reservations/deposit for this year.

    Chairman’s Message

RenO9 is over and from comments, I think the attendees enjoyed themselves. It was a plea-sure to meet those several members who had recently joined and were attending their first ACICV reunion. I hope you attendees did not leave too much in the casinos but that is the chance some of us took and not everyone can be as lucky as my wife, Esme, was. There were a few glitches but our great reunion group quickly handled those. As with most reunions, the hospitality room was the focus of everyone’s activities and the well-stocked bar helped.

Bill and Margaret Ward and Fred Huddle made several trips to the supplier to obtain liquor and accessories for that bar and I am sure that they all needed a much deserved rest after returning home. I cannot possibly express how much I and others appreciate the labors of Bill, Margaret and Fred in their efforts to provide us with such a successful reunion. We had an excellent board of directors meet-ing and the general meeting was also productive. You will be able to read the minutes of these meet-ings in the Agent Report. One problem was the reunion site for 2010. We had originally selected New Orleans at Reunion 2008 but for several reasons, we were unable to make the necessary arrangements.

Mill Dougherty and his group from Reunion 2008 made a generous offer to hold Reunion 2010 again at the Baltimore airport and this was quickly agreed to by the board. That reunion will now be held from April 29 to May 4, 2010, so please mark your 2010 calendars now. The board further se-lected St. Louis for Reunion 2011 and Al Bagot has agreed to coordinate that effort. Locating sites for reunions has become difficult and finding the people to run the reunions has also been next to impos-sible. The age and health of our members is a contributing factor as well as finding a location that is readily accessible to all by air or other transportation. We try to do our best, folks, and that is why we have had to go to locations where we have previously been. Some sites were suggested at Reno but we need folks to step forward to take on the tasks.

Contact me or Bill Ward if you are willing to help with a future reunion. Folks, setting up and running a reunion for our size group is not really that difficult and there will always be hands to help you. See you in Baltimore.

    Jim

    MINUTES

    ARMY COUNTERINTELLIGENCE CORPS VETERANSDIRECTOR’S MEETING

XXVI ANNUAL REUNION, MGM MIRAGE HOTEL IN RENO, NEVADA4 May, 2009

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 1500 Hours by Chairman Jim Boyden. The Chair asked the proxy’s to identify themselves. Elly Burton- Isabella Seely’s proxy; Paul Ill-Ursula Aamodt’s proxy and George Rogic- Mill Dougherty’s proxy. The Secretary announced a quorum and the meeting was officially opened. The minutes follow the order of the Agenda as presented by the Chairman and distributed to each member present.

ROLL CALL: Present were Jim Boyden, Chairman; Leo Geleta (Emeritus) Fred Barrett; Secre-tary and Director, Mike Schlenoff, Treasurer, Director and Chapter President; Elly Burton, Director and Chapter President; Paul Clifford, Director and Chapter President; Paul Ill, Director; Jesse June Direc-tor; Ozzie Kinat, Director; Stan Solin, Agent Report Editor, Director and Chapter president; Dick Sny-der, Director and Chapter President. Also present were Al Bagot and Duval Edwards as observers.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Fred Barrett noted that some of his comments would fall into different categories.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Mike Schlenoff’s complete Treasurer report will be published in it’s entirety in Agent Report #89. The Treasurer noted that approximately 450 households paid $25.00 for Agent Report subscription and one hundred and twenty households are past due. If AR subscription is not paid for two years the treasurer removes them from the roles. If dues have not been paid since 2002 and the member then pays the $25.00 they will become active again. Anyone who has not paid for three years will be dropped from the membership as inactive according to the by-laws. Fred Barrett noted that there is no such thing as a Life Membership that appears in the by-laws. The current By-Laws state, “Non payment of dues will result in the member’s being removed from membership following a grace period to be determined by the Board.”

MINUTES: Ozzie Kinat moved that since the minutes were published in the Agent Report #85 that they be accepted as written. A motion was made by Paul Ill that the minutes of 2008 be approved as published in AR#85. The motion carried.

OPEN POSITIONS: Directors- As of now we have 19 Directors. The Treasurer and Secretary are not Direc-tors. Four elected Directors are needed. Isabella will be replaced and Ozzie Kinat will remain, Jesse June indi-cated that he will remain as a director. Three directors will be nominated from the floor at the General meeting and be voted on.

HISTORIAN: Allen Mews will need to be replaced due to health issues. A discussion concerning the large amount of files that have accumulated over the years and what should be done with them. Also it was decided that the old Agent Reports should be kept. Dick Snyder suggested that perhaps the Editor could house the agent reports.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE CHAIR: Dick Rance has asked to be relieved due to personal reasons. Al Bagot will replace Dick in this position.

  • 11 www.acicv.org

EMAIL COORDINATOR: Due to the death of Ed Meier no officer in this position. A volunteer will be asked for at the General Meeting.

MEMBERSHIP: Dick Snyder stated that when an inquiry comes from someone who is interested in becoming a member of ACICV, the policy has been to send a letter stating that when their application is confirmed they will be sent a membership card, a copy of the by-laws and a list of the members. He asked if this procedure should be continued. The membership list needs to be updated. Paul Ill suggested that only a membership card and a copy of the Agent Report be sent. Paul Ill moved that all new members be sent a card and a copy of the Agent Report. The motion carried. The Treasurer recommended that an assistant Treasurer is needed.

The Chairman noted that the current Vice President, Tim Timmerman needs to be replaced due to health con-cerns and Chairman Boyden will ask for nominations from the floor at the General meeting.

DUES STRUCTURE: Leo Geleta suggested that the dues structure not be changed. He mentioned that since we are down to 85 people attending the reunion and because our numbers are decreasing that we should consider subsidizing reunion activities. He suggested that several thousand dollars should be used to subsidize the hospi-tality room. Elly suggested that perhaps the dinners or the Admin fee be subsidized. Mike Schlenoff disagreed with the suggestions offered. The Treasurer then mentioned that since the Editor is producing the Agent Report electronically that the cost of eachversion and the Agent Report should be reduced by $5.00.

AGENT REPORT: Stan brought up the cost of bulk mail costs and said there are three choices to receive the AR. One would be the hard copy, the hard copy and the email copy or only the email copy. He asked those who receive the AR to check their last AR for details.

REUNION 09 REPORT: The Chairman thanked Bill Ward for his hosting the reunion.Reunion 2010: Chairman Boyden reported that there is no one to sponsor the New Orleans reunion; therefore another site will be selected.

FUTURE REUNIONS: Elly suggested that the 2010 reunion be hosted by the Northeast and National Capital Chapter to be held in Baltimore at the newly renovated Holiday Inn located at BWI. She is willing to host The Day of Remembrance with a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington Cemetery fol-lowed by a Memorial Service and lunch at Ft Myer Community Center. This recommendation was approved by the members of the board. It will be in May of 2010 with the specific dates not yet decided.

FUTURE REUNIONS: Al Bagot suggested St Louis as a possible site for 2011.Awards: Since no decision was made as to who would receive the one award it was tabled until the 2010 re-union.

Chairman Boyden recognized Elly as the Recording Secretary since this is her fifth year to fill that position.

The Board of Directors meeting adjourned at 1630 hours.

MINUTESARMY COUNTER INTELLIGENCE CORPS VETERANS, Inc

General membership Meeting, Reno, Nevada6 May 2009

CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Boyden called the General Membership meeting to order at 0905 hours and wel-comed the members to the XXVI Annual Reunion and the XXVI General Membership meeting. Secretary Fred Barrett announced a quorum and the meeting were officially opened.

READING NAMES OF DECEASED: Elly Burton, Day of Remembrance Director, asked the readers, Paul Ill, Joyce Petrie, Joanne Schaffstall and Stan Solin to come to the podium and read the 89 names. Elly asked the audi-ence to stand for playing of Taps.

READING OF MINUTES: Paul Ill moved to suspend reading of the minutes since they are published in the 2008 spring issue Agent Report # 85. The motion was seconded and carried. Please include the Dues Payment Voucher when sending your check for annual dues. The information provides the Secretary with the current address; tele-phone number and e-mail address which is necessary for the membership list.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Treasurer Mike Schlenoff will have the entire Cash Flow from 4/1/2008 through 3/31/2009 included in Serial Issue #88 Agent Report. He mentioned that there are some AR subscriptions paid thru 2016. The money that is paid in advance cannot be used, that is reserved for future requirements. He said he had been using Countrywide but because of the economic slowdown the CD interest rates have gone down. He re-ceives more interest in his local bank so as the CD’s mature he is putting them there. He asked for questions, there were none. The Chair then asked for a motion to accept the treasurer’s report as presented. The motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS: The Chairman called on Dick Snyder to recognize the people who attended the first meeting reunion in 1982. Four of them were present; Bill Burmester, Mary and Leo Geleta and Dick Snyder. Dick Snyder then asked for any one attending for the very first time. There were approximately 17, their names are not avail-able.

NEW BUSINESS: The Chairman asked Stan Solin, Agent Report Editor, to come to the podium. Stan an-nounced that some one will have their picture taken at the dinner that night and will be on the cover of the next Agent Report. He asked that any pictures that are sent to him should be close-ups of the person’s face, not pictures of shoes or legs. He mentioned that most of the members have received an electronic copy of the AR and anyone who would like to have the AR sent via email to please let him know. If you prefer to have the hard copy it will be mailed to you. There will be no change in the subscription amount; every page is in full color. He is open to suggestions. The reason for addressing the AR to “Current Resident” is a request by the post office to cut down on undeliverable mail. Dick Snyder asked that the audience stand and give Stan a standing ovation for the wonder-ful job he is doing. Stan then asked his wife to be recognized since she is the Photo Editor. Leo Geleta asked that people are identified by name when submitting a picture and Stan asked that people not wear sun glasses when their picture is taken. He prefers that pictures be sent to Ozzie and Stan will get them from the ACICV website.

The chairman noted that the Treasurer should have an assistant for several reasons, three signatures are needed for each account and in case something should happen to Mike. Walt Petrie, the former treasurer, volunteered to as-sume that position.

The next order of business was the open positions that need to be filled. The first being the Historian, Allen Mews, who due to health concerns asked to be to be replaced. The Chair noted that Elly will contact Lee Yarborough in her Chapter. A replacement for Ed Meiser, the E-mail coordinator, who until his death had kept the emails current, making changes and corrections.

  • 13 www.acicv.org

He prepared a roster for distribution to those members who have an email address. The Chair asked for vol-unteers for a replacement. Al Bagot volunteered to be the Nominating Committee Chairman. He asked for nominations from the floor for President and Vice President. Leo Geleta nominated Jim Boyden, there was a second to that nomination. Dick Snyder, Membership Chairman, nominated Treasurer Mike Schlenoff, the cur-rent Treasurer for President. Both nominees accepted the nomination; Dick Snyder asked that they leave the room for the vote by show of hands. Jim Boyden was re-elected to serve another term as president. Nomina-tions from the floor were then open for the position of Vice President to replace Tim Timmerman who is not physically able to continue as Vice President. Ozzie Kinat nominated Bill Ward for Vice President, he ac-cepted the nomination. Dick Snyder nominated Mike Schlenoff who accepted the position. The vote by show of hands elected Bill Ward as the new Vice President. He also accepted the position of Reunion Chairman. The next order of business was to ask for nominations from the floor for three Directors. Leo Geleta nominated Isabella Seeley, Jesse June and Ozzie Kinat. The nominations were accepted and the motion was carried.

Chair Boyden said that he had been approached by several members who asked about a membership roster. It was discussed at the Board meeting. We really don’t have one in the format that we like. Boyden asked for input .The consensus is that many members would like to have a roster, the Chair said it would be worked on and will put a roster together. Paul Ill suggested that a roster should be put on the internet and anyone interested should give their email address to Stan and he will send an electronic copy to them. The next order of new business was to select a reunion site. In 2008 it was decided to hold the 2010 reunion in New Orleans. As it turned out there is no one available to host it due to severe health reasons. A couple that had volunteered to help have declined, so that puts New Orleans out of the picture.

Baltimore, MD has been selected for the 2010 reunion, The Holiday Inn is the same hotel that the reunion was held in 2008 and the hotel has since been renovated. The NE Chapter President, Mill Dougherty agreed to the Balti-more site. Elly is willing to have the National Day of Remembrance at Arlington National Cemetery, a memorial service and lunch at Ft Myer. Bus transportation to Arlington will be provided. The first consideration is easy ac-cess to the reunion city and the Holiday Inn is located at BWI airport.

Duane Rasmussen offered San Padre Island as a possibility. Since travel concerns need to be considered it would not be desirable for that reason alone.Duane was thanked and regrettably it will not be the 2011 site. Two other possibilities are being considered, St. Louis, MO and Minneapolis, MN.

Ozzie Kinat asked for a show of hands from those who have gone on the ACICV website. He explained the sim-plicity of getting on the web. The address is ACICV.Org. Ozzie also asked if there is anyone present who has an email address and has not received an email from him. He emphasized the importance of letting him know if your email address has changed.

Paul Ill announced that Hugh Aamodt is seriously ill and now has Hospice with him. Leo Geleta announced that Grace Dougherty was not well enough to travel to Reno.

Mike Schlenoff briefed the group concerning membership. Only the Membership Card uses the term, “Life mem-ber in good standing.” The current by-laws state, non-payment of dues will result in the member’s being removed from the membership following a grace period to be determined by the Board.

There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 1005 hours.

National Capital ChapterSt Patrick’s Day Lunch

    19 March 2009

Thirty-two Chapter members and 20 friends met for lunch at the Fairfax American Legion Post 177 to celebrate St Patty Day. Elly called the group to order, Art Klekner passed out copies of a special prayer and the group read in unison. Mike Rompilla led us with the Pledge to the Flag. A huge shamrock cut from poster paper was on each table along with a tall green and white St. Pattys hat and the cover of the Spring issue of; the Agent Report with the wonderful picture of Mill and Grace Dougherty at Mill’s 90th birthday party.; When our editor, Stan, asked if Mill and Grace would be attending the lunch, and was assured that they would be, he emailed the AR to me so I could print just the cover.; The day before the lunch four copies of the Agent Report came in the mail so a copy was placed on each table. What a surprise for the guests and espe-cially for Mill.; By now all who have received a copy of the Spring AR have read the article about the birth-day party for Mill and have seen the picture of Mill and the Blonde entertainer at the Baltimore reunion.; Ellen Yarborough read the article to the guests, many of them learning of it for the first time.; The audience thorough-ly enjoyed hearing the roasting that Mill received at his party.; There was a lot of laughter and comments from the group and Mill being the good sport that he is took it all in good fun. We discussed the possibility of the Northeast and the Capital Chapter setting time aside to remember those who have passed away since the last National Day of Remembrance. brought up at our next meeting when suggestions will be discussed and decided as to what we want to Mill mentioned that the NE Chapter is planning to have a bus for travel to the annual October reunion at the Pocmont Resort.

No doubt many folks would very much like to attend the five day reunion but are reluctant to drive. The plan is to leave from Fort Meade, MD Club Meade where those attending would be able to leave their car. Following lunch the lucky winner at each table went home with either the St. Patrick hat or a copy of the Agent Report. On Wednesday, April 8, Merrill Kelly, Art Klekner, Mike Rompilla, Sam Samborski and Elly Burton met for an impromptu lunch at Carlos restau-rant in Fairfax. We agreed that it would be a great idea for any one interested to get together for lunch one Wednesday of every month. Art Klekner will choose the restaurant, date and time. Elly will get the infor-mation to all the members and friends so you will be hearing from her.

    SPACE COAST CHAPTERUrsula Aamodt

    [email protected]

On Saturday, 21 March 2009, the Space Coast Chapter met for their Easter/Spring Luncheon, at the “At Ease Club”, their favorite place.

Present were Ed & Virginia Lupton, Bill Burmester, George & Donna Stephenson, Gil & Rosita Acevedo from the Orlando Chapter as well as their friends, General Os-car Martinez, his lovely wife Josephina and their lovely daughter, Yelipsa. Also attending were Paul Ill and his lady friend Janet Hudson, Vic & Vi Allen, Marie & Don Griffith, Ruth Kaufmann, Bob & Joan Brooks, and Joan’s sister, Shirley Coleman who is now part of the group. Do-lores & Paul Freeburger, Ray & Lillian Banks, and Ursula & Hugh Aamodt.

Paul Ill led in the Pledge of Allegiance, Ursula gave the invocation.

There was a “buzz” in the room for about an hour, folks having a cocktail or two, and discussing world events as well as the goings on during the past three months. You heard lots of laughter and could feel the friendships that encircled the room.

After a great lunch featuring London Broil or a delicious Florida Shrimp Plate, the meeting was opened by Ursula.

She presented the financial report and also brought up the Reno Reunion reminding everybody there was still time to register and join in the fun.

Space Coast Chapter lost a long time member, Fran Fox, Don’s wife. She will be long remembered and we will keep Don in our prayers.

After the meeting, and a few notes from the members, they started raffling of the now “Famous Precious Gifts”. The table decorations, of handmade

Easter Baskets made by Ruth Kaufmann and Ursula were next to be won. Five lucky winners took them home. Ruth had also made a beautiful Easter wreath that went home with a lucky winner.

Paul Ill entertained with a “Senior Joke”, Ursula pulled out a few more, but had to admit that telling these was no joking matter as the group saw themselves in the jokes.

After three and a half hours, Ursula closed the meeting wishing everyone a very Happy Easter.

March 2009The March meeting was held Friday, 27 March 2009, at the Country Kitchen Restaurant in Sierra Vista, AZ. Ray Betts, SAIC, opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance at 11:35AM.

TAPS: Margaret M. Nichols was born on August 17, 1916 in Los Angeles, Calif. and entered into rest March 22, 2009 in Menlo Park, Calif. Margaret was a resident of Tucson, Arizona since 1934 and an active member of ACICV. She is survived by two daughters and their families. A funeral mass was held on Tues-day, March 31, 2009 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catho-lic Church in Tucson, AZ. Margaret was an incred-ible, inspirational woman and had an unfailing ability to see the best in everyone and in all situations. She will be missed by all.

DISCUSSION: The guest speaker did not show up, the group began to entertain itself. Many members related experiences of their own during their days in military counterintelligence, all of which were fasci-nating and many of which were very amusing. Mac McCormick was in great form and really led the dis-cussion. Some commented on the role of Charles A. Willoughby, MacArthur’s G-2 in Japan, in evaluating intelligence generated just before and during the early days of the Korean War.

    INFORMATION ON MEXICAN BORDER TRANSIT

Considerable interest was expressed during the meet-ing in any document that would speed up the waiting time for Americans crossing the Mexican border. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has created the SENTRI Program for that very purpose. Once approved, an American and his/her vehicle may exit Mexico by avoiding the regular car lane and using a special SENTRI lane; each person in the car must have been approved for the vehicle to pass through that line. To be accepted into the Program, Americans must go through a process that consists of (a) an on-line application; (b) following pre-approval, an inter-view with an CBP agent at one of the border crossings covered by the Program (Nogales, AZ is one of those sites); (c) inspection of the vehicle at such a site; and (d) payment of fees (application fee, lane fee, and fin-gerprint fee) which total $122.25 per person. There is an additional fee if more than one vehicle is to be in-cluded in the process. We are told by an experienced border crosser that the difference in waiting time is enormous, making the application process well worth while.

To review the full details of the program and to apply on-line, one should go to the following site: www.cbp.gov and search for the SENTRI Program (access can be also be obtained less directly by going through the DHS site, www.dhs.gov).

  • 21 www.acicv.org

Our source is an experienced border crosser who makes a minimum of two trips per month to San Car-los, Mexico, which is well south of the Free Trade Zone (and so requires a Visa). He added some other interesting comments. At present there are no de-lays upon entering Mexico; one is generally not even stopped by US or Mexican authorities. There is the possibility that the recently announced DHS program to interdict the flow of guns into Mexico may have some impact on today’s practices. One cannot pre-dict whether waiting times for entry into Mexico will increase; nor can one predict whether a new program similar to SENTRI will be created to speed up that border-crossing process.

Recently, he has seen an increased military pres-ence in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico, but nothing else has changed along his route which takes him south through Hermosillo to San Carlos. He has often trav-eled that route in the middle of the night without in-cident. Readers should be aware, however, that the U.S. State Department has issued a travel warning for Americans visiting Mexico.

MISCELLANEOUS: The door prize, a signed copy of American’s Fighting Presidents by William Lee Messick, was won by Dorothy Dietz. We collected $18.00 for the postage stamp fund. Thank you for your generosity and continued support.

There were thirteen members in attendance at the meeting: Mac & Sally McCormick; Bud Strom, Rod Preuss, Dorothy Dietz, Jack Drummond, George & Verle Hackenyos, Fred Toczko, Chuck & JoAnne Phillips, and Ray & Sharon Betts. Also attending was Marty Miller of Montpelier, Vermont, a guest of Ray & Sharon.

Saturday, 11 April 2009, the following eight Spooksters from Southern California met for lunch at the Buca di Beppo Restaurant, 11737 Harbor Blvd, Garden Grove, CA 92840: Bernie Thielen; Don Bridges; Rick & Diane Washburn; Roger & Dianne Miller; Stan & Estelle So-lin.

At 11:30 am, Rick Washburn, our Sergeant-At-Arms, led us in the pledge of allegiance to “Old Glory.”

With eight you don’t get egg-roll, actually with 300 you don’t get egg-roll at Buca, but you do order anything you want from their vast Italian menu.

The private room #500, square table with everybody facing each other made for perfect conversation.

First, we discussed the Agent Report, one of my pet subjects. We talked about the pros and cons of both sending out a print copy and electronic copy. No body could think of anything negative about the electronic version being sent in addition to the print copy. Next

we all contributed humerus adventure stories from our CIC days. The subject of our weapons and lack of use was com-pletely covered. Most of us had been issued the Smith & Wesson snub nosed Detective Special with 2” bar-rel. Rick, our Nam Guy had an M-14, kinda difficult to get into a shoulder holster. Last issue of the AR pictured Don Bridges wearing a Colt 45. This killed the rumor that Don, oldest agent at the luncheon had been issued a flintlock.

We reluctantly ended the luncheon at 14:30 hours.

Next luncheon scheduled for Saturday, 20 June 2009, same place, same time.

The blaws of winter have disappeared and we’re now in the beautiful spring season. Once again we have weathered the ice and snow and have the blooms of spring and early summer to raise our spirits. To start our blood flowing, the chapter members enjoyed the annual Spring Brunch.

The Easter Bunny (aka Trudy Torten) made her entrance hopping and smiling with her long ears flop-ping toting her baskets of goodies and in step to “Here Comes Peter Cotton Tail”. She visited each and every table and the lucky guys got hugged and bussed.

You can not say that the day would be complete without an Easter Parade. Betty Petrogallo took care of that. She supplied bonnets and hats to members of the group. In case you are perplexed, the bonnets were for the ladies and the hats for the men. With their heads covered the members paraded to the title song of the movie “Easter Parade”. Judy Garland probably looked down with a smile on her face and a song in her heart.

Now we look forward to out next social activity, the Anniversary Brunch.

This year we have three couples to honor an celebrate with-Lew & Shirley Nippard, Betty & Fred Petrogallo, and Betty & Fred Walters. Lew & Betty and Betty & Fred celebrate their 60th while Betty & Fred their 50th. No, no mistake, the names are correct just that Fred Petrogallo is ALFRED while Fred Walters is FREDERICK. As for the Bettys, it is ELIZABETH Petrogallo.

Can you believe it, we are just in spring and the chapter is planning for the Poconos. Of course the planning re-ally started two years ago when reservation was made at the resort. This year we will again have our Oktoberfest with all the trimmings; music, beer and food. As of this you might have guessed, this will all be of German flavor. The Chapter has been devasted by the lost of three long time members in the course of ten days; Wal-ter Frey, John Havlik and John Lally. Their presence and friendship will be missed.
